Lady Melissa could see the shock on Victoria's face, wishing that she only had some sort of device to capture the image of it, though the expression was long gone, as Victoria hid her shock.
"Well, well, well, how the tables have turned."
Lady Melissa said, as she approached Victoria, the woman was in front of her, the knife in her hand as she got closer and closer to Victoria with every single step she took, the latter woman was still in a little bit of a shock.
Duke Gaston simply watched from the sidelines- deciding that, this time, it was better for him to stay silent and watch the two of them rather than interfere- besides, he could see from Lady Melissa's eyes that she was…quite enraged.
Although she might've not seemed enraged, based on how confident she currently looked, Duke Gaston knew that she was faking it- at least to a certain extent, he had observed much about the woman.
Duke Gaston wasn't the type of person to observe people much, at least not regular people- but something about Lady Melissa, whatever it was, would keep drawing him- and unconsciously he would start observing her more and more.
He would even notice the littlest details she would do, how she would let out a sigh every time she was stressed out, and how she would tuck her hair behind her ear whenever she was spacing out.
However, seeing how she was in front of him- how much he was truly interested in her, and how much his heart would beat oh so quickly whenever he saw her- he had come to the realization, one that it took ages for him to come to.
Duke Gaston's eyes widened, partially because Lady Melissa had managed to use Victoria's knife against her and press it up to her throat, but also because he had finally realized why he had been acting this way.
And his heart was beating faster than ever as he came to this realization, but also because of how attractive Lady Melissa looked, even as she threatened to kill the other woman with a knife in her hand.
Maybe it was because Duke Gaston wasn't the most 'stable' man when it came to terms of mental health and such, considering that he had seen much blood being shed in wars- and countless soldiers of his being killed.
He wasn't a big fan of bloodshed- but this was just attracted to him, as he blushed, imagining all kinds of things about Lady Melissa, things that would certainly ruin his reputation if said aloud.
Meanwhile, Lady Melissa hadn't focused on Duke Gaston at all, she knew that he had her eyes on her- after all, it was pretty obvious, and he wasn't even trying to hide it at all, her focus was mainly on the woman in front of her.
Lady Melissa had made up her decision from hours ago, whether to kill the woman or not, she knew that Victoria had some sort of involvement in this, her gut had told her that she was still uneasy.
She felt uneasy, even when Justin had taken care of it, or at least he was supposed to, but then again, she couldn't say much since Lady Camilia had practically brought back Victoria from the dead, so it wasn't really Justin's fault either.
"Even if you'll kill me, at the end of the day you'll never be satisfied with what you have, the both of us know that. I'm more than happy to die in your arm-"
Victoria said, before Lady Melissa cut her off, using the knife in her hands to stab Victoria's neck, stopping the other woman from speaking anymore, as her eyes slowly began to close, her breath getting slower and slower by every second that passed before eventually, the woman stopped breathing.
"She's dead?"
Duke Gaston asked, his voice filled with confusion since he wasn't exactly a hundred per cent sure whether the woman in front of Lady Melissa was dead since he couldn't really tell from his position.
"It appears so."
Lady Melissa said, as she took off her gloves that were stained with blood now, luckily, her dress hadn't gotten any of it, since blood on a dress, or on anything would cause a few questions for them and certainly raise a few eyebrows.
Duke Gaston stayed silent, observing Lady Melissa's actions, she didn't seem to feel sorry for any of her actions, but it didn't disgust him, as much as he himself hated bloodshed- perhaps there were some exceptions.
Though the one and only exception he would make was for Lady Melissa- whether he realized it or not, she was different to him, she wasn't like anyone else he had ever met- she was something different.
"Are you alright?"
Lady Melissa asked, her stoic face from earlier changing to a concerned one- even if she didn't realize it herself, as Duke Gaston was seemingly mesmerized by her- his heart beating faster and faster.
Lady Melissa noticed that Duke Gaston was spacing out, as she used her hands to touch Duke Gaaton's face, waiting for a reaction- and a reaction did come, Duke Gaston was blushing- even though all Lady Melissa was doing was using her hand to touch his face.
Lady Melissa hadn't noticed this though, too busy checking on whether DUke Gaston was alright or not, feeling a tad bit guilty that the reason he was even here right now was because of her.
She hadn't wanted to show Duke Gaston this side of her, but then again it was inevitable, considering that the both of them had a whole contract on murdering the Crown Prince and such.
Lady Melissa closely inspected Duke Gaston's body, before she came to the conclusion that the man was alright, and he had only gotten a few minor injuries and nothing too severe that would wound him for years or such, nothing too dangerous either that he needed to be rushed to a doctor to save him.
