Lady Melissa wasn't that shocked that Victoria had actually stabbed her- she wasn't shocked with a lot of things anymore with how many things she hadn't expected to happen to just...happen in these past few days.
Though it'd be a complete lie if Lady Melissa said that she hadn't winced at the pain.
Unlike in the nightmares that Lady Melissa would typically have, dying numerous times by Lady Camilia, this was different, this was reality, meaning that she had no sort of 'second chance' to redeem herself.
Lady Melissa was a little worried as well- though she didn't show it at all, maintaining a calm and stoic composure, even though she had winced a bit when her wrist had gotten stabbed by Victoria's knife, or Lady Camilia's.
Luckily though, Victoria hadn't noticed Lady Melissa had flinched, too busy playing with the knife in her hands for her to care about it.
Lady Melissa didn't have the custom made ring that would link her to all her bodyguards with her, and neither did she have the custom made bracelet either, as it had seemed like it had been removed off of her hands, since it was nowhere to be found.
"You know, I thought that we could be best friends, but all you do is keep disappointing me."
Victoria said, a smile on her face for the first part before it was suddenly changed to a dejected and depressed expression in the second part of the sentence.
"Tch, tch, tch I can't believe that you're so stupid, seriously."
Victoria said, as Lady Melissa stayed in silence, still not uttering a word to the woman.
"It's time to make you pay."
Victoria said, as she stabbed Lady Melissa in her stomach this time- as the other woman winced at the pain, she was used to receiving all kinds of pain in her nightmares- but it hurt more in reality.
Maybe it was also because she realized that she wouldn't have a second chance at life if she did so- and she wouldn't be able to make the vows to herself come true- killing the Crown Prince that was.
This time, it was obvious that Victoria had seen how Lady Melissa winced at the knife- since she had let out a cough when doing so-shocked at the pain, though the girl didn't let out a single shriek.
Lady Melissa wasn't going to let Victoria get what she wanted, after all, she knew- more than anyone that Victoria wanted her to scream- to cry to make some sort of reaction, and she had already given a part of it by wincing.
"You'll finally know how I felt when you did this to me, you're the one who made me do this."
Victoria said as she raised the knife upwards, ready to stab Lady Melissa in her neck this time and for her to bleed to death.
Lady Melissa closed her eyes- as she braced for the impact to come, however, nothing happened, as she opened her eyes confused, on how nothing was happening.
There he was- her knight in shining armor, the one who was going to save her from this, it was none other than Duke Gaston standing in front of her, shielding her using his sword in his hand from Victoria's attacks.
Lady Melissa's eyes widened- she hadn't expected him, of all people, to be the one to come here and save her- perhaps she should make up to Duke Gaston after this, considering what he had gone through.
Though she'd decide on it later on, since this wasn't exactly the best timing for her to decide on such things, she couldn't bear to look away from the scene in front of her, the general fighting against Victoria, using a sword no less.
Lady Melissa already knew that Duke Gaston was going to win- after all, he was the main general of the kingdom's army troops for a reason, and she was sure that he could beat the woman in front of him.
Or at least that was what she had thought- once again, her assumptions had proven to be false, as Victoria had actually managed to stab Duke Gaston in his hand, her face smiling whilst she did so.
"No matter who comes here, they'll always lose to me, at the end of the day you will always be inferior to me."
Victoria said, using a condescending tone, as she used her knife, and somehow- or for some reason, Duke Gaston couldn't move at all, he was stuck in place- almost as if he was frozen there.
Victoria made eye contact with Lady Melissa, the other woman a little nervous on what was to happen- how many tricks did Victoria and Lady Camilia had up their sleeve? Well, however many they had was enough to make her nervous.
Lady Melissa wasn't the most sympathetic person, often finding when things happen to be a 'part of life', but it'd be a complete lie if she said she wouldn't feel an ounce of guilt if Duke Gaston died, right here, right now, in front of her eyes.
It was as if Lady Melissa was on a constant streak of bad luck, considering all of the bad incidents that had happened to her in the past few days, and on top of that, this had happened.
"I'd say it was nice knowing you but that'd be a lie, see you~"
Victoria said, as Lady Melissa's eyes widened- she wouldn't bear to see the sight in front of her, she wouldn't be able to handle seeing Duke Gaston's body.
However, before Victoria could even stab Duke Gaston's neck, a flash of light appeared, blinding everyone in the room, including Victoria.
Next thing the woman knew was that Lady Melissa was in front of her- the knife no longer in her hands, but instead, in the hands of the woman in front of her, who was staring her down as if she was some sort of prey to be eaten.
