Chapter 63 - 63: Talking About Something Pretty Heavy.

"Alright, do you want to do the watch like we did on our way here?" I asked Arialle.

"Sure, you want to do it first then?" She asked me.

"Yeah I can." I commented.

"What do you mean the watch?" Dj asked.

"Well we have to keep watch while the other one sleeps. If not then we could get attacked by beasts out here in the woods." I told him.

"So you are saying this is really like our rpgs back from our world?" He then asked me.

"Yes, except a lot worse. Cause we can actually die out here." I mentioned to him.

"Oh no. . ." He said with a quiet voice.

"Yep. Arialle, go ahead and go to sleep. Orion or Onyx, why don't one of you go to sleep with her." I told them.

{{I'll go to sleep then if you don't mind Orion.}} Onyx commented.

{{No, go ahead!}} Orion said.

"Is it ok if I stay up with you?" Dj then asked me.

"Sure, that is fine." I told him.

"Goodnight you three." Arialle said before going to sleep in the tent.

"Night!" I called out to her.

"Goodnight." Dj commented.

"Alright, I'm going to go check the traps. How about you stay here, and wait for me?" I asked Dj.

"Ok." He commented.

After telling Dj to stay here, I went to check on my traps. The first one I went towards was the one Dj almost set off earlier when he showed up. It didn't have anything, but instead it had been set off. Like something ran into it, but didn't get caught by it. I checked around the trap to see if there were any footprints, or anything that can tell me what did it. While I was looking, I saw a claw mark near it, but I couldn't tell from what exactly. I reset the trap after that, then went around to the others. Sadly, none of the others were set off except two of them. They had a rabbit in each of them. I pulled the traps apart and got the rabbits out of them. I then reset them, and headed back to the campfire.

"I'm back." I said to Dj from behind him.

"Holy!" He exclaimed while jumping into the air.

". . ."

". . ."

"Hey bud. . . I think you should work on your ability to not get scared at night time." I commented to him while sitting down.

"Haha. . . It was so funny I forgot to laugh. . . No, I figured you would have come back from the direction you came from, not from behind me. . ." He commented to me with a sad looking face.

"Nah, I had to go around the traps completely, so the last one I got to was behind our camp. Anyways, I got two rabbits out of it. We will eat these in a couple of hours. I'll also leave out a piece of meat for Arialle and Onyx before we wake them up." I mentioned to him.

"Oh ok. You want me to skin one of them?" He asked.

"With what? From what I remember, you don't start with any equipment." I told him.

"Uh. . . How do I check?" He then asked me.

"Think inside of your head, and say Show Inventory." I commented to him.

"Alright." He said.

After a few moments, a knife came out into his hand.

". . ."

". . ."

"WHAT THE FUCK!" I yelled.

{Zoe! How the fuċk does he have a knife?}

[Um. . . Not sure, let me find out.]

"I take it you had nothing?" He asked me.

"Correct. . . I literally started with nothing except the clothes on my back." I told him.

"Well, I've got some other stuff in there too. I've got some clothes, some potions it looks like, and this knife." He then told me.

". . ."

". . ."

"I hate you. . ." Was all I said.

I threw the rabbit at him, and then started cutting into my own rabbit. I took and pinched the back of its neck, then took my knife and cut the skin I had a hold of. After letting go, I took and cut off the rabbits feet right below the knee. While doing that I looked up to see how Dj was doing. He honestly wasn't doing too badly, he just got off the right front foot when I was looking at him. Then I decided to continue what I was doing. I then took the rabbit, and put two fingers at the fur around its neck, and took my other hand and put my fingers into the skin on its back. I then pulled with my right hand towards its tail area while keeping my left hand where it was. After I got the skin to the tail area, I kept pulling until it reached its back feet. I decided I wasn't going to pull the skin completely off yet, so I just cut the back feet off the rabbit too. After that, I took and pulled the skin at its neck to the base of its skull, then I cut the head right off it. After removing the skin and head, I turned the rabbit over. I placed my knife on the stomach area and lightly cut the muscle to the point it went through, but not enough to cut the stomach. I took the knife all the way up to the little bit of neck there was. After that, I took my fingers and removed the intestines out of the rabbit. I also cut around the rabbit's anus, that way I could just get the intestines out easier. After that, I took some water out of my inventory to clean out the rest of the loose blood, and any other foreign contaminants. I took and stabbed a stick through the ċhėst area, and tied a string around the hind legs to keep it on the stick. I looked over to Dj, and he was still removing the intestines out of it.

"Wow, I didn't realize you knew how to fully skin a rabbit. . ." I commented.

"Yeah, my Dad taught me quite a bit when I was younger, but sadly I can't use it with him anymore. . ." He mentioned to me with a sad look in his eyes.

"I know you will miss him bud, but there isn't anything we can do about that right now sadly. . . From what I know, we won't be able to go back over for a very long time, or if at all." I told him.

"I figured as much. . . Do you miss your Mom?" He then asked.

"Yeah I do, I miss all of my family, and the few friends I did have. It's just that I can't do anything about it right now, all I can hope for is that they will be able to continue their lives." I commented.

"True. . . True. . . Well, here is the rabbit." He told me while throwing the rabbit towards me.

"Alright, thanks bud. I'll put them on in about a half hour. I'm actually getting pretty hungry right now. Haha. . ." I commented while laughing a little bit.

"You're still a garbage disposal, I see. Haha. . ." Dj mentioned while laughing.

"Indeed I am." I said with a smile on my face.

"So. . . I wanted to ask you this, but when it was just you and I." Dj started saying.

"What's up?" I then asked.

"You saw my death didn't you. . .?" He asked me.

". . ." I was just looking at him, then I started to remember what I had seen. " Yes. . . Yes I saw everything. The only thing I couldn't, was I couldn't hear anything being said. . ." I told him calmly.

"I see. . . I'm sorry you had to witness my death. . . It was very poor on my part. I should have been able to get the gun away from him, but it somehow went off without us pulling the trigger." He commented to me.

"Neither one of you pulled the trigger? Hmm. . . That is strange. . ." I commented.

"Are you thinking about something?" He then asked me.

"Yeah I am. . . Give me a sec." I told him.

{Zoe?}

{Zoe are you there?}

[Sorry, I'm here. I just got back from my discussion with The System. It doesn't exactly know how, but it was the one that gave Devin the items in his inventory. I think the God that made The System is the one that did it.]

{Well that is reassuring. . . Anyways, I think there is a God in Devin's death too. He told me that neither one of them pulled the trigger that resulted in his death.}

[Hmm. . . That is peculiar. . . I mean there are other Gods here in this world. . . It's just that none of them had the power to affect the other world. Unless they found something that could help them bring death to another world to help them gain power.]

{What God though? I thought there was only one, and that was the one that created The System and this world.}

[Ha. . . I wish that was the case. Don't get me wrong. That was the only God that could create this world and make The System, but he wasn't the only God here. There are others. . . There are a lot of Gods and Goddesses, just like there are Demi-Gods and Demi-Goddesses.]

{Am I able to know any of their names yet?}

[No, you are too weak right now to even worry about that right now.]

{Alright, thank you for the info though.}

[No problem!]

"So, I did find out how you got your stuff. The System gave it to you even though it doesn't remember doing it. We think it was God that created it, that did that. Now for your death. . . Zoe is thinking it was another God that did it. She doesn't exactly know how, but she does believe it was a God from over here." I told him.

"Hmm. . . This is a first for me. . . Hearing about Gods is different when they are actually real. . ." Dj commented.

"Indeed it is, but I've come to learn from this world that anything can be real. . ." I mentioned it to him.

"That is true. . ." He said.

"Alright, that's enough. Let's cook these." I commented.

I took the sticks with the rabbits on them, and placed them near the fire to start cooking. I just watched them cook for about 45 minutes until they were crispy and smelled delicious. I gave Dj his rabbit, and took mine. I had also already placed a piece of meat from my ring for Orion near the fire earlier, so I threw him his too.

"No problem bud." I told him.

"Huh?" Dj asked with a weird look on his face.

"Oh yeah, Orion and Onyx can talk, but for now they can only communicate through my mind." I told him.

"Oh, that sounds pretty cool." He commented, then started eating his rabbit.

"Indeed it is." I mentioned.

I started eating my rabbit, but sadly it didn't take me long to eat all of it. I threw the stick into the fire at that point, and just waited patiently for Dj to finish his rabbit. It took him maybe another ten minutes to eat all of his. In that time frame Orion had eaten his entire rabbit, plus the bones.

"Wow, that was really good. I didn't realize rabbits could taste so good over here. . ." He commented with a surprised look on his face.

"That would be because we don't have all the contaminants over here like we did in our world." I mentioned to him.

"I guess you're right. Anyways, I think I should go to sleep now. I'm pretty tired already. . ." He said before he started yawning.

"Alright, just make sure not to wake Arialle up, or she might kill you." I told him.

"Haha. . . She wouldn't kill me. . . Would she. . .?" He commented shakily.

"Yes. . . Yes she would. She can be quite feisty if she gets woken up before a certain time frame." I told him.

"Ok. . . I definitely won't wake her up then." He said, then he went to the tent and entered it quietly.

I just shook my head, then started staring up at the stars.

{I wonder how Mom is doing. . .}
