Chapter 200 - 200

Lady Melissa moved her head in various directions as Duke Alphonso continued to carry her before she had found the sniper.

Although the man was disguised well, Lady Melissa's desperation was better against the man.

"Give me a bow now."

Lady Melissa said as Duke Alphonso was confused.

"Why?"

Duke Alphonso asked, wondering whatever the reason would be for Lady Melissa to ask him for a bow, though he didn't stop running at all.

"Just do it."

Lady Melissa said as she made sure the sniper hadn't seen her. Lady Melissa knew that the sniper was having a hard time trying to shoot the King, after all, it was hard to pinpoint his exact location.

"Touch my suit, you'll find it in my suit's left pocket."

Duke Alphonso said as Lady Melissa nodded her head. Lady Melissa searched for the bow in Duke Alphonso's suit, accidentally touching his rock hard abs multiple times, her face a blushing mess.

Lady Melissa quickly found the bow, and as luck would have it, there was an arrow as well. Lady Melissa searched Duke Alphonso's left and right pockets, seeing as if there were perhaps more arrows.

Duke Alphonso let out a growl, as Lady Melissa had accidentally brushed her hand against his nipples.

"Oh uh sorry."

Lady Melissa awkwardly apologized, as she somehow grew redder than she earlier was, if that was even possible.

"It's okay."

Duke Alphonso replied, not even once glancing at Lady Melissa as he was more focused on running.

Unfortunately, Lady Melissa had only found one arrow, even after searching through Duke Alphonso's suit pockets, both left and right.

Lady Melissa took a deep breath, she only had one chance to hit him, and she better makes the shot.

Lady Melissa held the bow in her hand, whilst Duke Alphonso was still carrying her, as he noticed her with the bow, not saying anything.

Lady Melissa took another deep breath, as she closed her eyes, aiming at the man, and as luck would have it, she had somehow miraculously hit him, or more specifically his sniper.

Although it wasn't exactly a bull's eye, she had hit the man's sniper, Lady Melissa let out a sigh of relief.

At least this was going to buy them time, and this way the man wouldn't be able to use his sniper to snipe at anyone, including her.

"Did you do what I think you did?"

Duke Alphonso asked Lady Melissa.

"Yes, I prefer it if you don't say a word about it."

Lady Melissa said as Duke Alphonso nodded his head, secretly impressed.

After what had seemed like ages Lady Melissa and Duke Alphonso had finally made it into a safe place.

There was a house of sorts that was used to prepare the food for the event, that the royal family had bought, and built, not knowing that the very same house was going to be acting as some sort of protection.

Duke Alphonso put Lady Melissa down after he had carried the both of them inside, as Lady Melissa looked at her, his dishevelled hair and his sweat, dripping down to his neck before it dripped down to hi-

Lady Melissa quickly stopped herself, cheeks filled with embarrassment after she realised what she was thinking of Duke Alphonso.

"Thank you."

Lady Melissa said as she maintained eye contact with Duke Alphonso.

"No problem. You have a little something here."

Duke Alphonso said as he leaned closer to Lady Melissa, as she felt his breath over her.

Lady Melissa closed her eyes, not knowing what she was expecting, as nothing came.

Duke Alphonso used his arm to tuck her hair behind her ear, as Lady Melissa went red, embarrassment taking over her body.

"Cute."

Duke Alphonso muttered under his breath, not knowing that Lady Melissa had heard him.

"Let's go upstairs, I believe that the other nobles are there."

Duke Alphonso said as he held Lady Melissa's wrist, bringing her upstairs, without realizing it.

Lady Melissa said nothing, her heart beating faster as she felt adrenaline rush through her veins. Did he seriously just call her cute? Or had she been hearing things wrong this entire time?

Lady Melissa quickly snapped out of it as both she and Duke Alphonso quickly made their way up the stairs, making sure that he locked the door before doing so.

Lady Melissa pulled her hand away from Duke Alphonso as he stopped moving for a few seconds, realizing what she had done before he continued to go upstairs.

As much as Lady Melissa would love to hold Duke Alphonso's hands, even amidst a crisis she couldn't be caught by other nobles doing so.

It could tarnish her reputation, and she didn't need any more scandals with the number of scandals she was going to get with Duke Gaston and Duke Mason after everyone had made their way safely.

"Let us in, I'm Duke Alphonso and she's Lady Melissa."

Duke Alphonso said, talking to the guards as he pointed to Lady Melissa.

The guards briefly shared a look with each other, both of them individually holding a shield and a spear on their arms, while guns were inside of their pockets.

"Go in, third room on the right."

One of the guards said, as the both of them quickly nodded their heads, making their way.

The rest of the time Lady Melissa spent with Duke Alphonso was spent in comfortable silence, as she could notice how tense he was.

Wishing that there was some sort of way for her to help him de-stress, seeing how stressed he looked, and she couldn't blame him.

Lady Melissa and Duke Alphonso had finally made their way into the room, after spotting multiple guards before doing so, all of them armed.

"Melissa?"

The Duchess and Duke of Shayla estate asked, and also Lady Melissa's parents, their voice sounding hoarse.

"Yes?"

Lady Melissa asked as she recognized the people that had been calling her name was none other than her very own parents, tears threatening to fall in their eyes.
