Lady Melissa just didn't want to go through that, she had already gone through it before with the Crown Prince and that had scarred her, she just simply didn't want to go through the same thing over and over again, and who could blame her?

Being betrayed by an acquaintance or a friend was one thing, but being betrayed by your lover or by a close friend was another thing.

It was just something you could never move on from, as much as Lady Melissa had tried to do so, she would never be able to move on from an incident like this.

Deep down, even if Lady Melissa couldn't bring herself to admit it, she was still very much hurt and affected by it.

She only acted as if she had already moved on, fake it till you believe it right? So Lady Melissa faked it, hoping that if she did so maybe it would become a reality and she could just move on with her life.

Lady Melissa wanted to move on with her life, but she wanted to get revenge on the Crown Prince as well.

Maybe once she has her revenge on the Crown Prince she'll be ready to move on from this and just enjoy her life.

Lady Melissa looked back at the report, there were thirty maids in total who had black and straight hair, and out of the thirty maids who had black and straight hair, Lady Melissa had managed to circle five of them in blue ink.

This had certainly narrowed down Lady Melissa's list, and this way she would have a much easier time in finding out which one of the maids had committed the crime.

And, which one of the maids she should fire, and ban permanently from the Shayla estate since well the maid committed the crime.

Lady Melissa decided that it would be best for her to list out each of the maid's names and maybe the causes of why each of them would do such a crime.

The first maid, Sophia, her personal attendant. Sophia's little brother was very sick and so she may have committed the crime in exchange for more money for her little brother so he could get better.

Though Lady Melissa was confused, she was pretty sure that the Shayla estate paid their employees well, especially someone of Sophia's status.

Sophia wasn't just a regular or normal maid, she was Lady Melissa's maid. The Lady of the Shayla estate's maid, she was better educated from the other employees and had better skills from them, and her pay was also higher than the other maids.

That was why Lady Melissa was confused why Sophia would need to commit the crime in exchange for money, if Sophia did commit the crime.

Lady Melissa knew something wasn't adding up, she needed someone to investigate this.

Luckily for her, her parents had informed her that there was going to be a guard watching her every move to make sure she was safe.

Lady Melissa managed to pull some strings, and the guard that was going to be watching her, she could trust as it was one of her friend's old guards.

Lady Melissa had managed to ask her friend to give the guard to her, in exchange for some cash of course.

And the guard wasn't an ordinary one either, he was one of the best guards her friend had, who was unwilling to give in at first but then ended up doing so because she owed a favour to Lady Melissa.

The guard was also a very loyal one, and always shut his mouth since he knew what was best for him.

The guard was supposed to come tomorrow, on a Monday, and Lady Melissa was probably going to ask him to investigate Sophia and why she would do such a thing.

Lady Melissa opted to ask Derreck to do it for her, but she was sure he was already suspicious of what she had asked him to do.

So, Lady Melissa decided she didn't want Derreck knowing more regarding the situation and what she was trying to find out.

Hence, she would ask her new guard to do it for her tomorrow, when she finally meets him, in the Shayla estate of course.

The second maid, Jane. Jane was a girl who had grown in the farm and her family was in debt, now this would be alright since she was paid well, but her father liked to gamble a lot and their debt kept growing every time she tried to reduce it with her paycheck.

Lady Melissa made a mental note that she should just probably ask her new guad to investigate all the maids she had narrowed down her list of suspects to.

Since, well all five of them had reasons to commit such a crime, Lady Melissa made another mental note to ask the new guard for his name since she didn't do so the last time she met him.

Moving onto the third maid was Hannah, a girl who was originally from a well-off peasant family, and had a higher status then most of the maids working in the Shayla estate.

Hannah had ended up on Lady Melissa's list of suspects, due to Lady Melissa's gut feeling, it seemed completely random, but Lady Melissa just felt as if something was different about Hannah.

Something was different about Hannah than the rest of the maids (the other maids who had straight black hair, not the five maids).

Hannah didn't seem like she would commit a crime, she looked like an innocent girl, though Lady Melissa wasn't sure since she didn't recall any interactions with Hannah.

If Lady Melissa was wrong about Hannah then good for her, but if she was right, then Hannah could be one of her suspects.

The fourth maid was Xiangling, a maid whose family had extorted Xiangling in the past before for money.

Perhaps Xiangling was forced to make more money because of her greedy family? And because of the pressure from her family she decided to commit the crime for more money?

But, what if Lady Melissa had been seeing things completely wrong? What if the maids weren't doing this for money?
