Lady Melissa was soon interrupted by her thoughts as she heard a knock on the door multiple times, raising her eyebrow, the employees knew better than to knock multiple times- and Lady Melissa didn't like it, meaning that whoever was knocking was probably in a hurry or wasn't an employee of hers.
"Come in."
Lady Melissa said, as she closely watched the door open, making sure that there wasn't an intruder as she continued to keep her guard up not like it wasn't already the entire time.
"Good Afternoon Lady Melissa, I apologize for knocking on your door multiple times, but there is an important matter I must inform you of."
Derreck said as Lady Melissa raised her eyebrows once again, wondering what was so important that Derreck had to ignore one of her rules.
"The King has sent you a letter."
Derreck said, as Lady Melissa could see Nathan's eyes slowly widening, as Lady Melissa let out a smirk, they had finally answered her.
"Bring it here."
Lady Melissa said, ordering to Derreck as he nodded his head- following her orders as he slowly brought the envelope, with the royal palace's seal on it to Lady Melissa.
"If that's all, you can go and excuse yourself."
Lady Melissa said as Derreck nodded his head, bowing down to Lady Melissa before he left her room, sparing her one last glance.
He was more than proud of the woman that Lady Melissa had become- she was a timid and shy girl before, but now she knew how to stand up for herself- and the King had even sent a letter back to her, there were only a very little number of people that the King would send letters to- and Lady Melissa was the first-ever woman to be sent a letter by the King.
Lady Melissa could see Nathan's expecting and curious glances at her and the letter from the King, though she hadn't opened it yet, as she was still savouring the moment.
The King had finally replied to her, she hadn't expected it, but of course, she was more than delighted to receive an answer from the King.
Lady Melissa momentarily glanced at Nathan, as he averted his gaze from her, pretending that he hadn't seen anything and that he wasn't curious about the letter and whatever it contained.
Lady Melissa let out a sigh before she slowly opened the letter, she already knew what it contained anyways- and she wasn't that excited from receiving a letter from the King.
Since, frankly, he was a piece of garbage, just like everyone else- thought he was worse than everyone else in a way.
Lady Melissa carefully took out the piece of paper- not wanting to rip it.
There was no sort of greeting or anything from the King- or more specifically the person who wrote it, though it was a given, since almost everyone who had high ranking positions in the royal palace was rude and ignorant especially to anyone else.
The letter was straight to the point- not even greeting her- though she wasn't offended, or at least not THAT offended.
Lady Melissa quickly skimmed through the letter, as it gave them time and day for her audience with the King, as she saw the date- her eyes widening.
Today? Lady Melissa let out a sigh- she had to cancel the plans, if she requested an audience from the King, and was granted one, and she hadn't even come to the royal palace, there was no doubt she'd receive serious backlash for this.
Lady Melissa already knew she was going to get gossip for being the first woman to receive a letter from the King, they were probably going to say about how she was his secret lover, which Lady Melissa even resented the idea of being his secret lover- her type wasn't older men, and even if it was, she certainly wouldn't go for someone like the King.
He treated both his children and wife horribly, and Lady Melissa wouldn't ever want to be someone's lover when they were already married, she respected the Queen.
Even if she hadn't had many conversations with her- she respected the Queen for everything she had to put up with, especially if she divorced the King she would receive serious backlash from the public, and the King wasn't going to mind a single bit.
The King was ruthless- and merciless most of the time as well, he didn't care for anyone, anyone except himself.
Lady Melissa had no doubt that if needed he'd throw all of his children so he could live- but that was to be expected, he was one of the greediest and selfish people Lady Melissa had ever met, though the Crown Prince took the first place of being the greediest and selfish person she had ever met.
Lady Melissa took out a blank sheet of paper, and some ink as well as a feather pen, starting to write a letter to respond to the King.
Her meeting with him was going to be at 5 P.M. and Lady Melissa knew that her maids were going to take all the time before 5 P.M. to prepare her and make her look more beautiful than she somehow already was.
Lady Melissa would prefer not wearing any sort of make-up, knowing that there'd be more people to believe the rumours that she was the King's secret lover if she did so.
Lady Melissa finished writing the letter- which was a response to the King's letter, as she called for Derreck who quickly followed Lady Melissa's orders, leaving the Shayla estate momentarily to send the letter to the royal palace.
Now, if it was a normal case, Lady Melissa would get Sophia or one of her bodyguards to deliver the letter for her- but this was the royal palace, more specifically the King who had even written the letter- or someone working for the royal family, so she gave Derreck, the head butler, the letter to deliver to the royal palace.
