As Lady Melissa was riding the carriage, the carriage suddenly came to a halt, Lady Melissa looked out from the window, confused as to why the carriage had come to a halt.
She was greeted by multiple soldiers, as Lady Melissa realized that they were near the hunting event- or at least the venue of the hunting event where the King's assasination attempt had happened.
A soldier greeted Lady Melissa, saying that there was an inspection, and although he didn't explain further, Lady Melissa knew that it was probably because of the assasination attempt that had happened a few days ago.
Out of the corner of Lady Melissa's eye, she had spotted someone, it was none other than Duke Alphonso who was instructing some of the other soldiers as they nodded their heads, listening intently to whatever he was saying.
Lady Melissa stared at Duke Alphonso, so intensely that she had ended up catching his attention, and since he had gone to multiple carriages himself, just to make sure that everything was alright, it wouldn't be that suspicious if he approached hers.
Duke Alphonso made his way to Lady Melissa, who was standing outside of the carriage as the soldiers were currently doing an inspection- going through every inch of the carriage, just to make sure that there was nothing dangerous or so, or perhaps some evidence regarding the King's assasination attempt.
"Good Afternoon Lady Melissa, what brings you here?"
Duke Alphonso said as he bowed his head, before he made eye contact with her, though Lady Melissa soon broke the eye contact as she stared at her carriage, the soldiers were taking their time.
"Good Afternoon to you too Duke Alphonso, I was heading home, and it seems as if my driver had taken this route, he must've forgotten the incidents that had happened the past few days."
Lady Melissa calmly said, as Duke Alphonso nodded his head, understanding Lady Melissa, he had doubted she was the culprit of the whole incident, especially with the fact that she hsd helped take out the sniper, nonetheless though he kept his guard up.
Just because Lady Melissa didn't look like she couldn't commit the crime, he knew better than to erase her from his long list of suspects since there had been a number of times where the culprits of the assasination attempts were the people he didn't expect.
The moment Lady Melissa sensed that nobody was looking at her, she quickly took the opportunity to whisper in Duke Alphonso's ear.
"Tomorrow, 3 pm, Hunter's lake."
Lady Melissa said to Duke Alphonso as he nodded his head, as she quickly pulled back before anyone could even spot what the two of them were doing, and their positions.
Hunter's lake was the name of a lake that was owned by the Shayla estate, and it was also a forest, Lady Melissa had decided for them to meet there since it wasn't that far from the Shayla estate, plus, she'd have a private place to talk to them.
Lady Melissa would stil of course, be worried about the employees, but she'd be sure to give them a warning beforehand, just in case any of them dared to even do something to her.
Lady Melissa was going to ask Justin to make a file on each of the employees that individually worked in Hunter's Lake, and what she could threaten each of them with in case they decided to run their mouths.
Unfortunately, since Justin wasn't currently here with her right now, she'd ask him later on when she'd finally reach back home to the Shayla estate, after the inspection would finally be finished.
"What have you found from the investigation?"
Lady Melissa curiously asked, as Duke Alphonso didn't reply for a few seconds, thinking whether he should tell her for a split second before his head quickly told him not to, he couldn't let her guard down- even with her.
"Unfortunately, that information is confidential, and it cannot be told to the public."
Duke Alphonso said, sending Lady Melissa an apologetic smile though he wasn't sorry at all.
"Oh I see."
Lady Melissa calmly replied as she impatiently waited for the soldiers to finally finish their inspection- it had been fifteen minutes ever since they inspected her carriage.
Lady Melissa was sure that they were probably using some magic to check if there was any evidence that was hidden to the naked eye.
Lady Melissa, even though there were some things that weren't related to her, she had hidden a few things in her carriage using magic.
She wasn't worried though, since the moment the carriage had come to a halt, she had acted quickly and taken the things.
Lady Melissa had almost made sure to make the traces of magic in her carriage disappear before she got down.
"You can go now, thank you for your cooperation and apologies for the inconvenience caused by this."
The soldier said as Lady Melissa nodded her head, and went in the carriage leaving Duke Alphonso and his soldier in the dust now.
Lady Melissa had no doubt that they were probably going to inspect her house- and all the other guest's houses just in case there was any evidence.
Perhaps it would be somewhere this week, but Lady Melissa knew that she could always imply that the royal family didn't trust the Shayla family if they had asked to search their house.
She decided that if it was needed- she'd do exactly that, besides the royal family had crossed the line by even inspecting her carriage.
Could they not trust one of the founding families? It was offensive- and it was an insult, especially to the Shayla family, she decided that she'd talk to her father later on to discuss this.
She knew that the Duke would agree with her, besides the Shayla estate had been loyal to the royal family for so many years- it wasn't as if they would turn their backs now, at least not yet.
