Before Lady Melissa had realized, it had almost been a week since she had hosted the ball.
Lady Melissa had been so busy that she hadn't even realized it!
She was going to be attending Lady Celine's tea party in two days, which she was completely excited for, but at the same time she was completely nervous.
It would be her first time ever attending a ball, and hopefully not be the last.
She wanted to give off a good impression to all the noblewomen that would be attending the party tomorrow.
Who knows maybe she would even get more friends and connections just by the teaparty hosted by Lady Celine Candice Mendora.
She hoped she would, as it would be incredibly beneficial for her future plans regarding the Crown Prince.
"Lady Melissaaaa!A letter's arrived for you! It's from the Mieth estate."
Lady Melissa's maid, Sophia shouted out to her mistress.
"Give me a second Sophia."
Lady Melissa responded.
That was when the realization hit in, did her maid Sophia, just say Mieth estate?
Within just a few seconds Lady Melissa was already running to Sophia and what was more suprising that Lady Melissa was running in her high heels!
Which was an incredible pain in the ass to do, but it was as if Lady Melissa didn't feel the pain or maybe she was some industrictible robot from another world that couldn't feel pain at all.
Though it was probably the first option, Lady Melissa was too excited with the news of a letter from the Mieth family that she had completely forgotten about everything at that moment, including the pain she was feeling right then and there.
Lady Melissa snatched the letter from Sophia's hands.
"Ah!"
Sophia gasped, she was shocked since her mistress Lady Melissa had all of a sudden just grabbed the letter from her.
When Lady Melissa was just 10 feet across her a few seconds ago.
Lady Melissa didn't waste a single second before ripping the letter open.
"Dear Lady Melissa,
It is I Gaston Berniece Mieth from the Mieth estate.
I would like to discuss matters with you in the famous pastry shop, I had rented out the whole place so do not worry about anything.
I am expecting to see you at the venue at 2 PM, please make sure to arrive on time as I have important things to do as well.
Until then, stay safe Lady Melissa.
-Yours truly
Duke Gaston Berniece Mieth.
'That was....blunt?'
Lady Melissa thought to herself, she knew that Duke Gaston Berniece Mieth was a person with little words but she didn't expect him to be writing letters like...that.
Maybe she was a little bit disappointed because the letter wasn't what Lady Melissa had expected.
But nonetheless she was still of course excited to meet Duke Gaston tomorrow.
I mean how could she not be?
It was Duke Gaston Berniece Mieth of all people, and he was quite the attractive young man after all.
She was reminded of a saying 'Beauty is a waste when the beholder has no taste' luckily for her this time the beholder(Gaston) had taste.
Though Lady Melissa was quite curious on how Duke Gaston would react to her offer.
She thought that there would be around a 60-70 percent chance of Duke Gaston accepting the offer, after all he had longed to see his sister.
He had been searching for her for years, and finding such little information was already hard enough as it was.
But a complete promise to find his sister for him?
It was a tempting deal, if Lady Melissa had a sister and was put into the situation she would've probably agreed and helped against the Crown Prince's rebellion.
Lady Melissa did long for a sister or a brother, she didn't care whether it was a boy or girl, she longed for a younger or older sibling.
Being the only child wasn't all fun, sure she had more time and love from her parents but she wanted to have siblings like all the other noblewomen with older or younger siblings.
She had often envied those that had siblings, though she had often hid it.
She knew that it was just a small matter yet she was just so jealous of everyone else having a sibling, while she did not.
She wanted someone to talk to, someone to have fun with and someone to tell all her secrets with.
Someone Lady Melissa could create an unbreakable bond with and someone she could wholeheartedly trust all of her secrets with.
She longed for that special someone, she just wanted someone to always be there for her, no matter the difficulties and obstacles she would have to face in her life.
She had wanted this for so long now, just to have a special someone.
She knew that siblings weren't always the most idealistic, as she had her fair share of seeing siblings getting abused by each other.
Yet somehow Lady Melissa had always kept a positive light on siblings, it was probably because she wanted one so bad.
Lady Melissa didn't care about the age difference with her and her sibling if she hypothetically did have one, she just wanted one.
Lady Melissa hoped that one day, she could be able to find that special someone for her, she wanted to be loved, appreciated snd so much more.
Little did she know about what was going to happen in the future.
But yet she desperately wanted to have a special someone.
It was as if one of the items on her bucket list, having a special someone.
Of course the rebellion against the Crown Prince was her main priority but her second priority would be having fun, living her life, enjoying it and finally finding that special someone for herself.
Lady Melissa wanted to have a special someone so desperately, this was due to the lack of love and attention she had received from her past life.
Lady Melissa admitted to herself, it was selfish of her to want so much when she was given a second life, but she couldn't help herself.
Humans were made to be selfish.
And what could she do when Lady Melissa herelf was simply a human?
Lady Melissa realized she was overthinking, it was quite the bad habit of hers.
As usually her overthinking would make normal situations turn bad.
But just sometimes, she was grateful for her overthinking, it had made her prepare about all kinds of situations that might happen. So she was basically prepared for all kinds of events that would happen.
It was both a blessing and curse to Lady Melissa.
Yes overthinking was bad sometimes but sometimes overthinking was good too, Lady Melissa had learned to be prepared for all sorts of events through her overthinking.
'I need to snap out of my thoughts!'
Lady Melissa had realized she had just dozed off into the land of imagination yet again, well to be completely fair Lady Melissa was quite the creative person.
So she had often daydreamed about all sorts of events.
Lady Melissa then realized she still had the letter Duke Gaston Berniece Mieth sent to her sitting right on her desk.
'The best thing to do was probably to burn in the chimney.'
Lady Melissa thought, and she could just tell her maid Sophia to not tell anyone regarding the letter Duke Gaston sent to her.
Though Lady Melissa doubted Sophia would tell anyone either.
Sophia was a kind and caring person, who was loyal to her masters/mistresses.
Lady Melissa remembered in her past life, when even through everything that had happened to her, Sophia was the only maid that had kept sticking by her side.
Sophia always defended and believed Lady Melissa, yet because of the very same reason Lady Melissa admired Sophia for, Sophia was brutally executed.
And guess who was behind Sophia's execution? It was the Crown Prince of course!Lady Melissa was obviously saddened by Sophia's execution, yet till the very end Sophia had always been there for Lady Melissa.
Thus Lady Melissa didn't want to make the same mistake she did in her past life, she would protect Sophia from the Crown Prince.
The Crown Prince tried to manipulate Lady Melissa into thinking that Sophia was 'just another maid' and that she was easily replaceable.
Lady Melissa originally wouldn't believe the Crown Prince's words at all, but the Crown Prince would just repeat the same line over and over again.
And well, she ended up starting to have that same line engraved into her head.
That Sophia was 'just another maid' and that she could be easily replaceable, Lady Melissa's knuckles were red now.
Due to how angry she was even thinking of the incident, this was why she wanted to take revenge on the Crown Prince.
For her family, for the people who had always been with her from the start, but most importantly for herself.
Lady Melissa needed to take revenge on the Crown Prince, she knew she wouldn't be able to live peacefully knowing that the Crown Prince was still alive.
She just couldn't.
Lady Melissa's anger at the Crown Prince increased by every day that had passed.
She just wanted revenge on him so badly, besides that was why she was even given a second chance.
So finally, she could take her revenge on the Crown Prince.
