Chapter 188 - Li Ling's Dangerous And Useless Plan

Right at this moment, someone unexpected appeared on the scene.

Her broken leg made her limp as she rushed up to Li Ling and tapped his shoulder, "Captain Liv, what's going on in here?"

Li Ling snapped his head to look at the girl in shock, "You! Leyah?"

Leyah nodded as she confirmed that it really was her, "What happened to Captain Burn?"

Li Ling shook his head as he looked down at Zhihao who had closed his eyes and was breathing slowly, "He's not in a condition to be fighting."

Leyah pursed her lips as she heard this. She was silent for a minute as she glanced at Zhihao and then at Li Ling, "Understood."

"Huh?" Li Ling muttered as he wondered if there was something he had said that needed to be understood.

However, instead of explaining what she was talking about, Leyah looked at him and immediately apologized as she bowed her head down in guilt, "I'm extremely sorry for what happened to you both. It's not me who did it, but I stood aside and watched it all happen without uttering a single word.... That alone makes me one of the culprits as well."

Li Ling sighed as he asked, "What the hell is this about?"

"Just hear me out!" She snapped as she continued, "You were only trying to protect us. You two were the selfless heroes our world needed but your name got stained by the ugly thoughts of cowards who didn't deserve you."

"..." Li Ling had an indecipherable expression plastered on his face as he kept listening to the woman.

"You were wronged... You should've hated us... You should've craved for revenge and yet... Even after being betrayed, you still came back to help us in our time of need. We really do not deserve you." Leyah's voice quivered as if she were on the verge of crying her heart out, "And now again... Captain Burn is injured. I really look up to you both."

She suddenly lifted her head up and looked at Li Ling with unwavering determination, "Let me prove it to you. Let me help you this time... I might not be able to do much, but I hope to be of some help so just trust me this time. I know that I'm in no place to be asking you to trust me... But I still hope that you do."

"What are you planning to do?" Li Ling questioned with a poker face. The previous words filled with sincerity didn't even seem to affect him.

Leyah took a sharp breath in as she sniffed back her tears, "Just have faith in me."

"I don't," Li Ling gave a straightforward answer that could be considered rude, "But if you can help, go ahead and try. If you succeed, we'll forgive you, and if you don't... You can just continue asking for forgiveness."

She nodded her head enthusiastically as she responded, "That's it! That's all I want. My last wish on this earth is for you guys to forgive me."

Li Ling suddenly frowned as he heard this, "Excuse me, what?! What do you mean last breath?"

Before his question could get answered, the girl had already limped away as fast as possible.

For a single second there, when Li Ling looked at her determined eyes, he was forced to believe that she had a plan in mind but now that he looked at her moving back, he couldn't help but sigh as he realized how stupid it was of him to think something like that.

Her leg looked to be killing her just as it is.

A girl with a  broken leg... What could she do?

Sure, she could distract the ribix momentarily by acting as bait, however, this was probably the only thing she looked to be useful for.

Li Ling sighed as he no longer looked at the girl and instead, he turned back to pay attention to Zhihao who was completely unconscious.

"A-Zhi, can you hear me? I'll need you to hold on for a bit. Let me think of something," He whispered even though he knew that Zhihao could probably not hear him anymore.

For one last time, he tried to use a developer's code, and once again, he was shown the same rejection error.

"Damn it... You need another check-up, you damn bot." Li Ling cursed under his breath as his eyes glanced up to look at the ongoing war that didn't seem to progress well.

Their side was being thoroughly defeated by the newly created Ribots who all had red eyes that indicated them being affected by the ribix virus.

He was trying hard to come up with a plan but at this moment, the only thing he could come up with was suicide.

If every player in the game died, they would forcefully be thrown out of the game. Even if Li ling couldn't use his developer's codes to order the bot to reset the level or force stop it, he could still use this method.

However, there was another problem with this method.

It couldn't exactly be used.

Li Ling equipped his gun and aimed it Wang GuiYing.

He had no idea if he would manage to succeed in shooting the man or not, but he still decided to test it out on Wang GuiYing simply because this man was Wang GuiYing. He would surely not do anything even if he finds out that he had just become Li Ling's tester.

[Sorry! You can't shoot another player!]

Li Ling sighed as he heard this warning ring out as soon as he pulled the trigger.

"Damn it..." He cursed as he put his weapon away and simply tried to find another way out of here.

The gamemaster was perhaps the only person who could shoot another player without receiving this notification, however, right now, Li Ling wasn't playing with his Gamemaster's account.

He was playing with Devilmagiclover account and although this account had its own perks that normal players didn't have, it still didn't have this option available.

Li Ling was forced to have a headache under all this stress, however, even the headache wasn't enough to stop him.

Right at this moment, Li Ling suddenly heard Wang GuiYing cry out, "Where the hell did you pop up from?!"

When he looked over, he saw that it was just the man freaking out about Leyah who had appeared on the battlefield.

Leyah said something back to him but because of the distance between Li Ling and them, it was only natural that Li Ling couldn't hear what she had said but he certainly paid attention to Wang GuiYing's expressions and tried to understand the situation based on nothing more than that.

Wang GuiYing's face twisted in shock, confusion, and suspicion as he heard her.

For a whole minute, he did nothing more than look at her and at this moment, Laura suddenly walked over and punched Leyah's face, sending her stumbling backward.

Li Ling was confused as he saw this scene, however, there was no way for him to satisfy his confusion.

Laura lifted her feet and was about to kick the girl but before her foot could land on Leyah's stomach, Wang GuiYing took a hold of her leg and stopped it.

Laura looked to be shocked but it also seemed as if she was somehow afraid of Wang GuiYing and hence she took a sharp breath in as her face turned red with anger but she said nothing.

Wang GuiYing squinted at Leyah as he asked, "Are you sure?"

Leyah nodded her head and in the next minute, Wang GuiYing went over to Zhou Xinyi and Zather. He said something to them and their army soon retreated back to Li Ling and Zhihao's side.

"What's going on?!" Li Ling cried out in shock as he saw this, "Why are you coming back? What about the war?!"

Wang GuiYing shook his head as he pointed over at Leyah who was standing there all alone as she faced against an entire army of ribix and newly created ribots.

"Let's trust her," Wang GuiYing commented.

Laura who didn't look too happy suddenly clicked her tongue as she muttered, "Stupid..."

When Li Ling looked at the girl, he couldn't help but feel that he was about to see something extraordinary go down.

When faced against an entire army, Leyah somehow looked extremely beautiful.

All her attacks had a sense of elegance to them. There was something about the way she attacked. There was something about the way she used her whole body to fight. Even her broken leg wasn't able to stop her.

She looked entirely different from the girl who had first entered this battle and got her leg stuck in a ribix's mouth.

In just a single war, she had grown so much and it was clearly noticeable.

She fought with no fear and this could clearly be seen in the way she attacked. She had no guards up and she didn't even bother defending herself.

In Li Ling's eyes, this was just plain recklessness and he wondered if this was all that the girl had planned in order to save them.

However, at this exact moment, Li Ling also felt a shiver run down his spine as he felt that this wasn't it.

There was certainly something more.
