What if perhaps the maid who had committed the crime did it because they wanted to? Maybe there was a reason that Lady Melissa just didn't know about?

Maybe there was an explanation why the maid would commit a crime against her? Like maybe for revenge?

It was a gut feeling of Lady Melissa's and she just couldn't let this incident go so easily, she couldn't allow herself to do so.

But things would change this time right? This time she would be able to have the life she always wanted, and have her revenge on the Crown Prince.

This time she would be able to make friends and everything would be sunshine and rainbows, this time, she wouldn't get betrayed by anyone or anymore.

This time, it would be different, and Lady Melissa would make sure of that, she couldn't let the past repeat itself.

She wouldn't let herself go through the pain she had gone through last time, she couldn't let herself do such a thing.

If Sophia was going to betray her, even if it was on her own, or if it was with someone else, she wouldn't let her.

Lady Melissa was going to betray Sophia before Sophia would do the same thing to her, if of course Sophia had even been the one committing the crime.

Lady Melissa tried to assure herself that Sophia didn't commit the crime, there was no evidence that she had done so.

But, Lady Melissa should keep herself ready, what if Sophia did do the crime, then what? What would Lady Melissa do?

Lady Melissa had to prepare herself for the worst-case scenario, she had to prepare herself whoever she trusted whether that very same person would betray her.

It honestly scared her, the fact that whenever she had to open up she would have to prepare herself just in case it happened to her.

But, it was for the best, Lady Melissa wanted to prepare herself, so she wouldn't be that hurt if the person did end up betraying her.

It was selfish of course, but it was Lady Melissa's way of coping with things, she would rather she do things on her own rather than someone do it to her.

Like for example, pushing away, Lady Melissa would do it first if she could see her friend or something that looked as if they were going to start or do it to Lady Melissa.

It was a bad habit of Lady Melissa's but she couldn't help herself, it was practically her defense mechanism now.

It was unhealthy, and in the end, it would usually end up hurting Lady Melissa more and more, but it was her way of coping.

It was Lady Melissa's way of coping in life, it was something she would do to try and defend herself when she was scared or didn't know what to do.

Lady Melissa had already spent enough time thinking about her feelings and everything, she needed to be discussing the last maid.

The last maid was Janet, although Jane and Janet's names sounded similar they weren't sisters, no not at all.

They weren't even friends either, the most they were was at least acquaintances, not close enough to be called friends.

Janet, similar to the other maid, had a dysfunctional family who was in debt, and this time both her parents were gambling addicts.

So, Janet being the eldest child of theirs, tried finding a job, and she had proper education and skills and managed to be a part of one of the Shayla estate's maids.

Nothing much to see there, it was like one of the maid's backgrounds combined with another maid's and it ended up becoming Janet's background.

Lady Melissa then went downstairs, ready to eat dinner with her parents, whom she hoped was there.

Lady Melissa saw the dining table, and it was empty. 

'They're just dealing with some work, I'm sure they'll be here soon.'

Lady Melissa thought, assuring herself that her parents would soon enough go downstairs and to the dining room, and eat dinner with her.

They had to be there right? Lady Melissa wanted to have a chat with them and talk to them, even if it was for a little while.

But, it was obvious that her parents were busy these past few days, and Lady Melissa felt as if she was a burden by asking her to eat with her.

The time they spent with her could be better spent on themselves sleeping, after working hard for their daughter,

It was the last Lady Melissa could do right? Besides, it was only a chat with her parents, it wasn't like she wasn't gonna see them every day for the rest of her life.

So, Lady Melissa decided that from now on she wouldn't ask or force her parents to eat with her.

And that she would try to be the best and most understanding daughter she could be for them so that she could be less of a burden.

Lady Melissa smiled a bit, she had really grown from how she had used to be in her previous life huh.

There were just so many ways Lady Melissa had changed, and it was in a good and positive way.
