Lady Melissa as well as the other nobles had to wait a few more minutes though, they had to decide who was the winner as the servants looked through each of the animals that the nobles had caught.
Lady Melissa was guessing that the winner would either be the lion or the bear, nonetheless, it would be one of them.
After all, the lion was called the King of the jungle, though the bear was much bigger than the lion.
Lady Melissa patiently waited as the other ladies shot her looks, showing that they were jealous of her.
Lady Melissa didn't need to look up to know they were, not only did she have the most catches received along with Lady Whistledown, she just had to receive two out of those five catches from the top two most favoured bachelors that the capital had to offer.
Lady Whistledown shot Lady Melissa a smirk as she raised her eyebrows, almost as if she was trying to hint at something.
Lady Melissa shook her head, it wasn't like that, and she certainly didn't want Lady Whistledown to interpret things the wrong way.
Luckily, Lady Whistledown didn't have a crush on either Duke Mason, Duke Gaston, or even Duke Alphonso.
God knows what Lady Melissa would have to do if Lady Whistledown did have a crush on one of them, she certainly didn't want to become Lady Whistledown's enemy, that was for certain.
Soon enough it was finally time for the King to announce the winner as all of the noblemen held their breath, even the ones knowing that they didn't have a chance at winning.
"And the winner...is...."
The King said as everyone hoped for him to speak faster, the curiosity killing each and everyone of them.
"Duke Mason!"
The King said as everybody started clapping and congratulating him, by everybody it meant only the noblemen.
"His catch was offered to Lady Melissa."
The King continued as he smiled at Duke Mason.
"Now, without further ado, it's time for a little break!"
The King said as the members of the founding family went to the table that they were going to sit with the royal family members.
Lady Melissa approached the table as she slowly took a seat, Duke Alphonso soon sitting beside her.
Lady Melissa quickly took the small piece of paper from the pocket of her dress as she quickly handed it to Duke Alphonso, his eyes widening a bit before he understood what Lady Melissa was doing, she was trying to give him something.
Duke Alphonso quickly glanced down, as he put the piece of paper inside the pocket of his suit as everybody else started to take their own seats.
The King sat in the middle, at the front like the ones on the left were the Crown Prince and the brunette-haired woman, as the ones on the right were the Queen and the Crown Prince's younger brother, Prince Suga.
After that, were the King's closest aides, taking two seats, and then there was Duke Alphonso, out of all of the Crown Prince's closest aides, the Crown Prince had decided that Duke Alphonso would be sitting with him out of everyone.
As a few minutes had passed and everybody had gotten into their individual seats, the King stood up.
"A toast, to Duke Mason, and to my own son for his engagement."
The King said as he raised his glass which was filled with red wine, his face smiling.
Lady Melissa noticed the Crown Prince and the brunette-haired woman's intertwined fingers, though she didn't say anything about it, quickly focusing on the King once more.
"So, without further ado, it is time for the feast."
The King said as he stood down, drinking his wine as other nobles were about to do so as well.
Lady Melissa impatiently waited, it could happen any second now, she just had to be patient, she told herself.
Lady Melissa heard a gunshot, as her eyes darted to the King, it was in his direction after all.
Lady Melissa had to stop herself from smiling, finally, it was what he deserved, is what she would say if her teacher hadn't helped dodge the gunshot wound for the King.
Duchess Ella was standing right in front of the King, as the bullet was stuck in her stomach, immediately, Duchess Ella's husband who Lady Melissa had previously greeted and chatted with earlier ran to her.
He was more powerful than he looked, as he made sure that he wasn't going to get hit by a bullet. The other guards immediately came to protect the King, as they held each other's heads, the king being in the middle of it as they acted as a shield for him.
Duke Alphonso had grabbed Lady Melissa's arm, as he tugged on it, Lady Melissa running but it was hard to in high heels. Duke Alphonso, even amidst all the chaos, noticed how Lady Melissa was walking weirdly, as he quickly realized she was wearing high heels.
He quickly carried her bridal style, as he ran, carrying her to somewhere safe. Lady Melissa watched the scene unfolding behind her, as Duchess Ella's husband had carried his wife as well, running to find a doctor.
Lady Melissa knew that her teacher wouldn't die because of it, but she felt bad for her teacher.
Things weren't supposed to go this way, it shouldn't have.
Lady Melissa felt a little guilty, knowing that one of the reasons why Duchess Ella had that bullet stuck in her stomach right now was because of her.
She had messed with the timeline, from all the biggest and smallest actions she did. Lady Melissa decided that now wasn't the best time to be moping around, so she decided that she'd make up for her mistake.
Lady Melissa was going to spot the man who had shot her teacher, and she was going to get her revenge, for her teacher.
How dare someone like him injure her teacher? Her teacher had gotten multiple awards for the sacrifices she had made for her own country.
