Baron Kevin had been there for her for so many occasions yet Lady Melissa couldn't even be there for him even ONCE.
Lady Melissa loved Baron Kevin, but the fact that she didn't even try to protect him? That she simply stayed on the ground in silence?
Almost as if she was anticipating his death to happen.
That was what one part of Lady Melissa's brain thought, it was making her feel more shitty about the whole situation.
The other part of Lady Melissa's head was telling about how she was a murderer, and how she wasn't any better than the man she had killed.
That there was no difference between her and the man, to some extent, was true.
Lady Melissa just felt so guilty about the whole thing, and if she could just have a second chance she would've never done it.
If only it was that easy, that she could simply just have a second chance at this then all her worries would simply disappear, and she wouldn't have to mourn the death of her childhood friend.
Lady Melissa was...just so disappointed in herself and sad at the same time.
Which are two emotions that don't mix well with each other.
Lady Melissa walked and walked and walked, till she had finally reached the Shayla estate.
This time, Lady Melisssa didn't care that much whether anyone would catch her or not.
Of course she did her usual thing, such as putting on the invisibility spell and everything, but she wasn't as careful as last time.
After all, she was still mourning deep inside.
Luckily, nobody seemed to notice her, but she had almost gotten caught by the guards numerous times due to her carelessness.
Lady Melissa went up the stairs, she quickly checked her watch wondering what time it was now.
It was currently.....4 NO 5 AM!
It had been 3-4 hours that Lady Melissa had spent, two or three of them had probably been with Jack The Ripper.
While the remaining time was probably used for her to get back home.
Lady Melissa's pupils widened the moment she saw the time, great for her, no sleep at all.
Lady Melissa sarcastically and grumpily thought, as if losing her friend wasn't enough she wouldn't get any sleep.
Well she probably wouldn't get any sleep due to her friend's death in the first place but laying in bed would certainly be better.
The worst part was that she wouldn't be able to tell anyone about what happened to Baron Kevin, or else...everything she had worked for, the woman she had seen murdered, and Victoria, and many other women's deaths would all go to waste.
Lady Melissa slowly climbed up the stairs, into her bed, as Sophia was walking down the stairs.
Lady Melissa had almost been caught by Sophia, who was carrying some laundry.
Sophia had been putting her head down, looking at the laundry while she was going down the stairs.
Neither did Lady Melissa notice her at all, the both of them had happened to walk past each other without the other one knowing.
Lady Melissa slowly opened her door, thinking that Victoria was probably waiting for her, by sitting at the desk.
Lady Melissa opened the door, and it was what she had expected, Victoria sitting down on her chair at the desk.
Victoria happened to look like she was sleeping, and Lady Melissa didn't want to wake her up, feeling a little bad about the fact that she had asked Victoria to take control of her body the whole day.
However, just as Lady Melissa was about to go to her bed, wanting to be able to stay in it for a few more minutes before being forcefully woken up.
Victoria however had suddenly woken up, standing up to greet Lady Melissa while rubbing her eyes.
"Lady Melissa! You're finally back!"
Victoria whisper-shouted, excited at the sight of Lady Melissa while still being careful not to wake anyone.
Though most of the people who were living in the Shayla estate had probably been awake already to perform their duties as servants or maids.
Then again it was always better to be safe than sorry, besides what if the maids or servants heard an unknown voice talking to Lady Melissa?
They'd probably freak out and maye even call some of the guards to accompany them just to make sure Lady Melissa was safe and sound.
"Yeah, would you mind keeping your voice down though Victoria? I don't want to alert anyone."
Lady Melissa said, sounding as if she was tired, which was true, she was tired and just wanted to lay in bed and do nothing.
"Oh alright Lady Melissa."
Victoria quickly replied this time lowering her voice, looking at Lady Melissa and realizing that she probably had a bad day.
"Thank you, now you can go back into my pendant right now, and you'll be replacing me as well tomorrow, if you don't mind?"
Lady Melissa desperately asked, she didn't feel like doing all the lessons and things she had planned out tomorrow.
Although she felt a tad bit bad for Victoria having to replace her two days in a row, she needed to meet Duke Mason and discuss the incident that had happened earlier.
"I mean I completely understand if you don't want Victoria- you can always just say no you know?"
Lady Melissa said, hoping that her request didn't sound like a threat or order to Victoria, as she didn't want to force Victoria into doing anything she didn't want to.
"Oh you don't have to worry about it Lady Melissa, I enjoy replacing you. Wait no- I didn't mean it that way."
Victoria said, stumbling over her words as she tried to recollect herself and explain to Lady Melissa what she truly meant.
"I enjoy being in the outside world and not trapped in some dark place, no offense, I enjoy socializing and interacting with people."
Victoria said, putting a smile on her face, grateful that thanks to Lady Melissa she was able to see the outside world once more.
