309 Chapter 309: He’s The One To Blame

Nathalia pecked a kiss at the corner of his lips and assured him, "Everything's fine. Come, let's go get some yummy take away and go home to share with mum."Live every day like it's the last day, whatever happens. Live it to its fullest. Nathalia thought.

"Sounds good." Spencer nodded with a smile, peace returning to his heart. He kissed Nathalia gratefully. Nathalia's right. Aunt Emma in the past now. She's not part of our life anymore, and I shall not let her affect us.

Just then, someone knocked at the car window. "Spencer, Nathalia?"

It was Curt.

With his arm around Nathalia protectively, Spencer opened the window, and impatiently, he said, "What do you want?"He's the one to blame. It's him that's caused all this trouble. He thought.

Sincerely, Curt said, "I'm sorry. I've owed you an apology since long ago..." He looked upset, remorseful, and even in pain.

Spencer's lips curled up into a sneer. "What for? For my pathetic childhood? For the fact that you are my father?!"

His eyes fixed on the ground, he heaved a sigh. "I wish I could go back to time and restart. I want to make it up. I want to be..."

"Wish whatever you want. Everyone pays for what he's done. Anyway, I hope you know what to do at the court next time." Spencer said calmly and closed the window afterward.

Curt stood there, watching the car going farther and farther away. The sun shone its last light on him as it set below the horizon.

Though Spencer had reacted calmly to Curt, he wasn't feeling good at all. Again, unaware of it, he sighed.

"I'm told that those that sigh often age faster. I don't want to be with a wrinkled old man." Nathalia teased, hoping to cheer him up. And it did work.

Spencer smiled and intended to tickle Nathalia, "Are you saying you will leave me? Huh?"

"Hahaha, no. Don't tickle me. Stop." Nathalia giggled. "You are the most handsome one. I will love you forever!"

Spencer took Nathalia into his arms and kissed her head.

"Well, as long as you love me too," Nathalia added cheekily, yet sincerely.

She had always believed that both were fair in a relationship, and it only worked when both loved each other.

I will be with you as long as you love me. Love with dignity and respect. Nathalia thought to herself. Some might think that her love was limited, but she believed that one could only truly love others when they loved themselves first.

"You are the best thing that's happened in my life. I'm so grateful that I'm with you." Spencer said gently as he gave her a little squeeze. Nathalia smiled a content smile.

At The Trend

Richard Smith and Nicolas Ford paid Nathalia a visit without informing. Nathalia received them politely in the meeting room.

Nicolas agreed. "So do I. I think it's a great opportunity for us."

They had both worked with Nathalia for some time, and they were confident of her capability, but now that they saw there were benefits to be gained, they couldn't let the opportunity go and decided to come and persuade Nathalia.

Nathalia could hear the disapproval in their tone, but she remained calm.

"I have doubts about the proposal. If the Shining Corporation is as good as how they claim themselves, why do they want to cooperate with us? The Carters are still suffering from our loss. Why don't they choose the Berry Company, the Brighton's or the Morgan's?" she said frankly, without beating the bushes.

Richard was a bit taken aback, but he reasoned, "Why? Well, when the opportunity comes, it comes. And we do have a good reputation, or at least, we used to."Richard had been a bit short on money lately, so he had been hoping the company would make some more proceeds soon.

Nathalia tapped the table with her fingers and said clearly, "I don't think it's as simple as that. We should do thorough research of the company before we decide."

Though she was young, she was thoughtful and careful. Also, she had the support from Spencer, so neither Richard nor Nicolas wished to annoy Nathalia.

Nicolas frowned thoughtfully and said, "I heard that the owner of the Shining Corporation upset you the other day, so you disapproved of the proposal. Is that so?"

As usual, there had been rumors all over town, and as usual, Nathalia hadn't been paying much attention. "He upset me? Why? Who said so?" She asked calmly.

Nicolas replied excitedly, "Well, it's all over town. They say that Spencer Davidson is suing Daniel Brown for insulting you."It does show that Spencer Davidson cares about her, which is good for the company as we have his support. He thought to himself. "But, I do hope you reconsider the proposal. I'm sure Daniel Brown didn't mean to upset you." He added politely.

"Didn't he?" Nathalia lifted her brows.

"What do you mean?" Nicolas and Richard asked simultaneously.

Nathalia didn't want to explain too much. She said briefly, "I don't trust him. I don't approve of the proposal." She had the complete right to do so. Now Richard was annoyed, "Come on. Don't be naïve. We are talking about business here, a great opportunity for the company. You shouldn't be so personal. You are not a child..."

Richard pulled his sleeve. He turned around to see him shaking his head and winking at him. Then he saw the cold look on Nathalia's face and realized what he had just said.

Shit. What have I just said?! I just called her naïve and childish! Richard thought nervously. Ever since he met Nathalia, he knew how calm and mature she had been.

He opened his mouth, wanting to apologize, but no words came out. Nathalia waved her hand and said casually but clearly, "I've made up my mind. Please don't waste your time."
