"What I'm saying here is, I won't press charges. Shouldn't that make you grateful? Attorney Chan, your client is truly shameless asking for more." Richard Sun spat in disdain. He looked at the middle-aged man lawyer from head to toe, disgust glinted his pair of eye.
Zoey hasn't been here since the meeting started. According to her lawyer, she was still recuperating in the hospital so they were unsure if she could attend. Of course, Attorney Chan knew it was a complete lie because Zoey said she was coming.
Attorney Chan just thought of an acceptable excuse for Zoey. At the very least, even if Zoey arrived later, they could use the excuse about the hospital, etc.
"Mr. Sun, please refrain yourself from leaving unpleasant remarks towards my client." Stoic and composed, Attorney Chan was unfazed as he warned.
Richard Sun scoffed, looking at his lawyer who signaled him to calm down. However, it was not enough to calm Richard Sun down. Not just Zoey, but her people were a bunch of proud fools. Who do they think they are?
"So what?" Richard Sun taunted, the corner of his lips curled into a mocking sneer.
"Director Sun, I'll take this from here." Sensing the foul mood from his client, Richard Sun's lawyer cleared his throat and intervened. He got the order from Madam Sun that if Richard Sun was being 'manipulated' or being coaxed by Zoey, the lawyer should intervene.
Yet, the lawyer felt this would only grow bigger if he would let Richard Sun handle this. After all, their main agenda was to flatten any crease that could obstruct the Sun and Xi Corporation's collaboration.
"Attorney Chan, by the kindness of my clients, they wanted no more trouble — that's why we are dropping charges. You know as a lawyer the consequences if this pursued, Attorney Chan." The other lawyer stated, looking at Attorney Chan straight in the eye.
"Not just Miss Zhou, but also it would affect the entire Z Image Group. So, why don't we settle it peacefully?" He added.
"Attorney Fu, my client was firmed on her stand. Should I abandon my client's right if she's not the one at fault?" Not a bit pleased at the words he heard, Attorney Chan questioned. "My client is suffering from a trauma that might lead to different mental illnesses. Not to mention, the physical harm your client inflicted upon my client. Are you saying we keep our mouth shut?" Being blunt, Attorney Chan didn't filter his words to get his point across the other's head.
Although in Attorney Chan's perspective, settling this matter was the most peaceful way. Even without compensation or anything of the sort, Zoey should accept this lucky opportunity. However, his client was Zoey — what do he expect?
For a second, Attorney Fu clenched his teeth. If not for a fact their true aim was not to settle, Attorney Fu would gladly accept this challenge. However, the situation was different and they must stop Zoey from causing trouble.
Meanwhile, Richard Sun could not help but scoff upon hearing her lawyer's last remarks. 'Mental illnesses? Physical injury? Who are they conning? Zoey is already crazy and her grip on my hand was much stronger than mine!' Richard Sun berated inwardly. However, he kept his thought in himself and let his lawyer to deal with it.
"I see..." Nodding his head in understanding, Attorney Fu had to back down and calm himself. "So, how much does Miss Zhou wants as compensation?" Attorney Fu got down to business, going straight to Plan B since plan A failed.
"Huh," Upon hearing that the head of the Sun Corporation legal team gave up immediately, Richard Sun scoffed in mockery. "I bet she's asking for billions — I might as well pursue the lawsuit." He added, predicting the ever shameless Zoey would ask for a hefty price as if she owns the world.
"Good idea." Just then, the door of the private dining room opened, revealing Zoey's hourglass figure. Without further ado, she intruded inside, rendering the men in silence.
"Miss Zhou, aren't you in the hospital?" Surprised that she arrived, Attorney Fu was more surprised that Zoey's visual was no joke. Even Attorney Fu who was a married man could not help but admire her beauty. No wonder Richard Sun got obsessed with her.
"I was... but I'm afraid that you're harassing my lawyer so I came." Nonchalant as ever, Zoey said in a matter-of-fact tone as she took up the seat next to her lawyer.
Meanwhile, although Richard Sun despised Zoey to the core, upon laying his eyes on her, it mesmerized him. Zoey came with her fitted dress, allowing everyone to see her curves. Not just that, but her bust and buttocks complimented her small waist and frame. There was no telling that aside from being beautiful, Zoey's body was more eye-candy — at least to him.
"I — I see..." Attorney Fu cleared his throat, clearing his mind and refocusing on the current matter. The lawyer completely ignored Zoey's last remarks, not because he wanted to. Hence, he didn't point it out and take offense.
"So, Miss Zhou, what is it you want as compensation?" Unlike how they talked dryly at Attorney Chan, Attorney Fu's toned down and asked politely.
"Five," Spreading her fingers, Zoey showed them her hand as a meek smile plastered on her red lips. "Billion." She added.
Upon hearing the amount she wanted, it brought Richard Sun back to reality. On the other hand, Attorney Fu realized why his client kept spouting how hateful she was. Zoey was an opportunist and shameless, indeed!
"Oy! Are you out of your mind?!" Grinding his teeth, Richard Sun grumbled in disbelief. She never changes and she would never change he thought.
"You gave me the idea, didn't you?" Chuckling at the sight of Richard Sun, Zoey teased while Attorney Chan heaved a distress sigh.
If Attorney Chan was in the other lawyer's shoes, he would probably think Zoey didn't want to settle. However, he also knew that Zoey wanted to settle things with the Sun's.. It just that she's too unpredictable, that Attorney Chan didn't know if this goes as planned.
