"One sec!" Baldemar yelled back.
I watched him working in the forge again, he was currently beating some metal with his hammer. It took him maybe ten minutes to mold it into the shape he was looking for. After he got done smashing the hammer against it, he took the piece of flattened metal, and put it into a big barrel of water. After that he came out to where we were.
"Oh, hey guys! What are you guys doing here?" He asked us.
"Hey Baldemar!" Arialle waved at him.
"Hey! We are here to turn in our quest!" I told him.
"Indeed they are, I've also got the money in my ring. So once we are done with this, I've got to get back to my shop! I have a lot of customers needing stuff. It would also seem like you have a lot to haha. . ." Vic told him then started laughing.
"Indeed I do have a lot. Alright you two, hand over your rings that way I can start the process of getting your quest turned in." He told us with a smile on his face.
"Alright. . . By the way, why is it everyone keeps smiling at us?" I asked him while taking my ring off, Arialle had already taken hers off and gave it to him.
"Well, isn't it obvious? It is because you guys did the impossible in my opinion. You guys took care of so many wolves, and also took care of the King of Wolves. Then you guys went into the cave, and took care of the druid that terrorized us. So of course everyone is smiling at you. You guys are our heroes!" He told us.
"Oh. . . Didn't realize we did so much. . ." I commented softly with a red tint to my cheeks.
"Haha. . . It's ok to be surprised. Now, let's take a look at these rings." He told us, then started the video feed from the rings. It was a lot of killing honestly. We killed so many wolves, spiders, scorpions, and roches. Our day of killing turned into a few minutes with the rings being in fast speed mode.
"You guys really took care of all of them. . . I still can't believe it. Also, you took care of the King of Wolves by yourself Arthrall? That is a pretty good feat there bud." He asked me.
"Yeah. . . The wolf was actually weaker than I thought it was. . ." I commented.
". . ."
Silence. Silence was all I heard at that point. It was quite creepy honestly.
"You know what. . . I'm not even going to say anything. . ." He said while pouting a little bit.
He took the rings, and stopped the video feed. It took him maybe another five minutes to get the rewards ready for us, while Vic took out a big bag of money for us.
"Alright, here are your rewards. Once you put the rings back on, it will give you the experience you're supposed to be getting. Also, I decided to throw in some arrows for you Arthrall. You are looking pretty low on them. I made you 60 arrows this time. For free. You guys did so much for us, it is the least I could do to help out. Oh, before I forget. Here are 50 silver pieces for each of you. I know it's not much, but it is the best I can do right now. With me doing most of this forging for free right now for most of the people that live here, I haven't made much money." Baldemar said while handing over the items to us.
"You didn't have to do this, we are making quite a bit of money just from the leathers we brought you guys." I told him while putting the arrows into my quiver, and my ring. Although once I put them near my ring, I actually put them into my inventory that I've got.
"I know I don't have to, but I want to. So take it, and don't give it back!" Baldemar said with a slight glare in his eyes.
"Haha. . . Alright I won't!" I laughed.
"Alright you two, here is the money that I owe you now. I'm giving you each 400 Silver Coins. You guys only brought back 56 creatures, but the big creatures you guys brought back covered the rest until around 80 pieces of leather. So, take this and thank you again for your help guys." Vic explained while handing over the money to us in two separate bags. Arialle put his into her backpack she had on her, I also put it into my bag.
"Thank you Vic, this helps us out tremendously." I told her.
"Haha. . . No problem. Now I've got to get back to work now, so this is goodbye to you four." She said that while waving to us goodbye. She then turned around and started walking back towards her shop.
"Bye Vic! Thank you again!" Araille yelled to her.
"Later Vic!" I yelled.
She waved her hand without turning around.
"Alright you two, I've got a favor to ask. Is there any way you could go to the blacksmith there in Alabaster. He is my brother, and I'm going to need his help with getting us some supplies. His name is Brondeac. He will probably ask what is going on, so go ahead and tell him everything that happened here. Also, talk to Phillip. Tell him what happened here, and that we are going to need some people from the Adventurer's Guild to help me over here." He explained to us.
"Yeah no problem. We should be getting back there in about 3 to 4 days." I told him.
"Alright, thank you again guys! I've got to get back to work now. So if there is anything you need, let me know now. If not, then walk around the vendor stalls around here. Pick some stuff up to take with you!" He commented to us.
"I don't need anything now, what about you Arialle?" I asked her.
"Hmm. . . Not that I can think of. So later Baldemar!" She said while waving goodbye to him.
"Later Baldemar!" I said to him.
"Alright, goodbye you two!" He said to us, then went back into his forge.
We walked away from his shop towards the stalls.
"Wait! Arthrall, we forgot about the meat from the beasts we killed earlier!" She exclaimed.
"Oh crap, good thing you just remembered that! Let's head over towards Vic's place real quick." I commented.
We rushed over to Vic's shop to talk to her about the meat. Once there, we walked in and the same guy from earlier noticed us.
"Hey welcome back, you guys looking for Vic again?" He asked.
"Yeah, need to ask her something." I told him.
"She is in the back, go ahead and go back there." He motioned us to go back there.
"Thanks bud!" I said to him while walking past the counter.
"Hey Vic! Are you back here?" I asked.
"Yeah I am!. Oh it is you two again, did you guys forget something?" She asked us.
"Yeah, our meat! We need it haha." I said while chuckling.
"Oh snap! I forgot about that. Follow me, it is in a fridge that we have in the back." She said to us while motioning us to follow her.
We followed her even further to the back of her store. She walked up to a door and opened it. The moment she opened it, we felt the cold air hit us. She walked inside right afterwards, we followed her inside, and what we saw was a lot of different barrels and a whole bunch of meat. There was actually quite a bit of it.
"Alright, here is the meat I promised you guys. Sorry about forgetting about it earlier. . . Haha. . ." She commented then started chuckling awkwardly afterwards.
"Yeah. . . My mind is still asleep. . . Haha. . ." I laughed awkwardly too.
After I laughed, I went to the meat, and started putting it into my ring. Arialle also came over and helped by putting some of it into her ring. After we were done, we walked out of the fridge to wait for Vic to shut the door.
"Alright, that all you guys needed?" She asked us.
"Yep, thank you again Vic!" I said while waving goodbye to her.
"Later again Vic!" Arialle said while smiling.
"Haha. . . Later guys!" Vic laughed while waving to us.
After that, we walked back out to the front of the store. I waved to the guy that saw us earlier, and he waved back. We walked outside, then started walking back towards the stalls.
"Alright, do we need anything?" I asked her.
"Hmm. . . Maybe some more matches, spices, and whatever you can think of." She told me after thinking for a moment.
"Alright, lets see here. We have meat, you're getting more matches and spices, maybe we could get some bowls for making some soup, a pot, and some vegetables? Maybe clothes as well for Devin. You never know, he might need it." I said.
"Sounds like a plan to me." She commented.
"Alright then, lets go buy this stuff." I told her.
We started walking from stall to stall to buy the stuff we needed, but we couldn't buy any of it. The stall owners were way too generous, and gave us everything we needed without paying. We thanked everyone, then we started walking towards the area we originally came from.
"You think Titus will be alright?" Arialle asked me.
"Yeah, I think he will be. I mean he is a rogue just like you, and he also knows how to move around quite quickly too." I commented to her. "Why? Are you worried about him?" I then asked her.
"I guess. . . I mean I am, it's just we haven't seen each other in a while. So I guess I'm just worried about him." She commented to me sadly.
"Hey, don't get sad. Remember he told us he would see us again, and I believe he will!" I told her with a smile on my face. She looked up at me, and she ended up getting a small smile started on her face.
"Now, lets go! I want to meet up with Devin! He is a really great guy!" I told her while moving towards the forest.
"Hey wait up!" She yelled from behind me.
"Haha. . . You better catch up or I'm leaving you behind!" I yelled back at her.
"Grr. . ." She growled, then started running to catch back up with me.
"Haha. . ." I started laughing.
She ended up glaring at me for a little bit, then started laughing with me. Once we reached the edge of the forest I stopped, and turned around to look at the town we were just at.
"You alright?" Arialle asked me.
"Yeah, just wanted to take a look at this place before we left. This place will hopefully change quite a bit in a few months. Maybe we can come back here at some point to say hi to everyone again." I commented.
"That sounds like a good idea. I really like Vic. She helped me out quite a bit." She said to me.
"Yeah, I really like Baldemar. I liked watching him work, to the point I wish I could have another profession. . ." I mentioned to her.
"Maybe you can. . . I mean with your system you've got, you might be able to have more than 2 main professions." She told me.
"True. . ." I commented.
{Is she right?}
[Hmm. . . I'm not sure. Give me some time, and I'll look into it alright?]
{Sure!}
"So, where are we supposed to be meeting Devin?" She asked me.
"Uh. . . Honestly no idea. . . I guess we just need to head towards Alabaster, and he will be meeting us at some point. I was told it would be a day, maybe more, or maybe less." I told her.
"Alright then, lets go ahead and head over that way for now. We can stop and grab a bite to eat in about an hour or two." She commented.
"Sounds like a plan." I told her.
We started walking into the forest at that point. It was quite beautiful without being chased or attacked by wolves this time. We ended up walking quite a distance in about an hour and half. We decided to stop at that point because my stomach started growling. I forgot I didn't eat this morning sadly.
"Haha. . . I guess I should've eaten this morning. . ." I laughed awkwardly.
"Yeah. . . Doesn't help you were excited to leave due to you getting to see Devin again." Arialle commented to me.
"True. . . Well, let's grab some wood for the fire. There are plenty of sticks around here, there is also a log to the right of you." I told her.
She looked over to her right, and then looked around us. "Let's make the fire pit near that little opening there. You wanna start grabbing the wood while I make the pit?" She asked me.
"Sure." I commented.
She walked over to where she pointed to and started making the pit. I walked around the place, and started picking up the sticks I saw. I also went and grabbed the log after I took the sticks over to her. After I brought the log to her, I took some of the matches I had, and lit one to start the fire. It took it a moment to get it started, but once it did, it didn't take it long to catch fire. After the fire started, I took the spices out of my inventory, and then took some of the meat out of my ring. We seasoned ours, but didn't season Orion's or Onyx's. I'm not certain if they can handle seasoning honestly. We put our food onto some sticks, then planted them around the fire. We waited for an hour for the food to be cooked, then we separated them for each of us. I started eating mine the moment it was handed to me. I threw the two big pieces of meat to Orion and Onyx, and they started devouring theirs. It took me maybe ten minutes to finish mine, and Arialle took a little bit longer than me.
"Alright, let's get this fire put out. Then let's continue on our way. I want to see Devin badly right now. . ." I told her.
"Will do! I can't wait to meet Devin. Is he a really good guy?" She asked me while she put the fire out with the dirt she dug up earlier.
"Yeah he is. . . See I had three other brothers back from my world, but I wasn't really that close to them sadly. After I hit high school, I met Devin. We instantly became friends, but it wasn't until a few months later we got really close as good friends. After that point, I always called him my brother. We have been brothers for the past 4 years since then." I explained to her.
"Oh wow. . . By the way, what is a high school? Is it a person you know?" She asked me.
I looked over to her, and her head was tilted to the side with her finger on her chin. I started busting up laughing at that point.
"Haha. . . No it's not a person. A high school is a building that has about 800 kids in it. They go to these things called classes and they get taught about the ways of life basically. There are about 30 kids to one teacher per classroom." I explained to her.
"Oh wow. . . That sounds terrible. . ." She said with a shocked look on her face.
"You have no idea. . ." I commented lightly. "Alright, let's get going. I want to meet Devin before night hits us." I commented to her.
After that, we started moving in the direction of Alabaster. We still had about four more hours of walking left before it started to get dark out. I saw quite a few animals that looked tasty, but we had enough meat to last us quite a while already. So I just watched them for now. I ended up seeing some trees that have fallen over, but it wasn't caused by a beast. It looked like they just either rotted, or just died. I decided to pick up quite a bit of the sticks, and branches laying around for later. Afterwards, we kept walking for a great distance. Before we knew it though, it started to get darker outside.
"I guess it is time for us to stop for now. You want me to dig the pit this time, or do you want to do it again?" I asked her.
"I'll dig it again, you just get the wood ready. Figured we could wait a little bit before we decide to eat." She told me while moving some of the leaves out of the way.
"Alright." I commented to her, then started getting the wood out for the fire. "Hey, do you have the tent on you by any chance?" I then asked her.
"Yeah I do, do you want to put it up?" She asked me.
"Yes please, if possible!" I told her.
"Sure, here." She said to me while throwing me her bag.
After catching her bag, I took the tent out, and started setting it up. It took me about ten minutes to get it fully set up. After that I put her bag inside of the tent.
"I'm going to set up the traps, just in case something big decides to attack us tonight." I told her.
"Alright." She commented.
I went about 20 feet from us, and started walking in a circle. While walking I started setting up the traps. It took me about a half hour to get them all set up, after that I went back towards the campfire.
"Welcome back! I've made us a light snack. It isn't much, but I had some leftover desert from when I made you that dinner." Arialle told me.
"Oh thanks! I'm a little hungry." I told her.
I sat down next to her, and started to eat some apple turnovers from the other night. They tasted pretty good, even though they were over a day old.
"They still taste pretty damn good too. . . Haha" I commented before laughing.
"Yeah they are!" She commented.
"So hopefu. . ." I started to say something.
At that point I heard something in the distance. I looked over to where the noise was coming from, and what I saw was a man that was walking towards us. I nudged Arialle that way she knew something was up. She looked up and saw the same guy. The guy was about 5 feet tall, with black hair on his head and face. He was quite stocky too. His shoulders were quite a bit larger than mine. He looked quite a bit stronger than me, with his muscles being kind of on the larger side. He continued walking up towards us, he was about five feet away from the traps I put down earlier.
"Hold up friend. I wouldn't walk any closer." I yelled at him.
"Oh sorry! I'm actually looking for someone right now." He yelled back.
"Who are you looking for right now? We are the only people in this area as far as we know." I yelled to him.
"I'm actually looking for my brother. His name is Jason. Have you seen him?" He yelled back to me.
My eyes got huge at that point, they even started to water a little bit.
"Arthrall. . . Is that?" Arialle whispered to me.
"I. . . I don't know. . ." I commented to her softly.
"What is your name, friend?" I yelled to him, even though I was certain of it. I just had to make sure.
"My name? It is Devin. Why do you ask?" He asked.
"Oh my god. . ." I said silently.
I instantly got up, and started running towards him. He instantly got scared and put his hands up to block me. Sadly I was a lot quicker than him, and dodged him. I wrapped my hands around him, and started balling.
"Devin! It's me! Jason!" I cried to him.
"Jason? Oh my god! Finally! I've been walking this direction for ten minutes, I already get to see you! I'm glad I finally got to see you again!" He said before he also started crying. He in turn hugged me right back.
