Everyone was scared of being judged, and even the littlest words could affect and ruin a person's reputation.

Lady Melissa was no exception to that, she was afraid to be judged, no less by hundreds or even thousands of people in high society.

But she didn't have a choice, she was born into the Shayla family, and she knew that she would be judged no matter where she went, just because of her family.

The smallest actions Lady Mleissa did would make society judge her, even if it was the simplest act of speaking.

It was the burden that came along from being a child of the Shayla family, the only child.

Maybe some of the spotlight would've been shared with her sibling, if she had one, and the expectations from society would decrease, but Lady Melissa would never know.

She wouldn't have a sibling anytime soon, and it would probably stay that way.

Lady Melissa was given high expectations ever since she was a child, she was expected by society to be able to be academically talented, amongst other things.

Lady Melissa managed to exceed society's expectations though, and sooner society would increase their expectations of her everytime she managed to meet it.

Until Lady Melissa would start to get tired of this, trying to meet society's expectations.

She had tried so hard to meet their expectations because she knew of the backlash she would be facing if she didn't meet their expectations.

Lady Melissa was however suddenly snapped away from her thoughts, when there was suddenly a knock on the door.

'Finally.'

Lady Melissa thought, thinking that her bodyguard was finally here.

"Can I come in?"

Lady Melissa knew that voice, it was Sophia.

She let out a sigh, before quickly telling Sophia to get in.

"Come in Sophia."

Sophia quickly came in, gently closing the door behind her.

"Good Morning Lady Melissa, I know you said last time that you didn't want to read any of the letters since there was an overbearing amount of them, but I believe it is time for you to reply to the letters."

Sophia said, talking about the letters which she had brought up to Lady Melissa.

Lady Melissa had wanted to attend, but at that time she had a lot on her plate, well now realizing it she did have a lot on her plate, all the time.

Lady Melissa let out a sigh, telling Sophia to get the letters out that was sent this month, deciding that she would go and read each and every one of them and decide which ones she would reply to, or which balls she would go to.

"Give me a second Lady Melissa."

Sophia said, as she left Lady Melissa's room to go and fetch all the letters that had been sent to Lady Melissa this month, which Sophia had neatly organised into a bundle.

Soon, Sophia came back, a bundle of letters, in her hand, as she put them on Lady Melissa's desk.

"That's much more than I expected."

Lady Melissa said, surprised at the number of letters she had received from many nobles.

The amount of letters that was on her table was more than the total amount of letters she received in her past life.

So, this was a pleasant surprise to Lady Melissa.

"If there's nothing else you should leave now Sophia."

Lady Melissa said, dismissing Sophia.

"Yes, Lady Melissa."

Sophia said, bowing her head down.

Just as Lady Melissa was about to open the first letter that was right in front of her, on her desk, there was suddenly another knock on the door.

"Come in!"

Lady Melissa shouted, and this time there was no response, instead the door was opened, and there was Derreck (who she had expected to deliver the news of the new guard to her) and the new bodyguard for her.

"Good Morning Lady Melissa, this is Justin, he will be your bodyguard from now on, since your parents have realised how dangerous it is, and they want you to be as safe as possible."

Derreck said, explaining why her parents had got a bodyguard for Lady Melissa.

Lady Melissa knew that, it wasn't the only reason though, she knew her parents wanted to spy on her and see what she was doing after the whole fiasco of her forgetting to tell Victoria to take her place for the first few hours of the day, which led the Shayla estate to a complete panic.

"So what will Derreck do? Will he be watching my every move and protect me?"

Lady Melissa asked, curious as to how Derreck would protect her.

"Well, I wouldn't phrase it like that, but Derreck will be accompanying you inside of the manor, and outside, just in case anything happens to you."

Derreck said, explaining to Lady Melissa what Justin would do.

"Alright, you can dismiss yourself."

Lady Melissa said, as Derreck bowed his head before leaving her and Justin alone.

Lady Melissa waited a few seconds, before making sure that the coast was clear, opening her drawer and getting the file filled with the five maids whom she had colored. She had placed the five maids into a separate file, so it would be easier for Justin.

Lady Melissa took the file, as she told Justin to come nearer, and she closed the curtains, before standing up and giving him the file.

"I want you to research about these five maids, find everything you can on them."

Lady Melissa said, as she handed the file to Justin who took it, before quickly nodding his head, understanding Lady Melissa.

"And, do it as quickly as possible, don't let anyone find out."

Lady Melissa said, though she knew that Justin wouldn't let anyone find out, it was just a little reminder for him in case he forgot.

"Alright Lady Melissa, when would you want me to do it?"

Justin asked, wondering when Lady Melissa would want him to carry out her orders and find out about the maid, as he opened the file, skimming through the pages and spending a few seconds glancing at each of the maid's faces and names.
