Lady Melissa opened her eyes, not feeling the impact of the bullet at all, thinking that perhaps she was dead and that for some strange reason she hadn't felt the pain of the bullet at all.

Instead, she was met with Duke Mason in front of her, protecting her just a few seconds before the bullet was about to hit her.

Duke Mason clutched his heart, blood seeping out from his body from the bullet that was fired earlier.

"I'm okay."

Duke Mason said, with a painful expression on his face, using his right hand to cover the gun so that the man wouldn't be able to shoot anywhere else except for the duke's hands.

Lady Melissa had a panicked expression on her face, Duke Mason getting hit by a bullet was one thing.

But getting hit by a bullet because of HER? Now that was a completely different thing. Lady Melissa was worried what the man would do, especially with the sinister laugh he had just given to the both of them.

Lady Melissa had started to sense the severity of the whole situation ever since the man had landed a punch and kick to both her body and face multiple times.

No, maybe she had realized it from the start yet for some reason she acted immature and playful thinking that all of this was just something fun for her to do.

When instead, it was a reality. None of this was a joke, she had watched a woman getting murdered in real life and she simply thought of this as something fun?

She needed to remind herself she was no longer the immature Lady Melissa she used to be, she was given a second chance for a reason.

How could she have been acting this way the entire time? Like some spoiled bratty girl, giving up so easily.

Lady Melissa was suddenly snapped from her thoughts as she heard another shot being fired, this time however was aimed at her.

Luckily for her, she had managed to dodged it, barely dodged it, the bullet had ended up hitting her hair when it was originally supposed to hit her chest.

A few strands of her hair had unfortunately been cut off due to the bullet but it wasn't anything she couldn't grow again.

Lady Melissa could notice that Duke Mason was limping, barely able to stand up as he looked like he was about to collapse at any moment.

Yet for some reason, he still tried to protect Lady Melissa, standing in front of her and protecting her.

Duke Mason slowly turned his head back, only then realizing that the bullet had been shot to Lady Melissa.

Lady Melissa never knew Duke Mason's expression could look more painful than it previously was, but once again she was proven wrong.

Duke Mason had a more painful expression on his face this time, he was afraid of turning his head and finding Lady Melissa with a bullet in her heart.

He didn't want her to die, not now and not in the future either.

After spending a second or two turning his back around though, he quickly realized that Lady Melissa was completely alright, releasing the breath he didn't know he had been holding the entire time.

Duke Mason then realized that he had been letting his guard down as he was too worried about Lady Melissa's safety, quickly he put his guard back up once more, being alert and aware of anything the man would pull off.

The man had been staying silent the entire time, instead only smiling like a maniac the entirety of the whole situation, not looking panicked or worried.

Not a single bit of the man looked like he was panicked or worried, neither did his body show any of that.

Instead he looked confident as ever, almost as if the entire situation had been going along with his plan.

The man quickly loaded his gun once more, about to pull the trigger when all of a sudden Lady Melissa heard footsteps from behind the man.

Lady Melissa, was desperate, and she clung onto that tiny piece of hope left, hoping that maybe someone had finally caught on to what was happening and would rescue her and Duke Mason.

"GET DOWN ON YOUR HANDS AND KNEES NOW!"

"AND DROP THE WEAPON!"

Lady Melissa and Duke Mason quickly complied, not wanting to be injured by whoever was saying that, or worse dead.

The both of them quickly got on their knees on the ground, Lady Melissa was curious to know who it was though so she quickly looked up, sparing a glance.

It was none other than Baron Kevin, with a gun in his hand, and some reinforcements behind him, ready to fight the man.

Lady Melissa then quickly looked at the man, wondering how he was reacting to the whole situation.

Unsurprisingly the man was as calm and cool as ever, simply nodding his head and slowly getting down on his knees.

Before he dropped the gun.

Just as Baron Keevin was moving forward to approach Lady Melissa and Duke Mason suddenly the man took his gun, quickly pulling the trigger on it.

Before anybody could even react or understand what was happening, it was too late.

A bullet had been shot, and this time the man didn't miss, instead he shot right in the heart.

Lady Melissa felt as if the scene that was unfolding in front of her eyes was in slow motion, she could see the reinforcements from behind panicking, their expressions who had initially been calm had now been panicked and worried.

They were worried for Baron Kevin and understandably so, he had been shot right in his heart by a bullet.

Baron Kevin looked at Lady Melissa one last time, giving her one last smile, before closing his eyes, staying still and not moving a single bit after.

Lady Melissa was unable to do anything but watch the whole scene unfold in front of her eyes, helpless not being able to do anything.
