Chapter 251 - 251

Lady Melissa slowly entered the room, making sure to keep her head bowed down the entire time, spotting multiple guards in the room through the corner of her eye, as she made sure not to trip on the long red carpet that she was currently walking on.

Once Lady Melissa made sure that she wasn't too far from the King- nor too close from him, she slowly bowed down, getting on her knees as she made sure to still keep her head down, not wanting to be considered disrespectful by the King if she had kept it up.

"You may stand up."

The King said, as Lady Melissa stood up, her head still looking down though since she knew that it would be rude if her head was up before the King would even allow her to do so.

"You can raise your head."

The King said as Lady Melissa maintained her calm and stoic demeanour, slowly raising her head as she made sure not to make eye contact with the King- not wanting to offend him.

Lady Melissa had momentarily glanced at the King though, as he was dressed in all red, a throne he was sitting on, with the crown on his head, he was looking as horrible as ever, or perhaps even more horrible than usual today.

"Speak."

The King blankly said, it was obvious how bored he was with how little he was speaking, as Lady Melissa started speaking.

"Good Evening King Henry, I am Lady Melissa, daughter of the Duke and Duchess of the Shayla estate, and today I am here to talk to you regarding a matter of great importance."

Lady Melissa said, confident in her tone, knowing that the moment she even hesitated on a word or sentence in front of the King, he was going to take advantage of it.

She was filled in a room with only the King's subordinates- she was in a place filled with everyone who followed the King, and she knew better than to get on the King's bad side, which was why she was so careful of every little move she would make, knowing that it could be her last.

"Yes, I've heard, what is it about?"

The King said, as she could hear amusement laced in the King's tone, she had managed to get him hooked- or at least for the meantime, knowing that now that she had the King's curiosity, it was best if she made the most of it, considering that it could disappear from her at any given second, or minute right now.

"I've come to propose something to you."

Lady Melissa said as she could see the King's eyes flicker with amusement and curiosity- great he had taken the bait.

"Oh, and whatever could that be?"

The King asked, his tone filled with curiosity as Lady Melissa started to tell the King all about her proposal- one that would be mutually beneficial for him and her, though she'd have to go to the palace a lot more if the King did accept her proposal.

"All of the Shayla estate's mines in exchange for any three favours of your liking?"

The King asked as he touched his beard multiple times.

"What about the Shayla estate's mines is so appealing? The royal palace does not need any more diamonds."

The King said as Lady Melissa could sense that he would start to be bored as well- if she didn't quickly explain the benefits of having the Shayla estate's mines.

"The Shayla estate's mining area is surrounded with oil- and we're currently in an oil shortage, I'm sure you could make use of the oil."

Lady Melissa said, a smirk on her face as she spoke confidently, never waving her confidence away.

The King stayed silent for a few seconds- considering the option as Lady Melissa had a few seconds to think of her next words to say to the King to convince him.

Lady Melissa could see that the King was genuinely considering this option- since they were at an oil shortage.

"Hmmm.....What else can you offer? I'm sure that you've heard that we've conquered yet another country- one rich with oil and other resources among it."

The King said as he stared at Lady Melissa, her confidence never-fading a single moment he did so.

Lady Melissa already had some future knowledge about the country that they were going to conquer- it was currently where most of the troops were, and it was where their enemies, would bomb, with nukes.

It was going to be happening in a month or so, and all their resources from that country would be gone.

"I believe that it is best for you to not put all of your eggs in one basket, my King, we do not know anything about the foreseeable future."

Lady Melissa said, knowing that she couldn't just plainly tell the King that the country they had just conquered was going to be bombed with nukes in the next month, knowing that it would certainly raise a number of questions from the King.

The King considered the option for a few seconds though, knowing that putting all his eggs in one basket was something he couldn't rely on, though he didn't want to be on the losing end she'd be able to make any three demands of her will to him.

"I'll consider it, if your three wishes become one instead."

The King said, as he spoke up, Lady Melissa wasn't going to accept his proposal- two wishes? The Shayla estate's mines were going to be very useful, especially in the future after the other country was bombed with nukes.

Lady Melissa wasn't going to back down from her offer- she wasn't going to let the Shayla estate's mines go to waste knowing how much it would be a great benefit to the royal palace in the future.

In addition to that, she'd be able to make any three demands from the King- and she had some leverage from him in case he didn't go by his promises.
