Chapter 253 - 253

"Good Evening Queen Historia, I am pleased to meet your acquaintance, I am Lady Melissa, daughter of the Duke and Duchess of the Shayla estate."

Lady Melisa said, bowing her head down as she greeted the Queen, making sure not to look up- not wanting to be considered disrespectful or rude by the Queen.

"You may raise your head up."

The Queen said as Lady Melissa did exactly that, whilst they simply stood in silence for the next few minutes or so- as the Queen stared at her face for what seemed like hours to her- not that Lady Melissa minded that much though.

"Sit, I have a lot to talk to you about."

The Queen said as Lady Melissa made her way to sit in front of the Queen, wondering whatever the reason was for the Queen to call upon her.

"I've heard a few rumours about you, and I wanted to see you for myself."

The Queen said as Lady Melissa wondered which one of the rumours that the Queen had heard about her.

"Don't worry, it's nothing bad, I just came to invite you to find out about something on my own, and out of curiosity, since you've been very famous these past few weeks."

The Queen said as she emphasized the word these.

Lady Melissa wouldn't ever admit it out loud, but the Queen was intimidating- even though she hadn't even made any sort of eye contact with the Queen, she could feel the intensity of her stares and gazes, almost as if they were burning a hole through her face.

"I hope that they're good rumours."

Lady Melissa said, finally speaking up as she hoped her words made the room a little lighter- and it did as the Queen let out a hearty laugh, Lady Melissa doing the same a little after, as she stopped herself from letting out a sigh of relief.

"I guess you'll just have to find out then?"

The Queen said, her tone filled with amusement- a mischievous glint hidden in her eyes.

Hours soon passed- as Lady Melissa and the Queen had managed to talk about a numerous number of topics- and even on the Crown Prince, and she didn't sense any sort of resentment or jealousy the Queen had for any of the concubines.

Lady Melissa found it amazing that the Queen was so responsible and everything that she had expected of an amazing leader, though she hadn't expected that amazing leader to be the Queen.

People had rarely talked about the Queen, most of the spotlight was usually on either the Crown Prince or the King, and with what had happened the past few days- it was definitely on the Crown Prince, at least for the time being.

"I'll invite you to have a chat with me some other day, unfortunately, though I have some things that need to be finished now, it was a pleasure to talk to you."

The Queen said as she glanced at the clock on the wall before putting on a smile on her face to Lady Melissa.

"It was a pleasure to talk to you as well my Queen, I'll certainly take you up on your offer."

Lady Melissa said, a kind smile on her face as she bowed her head down before leaving the room soon after.

Lady Melissa had gotten much more comfortable with the Queen after an hour or two- she was more at ease around her. Though of course, she made sure to keep her guard up, it was practically second nature to her.

The Queen's eyes were filled with kindness, while the King's were filled with greed, as Lady Melissa wondered how someone like the Queen married someone like the King.... though it was probably an arranged marriage after all the Queen was perfect- or at least she looked to be perfect.

The guard guided Lady Melissa to the room that her parents were in as she noticed Justin and Sophia outside, both of them flashing a small smile to her- Lady Melissa was a little surprised at Justin flashing a small smile at her, but nonetheless she returned the smile.

"Are my parents inside?"

Lady Melissa asked, even though the guard earlier had confirmed that, she just wanted to double check and not stumble upon a random room.

"Oh actually they've already left hours ago, they were here earlier but they've already left."

Sophia said, flashing an empathetic smile to Lady Melissa, feeling bad for her master.

"Let's go home then." Lady Melissa said, still maintaining her smile if there was something she hated was people pitying her- she didn't want their pity- at least most of the time unless she could use their pity to her advantage and benefit from it, but other than that, she absolutely despised being pitied- it felt as if she was being looked down upon as if they were better than her- as if she needed to be pitied for when in reality she didn't need to be.

Lady Melissa made her way to the carriage, the door being held by one of the maids while the other numerous maids and servants bowed their heads down, getting Lady Melissa a safe trip back home.

Lady Melissa was quite impressed with the fact that the maids and servants had greeted her every single time she had entered and left- since she had expected them to be so busy, but then again she was someone important, and it was only right for them to act this way to her.

She didn't get this kind of special treatment in her previous life though, instead, when maids saw her they would snicker- all kinds of maids from the maids from her own estate to even the royal palace's maids, she wasn't even respected by most of the peasants- it was a miserable life she had in her previous life.

Lady Melissa was just grateful that she was given another chance to start anew, and this time she'd be in charge of her own fate, and she'd make sure that she'd be the one to end up with a happy ending this time.
