"Thank god you're safe."
The Duchess said, hugging her daughter as she let out tears of relief, she didn't care about the other nobles in the room, who were staring at her, all that mattered to her was that her sweet daughter was safe.
"Thank you."
The Duke mouthed to Duke Alphonso as he nodded his head, happy that he had somehow managed to bring back Lady Melissa safely back to her family, all while feeling sad that he didn't have a family to go back to.
Duke Alphonso soon left the room, going to find where the Crown Prince was, after all, the Crown Prince was his priority, even if he didn't want him to be.
The Duke soon joined Lady Melissa and her mother's hug, as the three of them hugged for a few minutes.
"I have to go now, I need to know about Duchess Ella's condition."
Lady Melissa said as she stopped hugging her parents, looking at both of them.
"You can always find out about her condition later Melissa, just stay here with us right now."
The Duchess said, not wanting her daughter to leave her side.
"I have to mom, she's my teacher."
Lady Melissa said, as her parents reluctantly agreed, sharing a look with each other.
"Just...stay safe okay?"
The Duchess said as the Duke said nothing, all three of them hugged for a little bit more as Lady Melissa smiled.
Lady Melissa wasn't going to let someone kill her so easily, what did her parents think she was? An ant?
Lady Melissa was much much MUCH more powerful than that, if only her parents and the other nobles hadn't doubted her she would be able to show them.
Lady Melissa stood up, as she left the room, going to ask the guards about the condition of Duchess Ella, or if they knew where she was.
"They're giving her surgery right now."
The guard said as he told Lady Melissa.
"What room?"
Lady Melissa asked, needing to see Duchess Ella.
"I'm not sure, but it's somewhere on this floor, good luck."
The guard plainly said as Lady Melissa thanked him.
It wasn't every day that she thanked someone who had a lower status or position than her, especially when it came to a maid or servant.
Lady Melissa was grateful though for the information, knowing that she should at least thank the guard for telling her.
Lady Melissa searched through multiple rooms, as she stumbled across one filled with maids, who were hugging each other, crying.
Needless to say, Lady Melissa quickly shut the door, as the maids had awkwardly stared at her, as Lady Melissa felt she was interrupting something, which she was.
Lady Melissa knew that the maids felt hopeless, feeling that they were going to die tonight, and that most of them had regrets.
Lady Melissa wasn't going to let that happen though, she wasn't going to let anyone die under her watch, unless that anyone was the Crown Prince, then she'd be more then delighted to kick him off a cliff or murder him by her very own hands instead.
Lady Melissa stumbled across another room, filled with food and water, as she let out a sigh of relief.
If things had come down to the worst, at least Lady Melissa knew that they could survive, the food and water that filled the room could last them for at least two or three months.
Which, Lady Melissa had hoped wouldn't be the time that all of them would be here, she didn't want to be stuck with all the nobles she despised for a whole month, or even more, as petty as it sounded given the current situation.
Eventually, Lady Melissa had stumbled across one of the rooms, noticing that it was a little more different than the others because of the fact that there were guards guarding the door, with tools in their hands.
More specifically, surgeon tools.
Lady Melissa politely asked about her teacher's condition, desperate to know whether she'd make it or not.
"She'll live, and the bullet will be out of her, we don't know how long it'll take though, and how much blood she'll lose. Maybe come back again in a few hours? We'll tell you about her condition then."
The guard said as he suggested an idea to Lady Melissa, feeling bad about it.
"Is there a male who came with her earlier?"
Lady Melissa asked, wondering if she could have a quick chat with Duke Ella's husband.
"Yeah, we had to force him to leave his wife, he was scared of something happening to her."
The guard said, as Lady Melissa nodded her head, thanking the guard before she quickly left, as she suddenly bumped into a man, her arms on the man's suit, or more specifically his abs.
"Sorry."
Duke Gaston said, not even sparing a glance to Lady Melissa, too busy with things.
"Duke Gaston?"
Lady Melissa asked, wondering if it was him.
"Lady Melissa?"
Duke Gaston asked, as his eyes finally locked with Lady Melissa's.
"Is backup coming?"
Lady Melissa asked, knowing that he had a plan, or at least she hoped so.
"Yeah, they'll be going in thirty minutes or so, but I need to go and meet them out now. I'll talk to you later okay Lady Melissa? In the meantime please stay safe, and whatever you do, do NOT leave this unless back-up arrives."
Duke Gaston said, emphasizing the NOT part.
"Thanks, and don't worry about me, I won't leave yet."
Lady Melissa said as she stopped her sentence looking at him in the eyes, noticing how majestic and handsome he looked, feeling as if she could stare in his blue eyes all day on hours at end, never getting bored by it.
Lady Melissa quickly snapped out of it though, reminding herself that Duke Gaston had places to be, so he could save all of them, she hoped he would make it through safely, she wouldn't know what to do if he didn't.
