"Oh?"

Duchess Victoria replied to Lady Melissa, almost as if she was questioning Lady Melissa's answer.

"Unfortunately though, the seat you previously sat on was full, maybe you can perhaps go and dance with some noblemen instead? Maybe one of them will catch your eye."

Duchess Victoria said, as Lady Melissa quickly glanced at the woman who was sitting on her seat, it was a different woman from the one whom Duchess Victoria had kicked out for Lady Melissa to be able to sit on the seat.

"I'd be delighted to dance, once again, thank you for the invitation, Duchess Victoria."

Lady Melissa said, as she quickly bowed her head down a bit to Duchess Victoria before she disappeared, going to dance.

Though it wasn't as if Lady Melissa had much of a choice, she had already told Duchess Victoria earlier that she'd go and dance.

Lady Melissa let out a sigh of relief, thankful that for now, she wasn't going to be tested by the Duchess any more.

Maybe she'd be tested by the Duchess later on in the party, but for now, she was safe from the Duchess' antics.

Lady Melissa made her way to the dance floor, as everyone was dancing together in groups of four or five.

Soon, the music from slow had quickly turned into more fast-paced music, as Lady Melissa quickly made her way, joining one of the groups.

Lady Melissa let out a smile as the other nobles did the same thing to her, the group consisting of three women, including Lady Melissa and two men.

Lady Melissa quickly joined in with what the others were doing, following their lead as she put her hands almost touching the man right in front of her, one she felt like she knew from somewhere, but just couldn't remember where or who the man was.

The man was charming, and he gave Lady Melissa a smile whenever she and his eyes met each other.

The man was wearing a yellow mask, and although Lady Melissa didn't like the colour yellow, the man had somehow made it fit his appearance and suit perfectly, the yellow mask complimented the man's blonde hair, and yellow eyes, almost as if he was made for the mask, though well he did had it custom made for him, so then again the mask was made for him.

Lady Melissa could see as well that his mask was a custom made one, and to a certain extent, it was similar to hers, though he had gold foil scattered all over the mask, making his mask unique compared to others.

Lady Melissa had a great time, as the unknown man's hands and she were so close, almost touching each other, only a few centimetres away from each other.

Soon enough, the music had once again changed, and this time Lady Melissa and the group that consisted of five people, including her, were unfortunately forced to split up.

Lady Melissa twirled her body, as a man soon caught her, as a song by the composer of Ludwig Van Beethoven was played, titled 'Moonlight Sonata.'

It was as if all the chattering had stopped, and everything that was left was the music, and Lady Melissa and this man.

This time, the man in front of her wore a different mask than the previous one, this man's mask was green, with little jewels glued into them, or stuck into them.

Lady Melissa stared at the man, as the both of them waltzed together, the man leading Lady Melissa who couldn't help but just continue to stare at him.

"Stare any longer at me, and you might as well regret it."

The man whispered to Lady Melissa's ear, as he made sure that others wouldn't be able to see or hear it.

He had adjusted his voice to a low tone, so only Lady Melissa would be able to hear it, after all his message was only meant for her.

"Did you plan this?"

Lady Melissa asked the man, as she had immediately recognized his voice; it was none other than Duke Mason that was standing right in front of her, with his hand on her waist, waltzing together with her.

"Well, I might have played a part or two by bribing a few people, though I must assure you that us dancing together is absolutely coincidental."

Duke Mason said, as he twirled Lady Melissa's body, having a fun time talking to her and dancing with her, in front of everybody, even if their identities were hidden

"I should've known."

Lady Melissa replied as Duke Mason thought she was offended for a second, before realizing that her reply was a joke.

"Oh, and next time drop by the manor will you? I'm sure you'd like to know all about the information that's waiting for you."

Duke Mason said, his eyes twinkling as Lady Melissa's eyes widened for a few seconds before she quickly regained her composure.

All of a sudden, there was a large commotion and it was as if time had continued; Lady Melissa was reminded that it wasn't just her and Duke Mason in this whole venue and that there were other people as well.

Lady Melissa and Duke Mason could hear people whispering with each other, as they stared at the direction in which people's eyes were staring.

Lady Melissa had almost let out a gasp, her eyes widened, and her gut was twisted; out of all the times why did it have to be now?

Just when Lady Melissa was having a fun time, and being able to forget all her worries for once; or at least for the next few hours, the universe just had to go and ruin it for her.

There, where everybody was whispering and staring at, at the very same door Lady Melissa had used to first enter the venue, was the Crown Prince, with no other than the brunette-haired woman that would haunt Lady Melissa's dreams every time she slept.

The brunette-haired woman spotted Lady Melissa, as she gave her a smile, and Lady Melissa could feel her heart sinking down to the ground.
