Lady Melissa simply hoped that the criminals would do a better job on trying to kill the King next time, and not cause a commotion amongst the public; though she knew herself that was going to be practically impossible.
Lady Melissa could already imagine the headlines of multiple news companies, even though it was a Sunday, people needed to hear about the assassination attempt the King had gone through yesterday and all of the unfortunate guests that had been invited.
Lady Melissa could imagine as well her name being on multiple gossip articles, all because of the fact that she received catches from both Duke Gaston and Duke Mason, and also because of the fact that Duke Mason had won the hunting event, and out of all the noblewomen he had the choice to give it to, he had chosen her.
Lady Melissa was excited for the headlines for the brunette-haired woman though, as much as the King or anyone in the royal family would try to prevent the guests from spilling a word about yesterday's details, it was practically impossible to do so.
The number of guests was around one hundred and fifty to two hundred, and it was hard to keep many people's mouths shut.
Speaking of the Crown Prince and the brunette-haired woman, Lady Melissa hadn't bought any newspaper regarding Duchess Victoria's ball.
Since the ball was yesterday, then the newspaper should be released by now right?
News of the fact that the Crown Prince who had never appeared at social gatherings, events, etc suddenly appeared with a brunette-haired woman to Duchess Victoria's ball.
Lady Melissa knew that news companies were going to have content, at least for the next few weeks or so.
They had content about the fact that an assassination attempt in the hunting event held by the royal palace, and that Duchess Ella had been shot in the stomach to protect the King.
The Crown Prince and the brunette-haired woman's announcement for their engagement, the fact that Lady Yae had not received a single catch throughout the whole course of the hunting event.
Lady Melissa received catches from both Duke Gaston and Duke Mason, the number of catches that the Crown Prince had gotten for his fiance.
The Lady who had gotten the most catches, which was Lady Melissa herself, and none other than Lady Whistledown.
Lady Melissa was sure that there was so much more content that she hadn't remembered about, but too much had happened today, and Lady Melissa would love nothing more than to be able to sleep in the comfort of her own bed.
That is, if she could even sleep tonight, chances are, if she does sleep, she'll be awakened by the brunette-haired woman haunting her nightmares once again, for the hundredth time.
Lady Melissa needed to meet up with Duke Mason, she needed information on the Crown Prince's fiance, and she needed it now, more than ever.
Lady Melissa had arrived back at the Shayla estate, as she noticed her parent's carriage, realizing that they had somehow reached the house earlier than her when they had left a little after her.
Lady Melissa felt a little numb, as she immediately went into her room, and plopped onto her bed, not even changing out of the dress.
Lady Melissa wondered who had tried to assassinate the King, though she knew that it'd be solved in a matter of days, weeks if unlucky.
Though that sort of information would never be disclosed publicly.
Lady Melissa looked in the mirror, as she decided that it wouldn't hurt for her to go and sleep for a bit, she had gone through hell and back today, it wouldn't hurt for her to go through a little bit more right? Because at least then, she'd get her beauty sleep and wouldn't have to hide her dark eye bags.
Turns out, by what Lady Melissa had meant a bit, she had ended up sleeping until the very next day, it was unexpected for her to say the least.
It was the first time Lady Melissa had been able to sleep for so long, without dreaming of the brunette-haired woman a single bit.
No, this time Lady Melissa's dream was peaceful, she didn't dream of anything, as everything was simply pitch black to her.
Lady Melissa didn't even realize that she had slept for twelve hours until she saw the clock at the wall, letting out a gasp.
That would explain why she felt so refreshed, after all, she hadn't slept for a number of days, not wanting to dream about the brunette-haired woman at all.
Lady Melissa quickly took a shower as she changed her clothes, she was going to eat breakfast, and then go to Duchess Ella's estate to see her.
"You're finally awake."
Lady Melissa's parents greeted her as they peacefully ate in the dining room.
"Don't the both of you have work?"
Lady Melissa curiously asked, wondering just how they had such free time in their hands.
"We had finished all of the work due today and yesterday after stress-working if that's a thing, so we're free for the day. We thought it'd be best for us to just stay at home and to process everything that happened."
The Duke said, explaining to Lady Melissa as he continued to read his newspaper.
Lady Melissa let out a yawn as she nodded her head.
"You just woke up?"
The Duchess curiously asked.
"Yeah."
Lady Melissa casually replied as she took a seat in the dining room, eating some pasta whilst doing so.
"I'll be going to Duchess Ella's estate later to see her, since she was undergoing surgery yesterday the surgeons didn't allow me to go and see her."
Lady Melissa said as she explained to her parents why she was going to see Duchess Ella later.
"Alright, stay safe, oh and tell Duchess Ella that we're wishing her a speedy recovery."
The Duchess said as she patted Lady Melissa's head, feeling proud of how caring and respectful her daughter was of others.
