Amy was convinced Lair would object to them attending her boss's party, but there was no way she'd give up without trying. She immediately picked up her phone and called him.
She wasn't surprised when he refused to listen to her plea. Of course he'd say no, what was she thinking trying to convince Lair.
"Are you being serious? You know I came here to be with you and Jade, and you know tonight is also for us to cheer up Jade, so what are you saying? You're not coming?" Lair asked in an angry tone.
"I'm not saying that..."
"Then what are you implying?" Lair cut in angrily.
"All I'm saying is...maybe we could go to my boss's party instead. It's kind of huge for me. Please Lair, I'm begging you" She pleaded desperately. She couldn't miss out on such an opportunity. Being invited by Blake was a huge step towards getting close to him, and she didn't want to miss it.
"But I already promised him I'll be there" Lair reminded her.
"I know, but maybe we could drop by for few minutes and then leave for my boss's party?" She suggested hopefully. She was really hoping Lair would agree to her idea. She also didn't want him to dissappoint his friend. But she really needed him to make a compromise for her.
Lair was silent for a while, and that really made Amy anxious. She knew Lair was considering her idea. But the chances of him accepting her idea were slim. She muttered a short word of prayer in her heart.
"Alright fine" Lair finally agreed reluctantly.
"That's a yes?" Amy asked with uncertainty.
"I guess so. But you have to tell Jade. You know how much she hates parties and blaring noises" He told her. It was always a struggle trying to convince Jade to go out for a party, talk more of two.
"Leave that to me. She'd definitely say yes. Thanks bro" Amy said gleefully. She couldn't believe things were actually falling in place easily. She couldn't wait for Blake to approach and talk to her at his party later in the evening.
That's the thing about crushes, they ignite alot of feelings in you without even knowing it. Just like Amy couldn't help how she was feeling at the moment.
She's had a crush on Blake since the first day she started working there. She had made countless effort to not like him, but her heart always does something different. The more she tried to stay sane and stop herself from liking him, the more she did the exact opposite.
Everything about Blake made sense to her, and when she tried looking for something to make her stop, he'll do something that'll attract her more.
She hurriedly called Jade and told her the good news about Blake's invite, and Jade was truly happy for her. She agreed to go for both parties without hesitation.
Jade has always wanted Amy to start dating again, but Amy has always kicked against it.
Thankfully now, she finally likes someone and all she could pray for, was for things to work out well for her friend.
Amy had a happy smile spread across her face all day, as she impatiently waited for the close of work. Her mind was preoccupied trying to think of a suitable dress for the party.
As soon as work ended, she was the first person to clock out of work. She eager to know how Blake felt about her gift, but she was also hesitant about it.
Amy hurried home to get herself ready, but not before reminding Jade to get ready for the party too.
She dashed into her room after greeting her parents at the sitting room. They shot a puzzled look at each other when they noticed Amy's attitude.
"What's with your sister?" Mrs Walker asked Lair. She was surprised to see Amy run past them after muttering some words of greeting at them. That was quite unusual.
Amy was never one to be in a hurry, she took her time in everything she does, even when it came to her getting dressed or making up, she'd always take her time to look her best. So why the rush?
"We're going out for a party soon" Lair answered. But he wasn't sure that was the reason for Amy's hastiness. Truth be told he also felt Amy's attitude today was unusual. She was overly dressed for work today, and she had been persistent about going to her boss's party and now, she looked like she was in a hurry.
"Are you sure that's why she's in a hurry? Let me go check on her, it could be something else" Mrs Walker said worriedly as she got up from the sofa.
"Honey I'm sure she's fine. She might just be getting ready for their party. Let her be" Mr Walker said making his wife sigh as she sat back on her seat. She had a thing for always worrying over trivial issues.
"You should go check on her" Mr walker ordered Lair, who stood up immediately and headed for Amy's room upstairs.
Mr Walker knew that was the only way his wife would be relaxed. He had a hunch nothing was wrong with his daughter and it was just his wife being her angst-ridden self.
Lair was shocked when he walked into Amy's room and saw the whole place in a mess. Amy had emptied out her wardrobe and her clothes were strewn all over the floor.
"What's going on?" Lair asked narrowing his brows as his eyes darted around the room in confusion.
"Nothing" Amy replied nonchalantly as she kept bringing out each gown in her wardrobe. She held each dress over her body before tossing them to the ground. She sighed exasperatedly when she couldn't find something suitable to wear.
"What do you mean by nothing? Is this just for a party?" He asked raising his brows.
"Will you please go away and focus on something else" She said frustratedly. She really needed to find something suitable to wear for the party.
"Are you sure we're just going to your boss's party?" Lair asked making Amy glare at him. She was getting stressed over not seeing something nice to wear and here was Lair trying to stress her out even more.
"It's just my boss's party. Now go away!" She said with a frown while Lair raised his hands up, "Okay fine, I'm leaving. But that would look good on you. You should wear that" He said pointing his chin to the blue sapphire gown in Amy's hand. Amy looked at it and placed it over her body before smiling sheepishly.
Tonight she was going to look her best and keep Blake's eyes on her.. What a great night it would be, she squealed excitedly in her head.
