Chapter 42 - Blake!?

Lair's eyes popped out when he saw Amy walk down the stairs, beautifully dressed in the blue sapphire gown he had suggested for her. She had paired it with a silver stilletto and a silver clutch. He knew the dress would look good on her but he had no idea, it would look this perfect....she looked really beautiful right now.

The gown suited her perfectly and it accentuated her every curve. Her fine brown hair was packed in a messy bun at the back of her neck, with a few tendrils framing her face softly, which made her facial features more prominent. Her make up was mostly neutral unlike the one she had done for work this morning.

Right now, his sister looked beautiful, and he was certain that whatever party they were heading for wasn't just an ordinary party. Because she was more dressed up and far more pretty than she looked on her prom night.

"How do I look?" Amy asked with a nervous smile as she gripped her silver clutch tightly under Lair's scrutinizing gaze. She really wanted to look her best for Blake's party.

There was no way she'd look less than breath taking. Because all she wanted was to have Blake's eyes glued on her alone.

"Beautiful" Lair complimented her with a fond smile.

"Let's go" Lair said as he stretched out his hand to help her down the stairs, which made Amy look at her brother in surprise. She had almost forgotten how much of a gentleman he could be, when he chose to. Because most times he was just a devil who derived pleasure in tormenting her endlessly.It was nice having his less demonic self.

"Okay" Amy said taking his hand as he led them out of the house.

The drive to Jade's house was awkwardly silent between the siblings. Amy who was a chatterbox, couldn't bring herself to start or hold a conservation with Lair as she was extremely nervous right now. Lair decided to let her be after several attempts to start up a conversation with her. He could tell something was different about Amy tonight.

They continued their silent drive to Jade's house to pick her up, since that had been the intial arrangement.

Jade's jaws dropped when she saw Amy's gorgeous look. A smile crept on her face when she saw Amy dressed like she was going out on her first date. She was happy with the fact that Amy was making so much effort to get her man's attention. It was a good thing.

"Amy you look....gorgeous" Jade said with a genuine smile as she looked at her up and down with surprised eyes.

"You look beautiful too" Amy complimented her with a smile. Amy and Lair couldn't help but gaze at Jade who was donned in a little black dress that stopped an inch or two above her knees. It was a firm fitting, black off shoulder number that perfectly highlighted her body. She paired her gown with a red sandal heel and a red purse. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail, and her face was slightly madeup.

Lair was pleased with both their looks. He loved how his favorite women looked beautiful tonight...except his mother who was absent of course.

He was proud to have the company of 2 beautiful ladies tonight. He had a feeling he'd be the envy of every guy at both parties.

"You guys look stunning, I must say" Lair complimented them with a smile hung on his face, which made them smile in return.

"Thanks" They replied simultaneously.

"You don't look bad yourself" Jade complimented him.

"Its good you didn't turn into one of those medical nerds who have no life outside the hospital" Jade teased.

"And who said doctors have no life outside the hospital?" Lair asked back cocking his brow at her.

"Oh! they do?" Jade asked dramatically.

"Well they do" Lair replied mimicking her.

"And I can tell you they have really fun filled lives, and great love lifes too" He added.

"And what would a man who's still single at 30 know about having a great love life" Jade teased him again.

"..." Lair couldn't find a word to refute her, while Jade laughed at him.

"Can we please go now?" Amy said impatiently. She just wanted them to leave for Lair's friends party and quickly leave for hers.

"Alright ladies hop in" Lair said with a broad smile as he walked over to the driver's side of the car.

"You should learn to be a gentle man for once by opening the door for us" Amy said as Lair was about to open his side of the door.

"You can ask your boyfriend to do that for you when you get one" Lair replied making Amy glare at him.

"That won't be for long" Jade said with a confident smile.

"What do you mean?" Lair turned to ask Jade.

"Nothing" Amy rushed to answer making Lair look at them suspiciously.

"Let's go" Amy said in her attempt to distract Lair from the subject.

"Okay" Lair replied as they all stepped into the car.

Soon they started for Blake's party, but Amy was oblivious to this.

"So where's your friend's party?" Amy asked when she realized they were heading towards The Wistons.

"The Wistons" Lair replied with his gaze still focused on the road.

"Wistons?" Amy asked in surprise.

Lair noticed her surprise look from the side of his eyes since she was staring at him.

"Yeah, why?" Lair asked back.

"It's just that my boss's party happens to be in same hotel" Amy replied.

"That's a good thing then, it seems we might not have to leave after all" Lair commented.

The closer they got to their destination, the more nervous Amy was. She had mixed expressions of fear, happiness....but more of fear. She rubbed her palms on her gown as she tried to calm herself.

She suddenly remembered something which made her glance at Lair, "You had earlier mentioned the party we are heading for is that of my colleague right?" Amy asked. She had forgotten to remind Lair of tell her which colleague of her's was that. Maybe she could be familiar with him/her.

"Yeah" Lair replied.

"A girl?" She asked with a teasing smile. She knew it definitely wouldn't be a girl. Lair had never had the time to converse with a lady or keep one as a friend except Jade. If he hadn't been her brother, she'd say he was gynophobic.

"No!" He answered with a mock glare before returning his gaze back to the road.

"So what's his name? Because I think I know all your friends here" She said thoughtfully. She was sure there wasn't a friend of Lair she wasn't familiar with.

"And that's because you're a busy body" He said with a serious face making Amy glare at him, while Jade chuckled behind.

"Whatever, just tell me his name" Amy pressed. She was sure there wasn't a staff she didn't know. Even if not by name, she would know them by face.

"Blake Beau" Lair replied as he slowly drove into the parking lot.

"Blake!?" Amy and Jade exclaimed simultaneously, making Lair look at them surprise.. It seems they knew something he didn't know.
