I'm available anywhere on Thursday and Friday, unfortunately, I'm unavailable on Saturday and Sunday."
Duke Gaston said as Lady Melissa slowly nodded her head, closely observing him whilst he spoke.
"All right then, I'll give you the time and place where we meet a day or two before the meeting. Now, is there anything else you would like to ask, or tell me, Duke Gaston? If not then you can kindly see yourself out."
Lady Melissa harshly said as Duke Gaston slowly nodded his head-secretly hoping that there was some other reason he could use so he could spend at least a bit more time with her.
"I guess that's all I have to say, it was a pleasure seeing you, though before I leave, may I know where you are going?"
Duke Gaston politely asked, as Lady Melissa let out a sigh, thinking whether she should tell him or not before she decided that it wouldn't hurt, besides it wasn't as if he'd follow her, she was sure that he was busy as well, after all, he was a Duke.
And although she had a higher status than him- his position was higher than her, and she was sure that he had more responsibilities than her, she reminded herself that he was a Duke, whilst she was merely a Lady.
"If you must know, I'm planning to go to a charity."
Lady Melissa said as she saw Duke Gaston raise his eyebrows before she continued her sentence not wanting to confuse Duke Gaston or so with where she was going, or what she was going to be doing in a charity.
Although it was common for many nobles to go to numerous charities and donate a sizable amount, Duke Gaston had never thought that Lady Melissa was one of those nobles- and if she was, he was going to be more than disappointed- not in her, but in himself for letting himself catch feelings for her.
That was if he would ever come to the realization that he had feelings for her.
"What kind of charity, if I may know?"
This time it was Duke Gaston's turn to raise his eyebrows as he looked at Lady Melissa.
Lady Melissa considered for a moment whether she should tell Duke Gaston the charity she was going to and what kind of charity it was, she didn't know why he was so nosy anyways.
"A charity for orphans."
Lady Melissa bluntly stated as Duke Gaston's eyes widened a bit, so just as he assumed, she was going to donate to a charity so she'd give a good impression to the other nobles, he didn't know why but he was more than disappointed when he found out.
"Can I join?"
Duke Gaston asked all of a sudden, deep down he hoped that inside she was actually donating because she had actually wanted to help out the children, and he thought that maybe if he was with her, he'd be able to see whether she truly cared for them or not.
Lady Melissa froze for a second, did Duke Gaston really just say what she had thought he said? As much as she would love to have him accompanying her, there was no doubt that news outlets were going to make rumours of a scandal between them.
Lady Melissa knew how- desperate news outlets could be, even when they had events that just happened a few days ago that would last for weeks in the newspapers, they were always going to find out and make rumours about something that wasn't a scandal.
Lady Melissa saw Duke Gaston's hopeful look, and she would say she felt bad, but she didn't, she didn't owe him anything and certainly not a trip to the charity, along with her.
"Unfortunately, you can't accompany me, now if there's nothing else, please leave, I need to continue getting ready to go to the orphanage."
Lady Melissa sternly said as Duke Gaston was left speechless, though based on both the tone of her voice and the expression on her face, that was more than enough for Duke Gaston to leave.
He knew when he was unwelcomed, and he knew best not to push it, especially considering the fact that he was the main general that led many troops to wad multiple times, and there was never a war lost when he was the general leading it.
Duke Gaston eventually left Lady Melissa's room as she closed the window, feeling a pair of eyes on her, which she had no doubt was Duke Gaston's. Lady Melissa knew that Duke Gaston was probably going to tail her.
She didn't mind though, as long as nobody would catch him, and she knew that nobody would, since this was the main general of the royal palace's troops that she was talking about.
The only one that even came close to his skills, individually, was Duke Mason, and she knew that the man wouldn't be tailing her, heck she hadn't even seen him ever since the hunting event and everything the two of them went through together.
Speaking of Duke Mason, apparently, he was also available on Thursday and Saturday, which was great since Lady Melissa just needed to choose a time for Thursday, she'll probably choose one later.
All she needed to do was find out a way to communicate to Duke Alphonso, and she had already more than several ideas in her head already on how to communicate with him, though she'd be putting each one of them to the test later.
After the orphanage event was sorted out. Lady Melissa looked in the mirror, letting out a smile.
Lady Melissa heard a knock on the door, as she allowed whoever it was to come in, though it was most likely Sophia, or at least she assumed it was, or perhaps whoever it was for the next shift.
"Lady Melissa, who was that?"
Nathan asked Lady Melissa as he entered her room, she had asked him to take some tea for her earlier, chamomile tea to be specific, to soothe her nerves.
Lady Melissa had been too focused on Duke Gaston that she had completely forgotten Nathan and the fact that he was supposed to be guarding her and by her side.
