Chapter 42：Pristine Moments

Sabbath day came on and they all decided to attend a church mass and like all other typical Filipinos, they bonded off to go till they returned home with all sorts of 'puto maya' and 'sikwate' takeout and indeed their family classification sounds unusual. It's difficult to imagine the three men as guardian angels, personal assistants, private guards nor husbands but for Karla, the great bonding would be just a transitory experience to her set of loyal and trusted friends. Though one of them will stick by her side, through God's time and favor.

" Let's all go for a beach picnic, isn't it a good idea today? I have an announcement when we reach there so while I'm not yet changing my mind, hope everyone's agreeing. Possible?" Seb was looking at them.

" Wow! that's great, I go for it." Karla nodded and smiled. Nomin and Godem later then confirmed to join. On the stale and stuffy couch at the receiving area, Seb arranged the food containers and some small matressess as she just bought some assorted viands from the restaurant in the neighborhood. On the other hand, Godem was still busy fixing the bathroom's doorknob.

" Ow, such a great job! Where did you learn this one, wow! the doorknob was finely installed, this must be difficult." Nomin curiously looked at the refinement of Godem's carpentry. Their noise made Seb and Karla drew inside the room and found the new doorknob that Godem had repaired.

" Amazing! how did you know that and how did you quickly restore the previous design, interesting. I'd like to learn that too. But anyway, since Godem had accomplished this one today, we're going to the beach now for a celebration, okay, let's go."

" Then Seb drove the car going to the beach point while they saw Carmen crossing the road that draw a sly and deadly attention.

" Hmm...I remember something fishy." Nomin smiled while looking at Seb on the mirror, teasingly smiling too.

" Shh...there you go bullying now. Stop that, it's hurting already." Godem pouted at Nomin.

Without their knowledge, Seb was listening to what Karla was thinking.

" What is he going to tell us, is he leaving? no not, it musn't be. Nomin won't allow that too, come on, don't leave us." Karla had this in her thought while staring to nothingness.

Seb was smiling while looking at her, beside him and emotionally liberating on his part. The feeling of being special seems one of the best assurance enslaved by security and care. That itself when someone thinks if you leave - where you will just announce that you finally award a new iPhone 6 to the great Godem. What a relief, I feel like a prince." He smiled while looking on the road ahead.

" Hmm..just drive well, we're almost there, I guess." Nomin interrupted.

When they reached the beach, everyone seem to be very excited and since it's almost lunch, so they just arranged the mattresses for them to use. It's windy all over and the refreshing feeling was truly delightful.

" Hi all, before we enjoy our lunch, I'd like to make the announcement. This is to inform everyone that...I will...turn over to Godem a piece of cellphone which he may use for this mission." Seb then handed to Godem his new phone and everyone applauded while Godem was truly all the way grateful.

" Well, thank you very much. I will use it well, thank you Seb, thank God."

" Now, you can easily contact the GP Cakes and Pastries for your orders too." Nomin said and they all laughed.

" We still have one box of cake here, we have best viands too and enough rice. So, we ask Godem to bless the food before us."

After the food had been blessed, they started to enjoy their lunch.

After their lunch, Godem sought Seb to teach him to assemble and activate the phone with it's sim.

" If I go back to the heavens, to whom shall I leave this?" Godem said.

Everyone were stuck and does not know how to answer the question. They were silent, immobile and their hearts were toppled over by reluctance. But Godem stood up and had their first groufie photo on his new phone and they all forced to smile.

" What were you thinking?" Nomin asked Karla while sitting so comfortably on a sandy ground.

" Just thinking about my husband."

" Hmm...you sound very emotional when it comes to people leaving you later. It will just give you a headache, come on, let's enjoy the day. Come...stand up, let's take a walk for a while."

" Sure, why not. Why you're so formal today? haha"

" I guess, we cannot stay long or grow old together."

" ...and why?" Karla stopped and looked at him.

" I had a hunch that I cannot get back to my body. it's just my feeling but it's better that I will not expect much. So...I have already started to accept that and I wanted you to prepare to whatever consequences that will come on our way. I wanted you to be happy without turning your head back on me, and do not be guilty. Starting today, I will free you away from some marital worries. Just follow the path God is leading us to, okay?" Nomin tearfully pressed her hand as she embraced him crying.

" You mean silly! Don't think about it, we've been fighting for this ever since, don't give up yet. Your body is just around and Seb is giving it back to you, one day soon. I tried to be closer with your body because you told me to, and now ...you're giving up...don't do it. It hurts me a lot." Karla cried from the top of her lungs.

" In a distant, Seb had heard everything. it was a condensed truth between what he felt and what her intention was. But whatever it would be, he is somewhat willing to be used by Nomin's purpose and for her delight, but it just made him lonely, as such, she was his only reality." His tears fell while smiling on them. In a while, Nomin went to him and tapped his shoulders.

" Have you heard us chatting. Hmm, I only made her prepare in advance and unchain all our hearts. That heart you have - is mine but was driven by your soul, within. I guess my role being her husband is almost over, the eight years of being her guardian, away, together and the happiest, it mean so much to our marriage. Banli told me last night that she was your wife in the past life, for three times, she was stolen from you, but for several times she goes back to life, your fate meets again and again and even without my body in you, she will still recognize you. I was beginning to realize that when we got married, she worked hard for it but my fears to my Mom was greater than being responsible over us. I was told by Banli on how you guarded and saved me by getting inside that body rather than the evil could take it away, because of what you did, my soul was redeemed by heavens, though, I did not know, that I have died - with peace and forgiveness and was blessed again. Staying in this immortal body is already a sign that I cannot be Karla's wedded husband, and I must accept that. Your body is her present and your soul was her past. Take her back.
