Lady Melissa soon exited the bathroom, a dull look in her eyes as she was about to scold Nathan, though she didn't see him in her view anymore, yet the next second he was in front of her.
Lady Melissa's eyes widened- what was happening? Was she just hallucinating or something, because there was no way that Nathan was that skilled, especially in hiding his presence, though then again she didn't fully doubt it.
Lady Melissa decided that for the meantime though, she'd brush it off, deciding that she'd think about the incident later on, as she yawned, stretching out her hands, ever since yesterday, for some reason she had been acting more….forgetful and such.
Lady Melissa had even unconsciously let her guard down multiple times for some reason, though she couldn't shake off the feeling that someone was watching her, though she had already used her magic to check if someone was, as well as ask her bodyguards to do a little check-in the Shayla estate.
However, both her bodyguards and she came up empty- there was nothing, no one who was spying on her, or even any traces of magic, perhaps she felt this because of the fact that she had to sneak into her parent's room to get the deed.
Lady Melissa's schedule had been a mess, ever since the King had actually accepted her request to have a private audience with him, though it wasn't like she was complaining, she had already received a portion of the money from the King, though she hadn't told anyone yet.
The money was given in the form of a cheque, instead of the usual coins because that would obviously be too heavy for Lady Melissa.
Lady Melissa had kept the check somewhere safe with her, though she hadn't gone to the bank to get the money, she'd do that later on.
This was great news for her since she wouldn't have to report to her parents what she spent her monthly allowance from them on.
Lady Melissa found it annoying, how even though her parents didn't care for her that they would try to control every little aspect of her life, though she was ignoring it in the meantime.
Though Lady Melissa was sure that she was going to do something...drastic in the future to change that, though for now, she was just going to bear with it.
Lady Melissa let out a sigh, as she got down, ready to start off her day with a morning jog or so around the Shayla estate.
It was certainly 'unwomanly' for her to do so, or at least society would think so, but Lady Melissa didn't care, her parents had already scolded her multiple times for doing so but she didn't see the problem.
What was so wrong with jogging? It was weird to her how the simplest of actions could be judged- even when it had no sort of correlation between gender.
Lady Melissa got back after her morning run, as she ate her breakfast, which consisted of a salad as well as some English Breakfast tea.
She was greeted with...of course no one, which was something she had already gotten used to by now.
Her parents would only try and approach her when they needed her for help, not because they genuinely wanted to spend time with her.
Lady Melissa ate her salad in silence, dully staring at it as her eyes were filled with dullness.
Perhaps she had just gotten so tired and burned out with everything that was happening, as she needed something to spice things out.
Even though she did manage to get a contract with the King, it had only lasted her amusement for a few days, as the amusement soon disappeared, leaving Lady Melissa in the dust with nothing.
Lady Melissa soon got back into her room, as she entered the room, someone already waiting for her, at least she could sense their presence.
Lady Melissa signalled for Nathan to stand back, and although he was hesitant, sensing the person's presence as well, he nodded his head and agreed to Lady Melissa's words.
Lady Melissa entered her room, her eyes that were filled with boredom were now filled with interest, as well as amusement, interested in whoever it was.
Lady Melissa was soon trapped between the door, as the person's hands were trapping her, the space between the two of them being almost nonexistent, as Lady Melissa looked up, staring at the person who was in front of her, which was none other than Duke Alphonso.
His piercing gaze gave Lady Melissa a smile, as she laughed a little, Duke Alphonso wasn't the best at acting dominating, though admittedly, her heart beated a little too quickly with the both of them being this close from each other.
"Stop laughing."
Duke Alphonso said, as he let out a little blush, his cheeks flushed, as his ears turned red, an action that didn't go unnoticed by Lady Melissa as the next seconds after she soon teased him about it.
After Lady Melissa was done teasing him about it though, the atmosphere in her room suddenly turned serious, as did Lady Melissa.
"Why did you make a contract with the King?"
Duke Alphonso asked as Lady Melissa answered him, her eyes never leaving his.
"Now that's something I can't tell you."
Lady Melissa said, as she leaned in closer to Duke Alphonso, their noses almost touching, as she flicked his forehead, receiving a surprised look from him.
Although Duke Alphonso was known for acting and responding to things quickly- whenever he was with Lady Melissa, it was as if his thoughts would just suddenly...disappear, sometimes he would even stop thinking and stutter over his words, even acting shy- which he never did unless it was for an act for the public.
Whenever he was with her, his heart would beat just a little faster, and sometimes it would even skip a beat or two.
