Chapter 187 - Li Ling Can't Use Developer Codes

Li Ling chuckled as he heard this, "You're right. You never expected something like this, did you?" 

Laura squinted at the man before finding the courage to speak up, "You were playing me, weren't you? You remember exactly what happened." 

Li Ling couldn't help but sneer in disgust, "To kill the heroes that try to protect you just because of something trivial like power... You disgust me, Laura."

Laura gritted her teeth but said nothing to that. 

"What do you mean?" Wang GuiYing suddenly asked in confusion as he saw the tense hostile atmosphere between the two. 

Li Ling said nothing as a response to him and Laura would also naturally not say anything that ruins her own name. 

Zather who was standing and looking at Captain Burn all this while took his gun and aimed it at Zhihao before looking over at Li Ling, "Captain Liv, we need you. You leave me no choice." 

Li Ling chuckled in amusement as he looked at the gun that was aimed at Zhihao, "So you're going to show me how you're the same type of person that we wasted our time trying to protect in the first war?"

Zather gritted his teeth and looked nervous but there was no doubt about it, he was ready to pull the trigger at any moment now. 

Wang GuiYing shook his head in annoyance. Nobody was giving him an answer. Nobody was speaking things he could understand and this frustrated him enough to finally stomp his feet on the ground as he exclaimed, "You guys keep wasting time here. Hulk and I are leaving!" 

He climbed on top of Zhou Xinyi's shoulder before tapping the man's head twice, "Come and fight when you have enough guts to put your life on the line." 

After having said this, all the XY Ribots followed Zhou Xinyi's command and went ahead with them to attack the approaching army. 

Zather's grip around the gun tightened as he looked at the Ribots that had gone forward to attack without any sense of hesitation or fear. 

Li Ling clicked his tongue as he looked at the man, "Do you have the guts to shoot that gun, little boy?" 

Zather gulped and for a split second, his grip around the gun loosened up. 

Laura who was standing beside him couldn't take it anymore and she immediately smacked his head as she scolded him, "Don't be reckless. If you kill him, Captain Liv will kill all of us." She looked over at Li Ling as she added, "Isn't that right, Captain Liv?" 

Li Ling chuckled lightly as he nodded, "At least, you know that." 

Zather gritted his teeth and the veins on his head seemed to be popping up as he finally put the gun down, "Do whatever you like." 

Laura smiled softly as she saw this, "Good decision. Don't be like me." 

The two immediately left Li Ling and Zhihao alone as they joined the battle that was yet to reach here. 

Li Ling sent forward all his Ribots as well and secretly used a developer code to command Zhihao's ribots. 

Now, there were only two people missing from the battle, however, since these two people were Zhihao and Li Ling, the effect of their absence could clearly be seen. 

The ribix were strong as it is, but the newly created ribots were much stronger. 

They were constructed according to the latest technology and hence, they couldn't be easily defeated. 

The outcome of the war instantly looked to be clear. 

They were soon going to lose this war, however, unlike Zhihao, Li Ling didn't care about that. 

At this moment, all he could care about was Zhihao who was slowly losing consciousness. 

He shook the man as he tried to calmly speak, "Mastermo, stay with me. Are you okay? Just hang on, okay?" 

He wondered if he should just stop this level and get Zhihao to safety but when he tried to do it, the screen started showing an error. 

Li Ling frowned as he saw this error, "What the hell...?"

He tried again and again, however, it was the same error showing up on his screen. 

He was confused and the more the error showed up, the more complicated Li Ling's expressions became. 

"I really shouldn't have trusted you, Alvi," He muttered under his breath and almost wanted to laugh at himself for having faith in his own creation. 

Alvi should never have been trusted.

"Code: 3102. Reset!" He tried to use a different command, however, even this new code was of no use. 

[Error: Code rejected.] 

Li Ling clicked his tongue in annoyance as he heard this. 

"Why?!" He cried out at the bot. 

[Error: Code rejected!] 

"Code: 3102. Reset. Password: A-Zhi." 

[Error: Password rejected!]

"Damn it... This can't be happening!" Li Ling clutched on tightly to Zhihao and gave up shouting codes at the bot who showed him the same rejection error again and again. 

"A-Zhi, stay with me," He muttered and a single tear fell down from his eyes, hitting Zhihao's cheek. 

Zhihao used up all his strength to smile brightly at the man as his weak voice questioned out, "Did I make you worry again?" 

Li Ling didn't know if he wanted to laugh or cry as he heard this. 

"I'm sorry, Gege," Zhihao added as he tried to lift his hand in order to wipe away the tears trailing down Li Ling's cheeks, "I keep making you worry about me." 

"You idiot!" Li Ling gritted out as he heard this, "How dare you say something like that?! I don't care if you make me worry, just be alright in the end!" 

Zhihao chuckled softly as he heard this, "If you're waiting for me at the end, there's no way I wouldn't make it." 

Li Ling almost wanted to smack Zhihao's head as he heard this, "You're an idiot." 

Zhihao smiled, "And if you're crying over this idiot, it makes you an idiot as well." 

Li Ling chuckled as he heard this, but the tears streaming down his face never stopped even for a second.

"Now go..." Zhihao softly pushed him away, "Go and satisfy the system. Go and fight instead of wasting time here. The sooner we finish this level, the sooner we can get out of here."

Li Ling immediately shook his head as he responded, "I'm not leaving you here alone." 

Zhihao pursed his lips and said nothing. Rather than him not having an answer to that, it looked more like he had no energy left inside him to open his mouth and give a response. 

"Where the hell is the staff?! This is a medical emergency, you knuckleheads!! Stop the game immediately and take him out!" Li Ling angrily shouted, but he got no response. 

The staff members that stood outside the room and looked at this whole scene through their screen couldn't help but bite off their fingernails in worry. 

It wasn't that they hadn't tried to stop it. They had tried, but just like the system wasn't listening to Li Ling, it wasn't listening to them as well. 

If the worst scenario were to play out, they could take out the headset with force and help Zhihao, however, the risk of doing something like this was great and without Li Ling's permission, they would dare not do anything like that. 

One of the staff members immediately connected directly to Li Ling's headset and informed him about this situation, "Sir, if we take it out by force, we would cause a shock to his brain and he might have a seizure. The system isn't listening to us. You just need to complete the game as soon as possible." 

When Li Ling heard this, he almost wanted to punch a wall. 

It was all his fault. 

He should have never brought Zhihao out here. 

"How the hell are we supposed to solve the game?!" Li Ling cried out, but there was no answer to his question and it wasn't like he was expecting an answer to it either. 

They needed to win this war and the way they win should manage to satisfy the system. For the Gamemaster, who already knew about this level, this sounded rather easy to do, however, Li Ling naturally knew that this was in no manner considered to be easy. 

If he already knew how to win this war in a way he satisfied the system, this level would have been easy, but this was the exact problem that he was facing. This level changed every single time. The requirements to complete the mission would change with every game and it was so spontaneous that even Li Ling couldn't know about it. 

"Sir, all we can do now is pray," the staff member spoke to him before disconnecting from his headset. 

Li Ling gritted his teeth but said nothing as he heard this. 

He was afraid that even praying wouldn't be getting them anywhere. 

What was he supposed to pray for? 

A hero? 

Someone who suddenly appears in a critical moment and destroys all the ribix and newly created Ribots that had been affected by the ribix virus? 

It would have been more shocking if someone like that really did appear.
