"Miss Zhou, what do you mean by that?" Attorney Fu asked, shifting his gaze to Attorney Chan who also seemed surprised about what she said.
"Are you really asking me that, Attorney Fu?" Zoey arched her right brow, peering at him with conflicted gaze as if she could not believe he didn't understand the obvious.
"I am not asking for any compensation money. What I want is partnership — let the Z Image be assigned with the signs." Shrugging her shoulders, Zoey simplified her remarks.
"Never." through his gritted teeth, Richard Sun answered. He would never allow her to work with him, especially in this project.
Sure, the Z Image Group were to consider regarding the establishment's signs, but with his relationship with her — Richard Sun wouldn't allow her to gain anything from him further.
"Okay! I'll accept the five billion then." Unaffected by his refusal, Zoey shrugged her shoulders in nonchalance. She had foreseen he wouldn't agree easily. It was good that Richard Sun gave her an excellent idea as an alternative.
"Shameless..."
"I am shameless, Mr. Sun. However, it's oddly a good trait in business." In a matter-of-fact tone, Zoey tugged some strands of her hair behind her ear. "Don't worry. I always stand professional in my field. Also, it's a fresh start for us to see each other as businessmen, not enemies." The smile on her lips grew wider, revealing her even with teeth as her eyes smiled as well.
"Miss Zhou, now that we know your conditions, can we talk about it some other time? Me and my client needs to reconsider —"
"It's now or never, Attorney Fu. This is the only time I can give you... court battles are exceptions, of course." Zoey interrupted the lawyer's statement midway, not giving them a chance to think this through.
"No, never." Standing adamant in his refusal, Richard Sun tightened his jaw as he stared at her straight in the eye. Yet, even with that rejection, it was not enough to see any fragile expression in her eyes. If anything, it was nonchalance.
"Alright. I hope no one regrets this. Have a nice day." Unbothered by the rejection, Zoey smiled as she slowly rose from her seat — same with Attorney Chan.
In Richard Sun's eyes, Zoey didn't care if he agreed or not. She didn't care if she would ruin his months of hard work or what the Z Image Group holds after this.
She's that crazy, there's no doubt. The more reason Richard Sun wouldn't allow her to involve herself in this project. Why? It was because of Matthew Xi.
If Zoey saw him, or the other way around... Richard Sun didn't like the conclusion he built inside his head. He disliked Zoey and her audacity. But most of all, Richard Sun's heart was not ready for someone to have her.
He was considering Matthew Xi here. Although there were rumors that the man was gay, there was never a proof that he was. Hence, Richard Sun knew he could never rival with that man.
"Director Sun," As soon as Zoey left the private dining area, Attorney Fu turned to Richard Sun. His eyes were full of worries and uncertainties.
They should have settled this, but it didn't happen. What would they do now?
"We'll drop charges..."
"But if she counter-sued — Director Sun, I don't know what happened between you two but our personal matters should be set aside." Desperation overwhelmed Attorney Fu's heart that he spoke the truth.
Zoey's condition wasn't that bad. At the very least, she wasn't asking for huge money to shut up. What she was asking was for both companies to benefit one way or another.
Attorney Fu already made a background check on Zoey and her company. To be honest, he must say that the Z Image Group was not a terrible choice — it's the opposite. They were the best in their fields, Attorney Fu must give that credit to them.
Therefore, if they didn't need to consider their personal issues, they could settle this; fix it as professional adults of this society.
"My decision is final." Richard Sun only glanced at his lawyer before he turned and was about to leave the room.
Just then, Richard Sun's phone rang, stopping him in his tracks. Taking his phone out from his suit pocket, Richard Sun answered it immediately as soon as he saw Paul Qian's contact name.
"Richard Sun speaking."
"Director Sun, after careful consideration, Young Master suggested letting our team revise the proposal. As for the contract, I've emailed you my master's schedule and dates when he is available. Please go through with the conditions of the contract." Not going around in circles, Paul Qian relayed the message from his boss.
"What — Mr. Qian, are you saying we got the deal...?"
"Yes," Paul Qian was surprised too upon hearing the order. Hence, he wasn't surprised if it baffled Richard Sun. "I will send you the copy of the revised project and the contract tomorrow morning. I hope there will be no problems on your end until then." With that said piece, Paul Qian hung up the call, leaving Richard Sun in a daze.
Paul Qian's last remarks repeated inside Richard Sun's mind. 'No problems on our end, no problems on our end...'
"Director Sun...?" Unaware of the conversation moments ago, Attorney Fu still somehow got the gist of it. But he needed confirmation.
Little did the lawyer's knowledge, his confirmation was on its way as his phone rang. Checking who it might be, Attorney Fu creased his brows and answered it: it was Madam Sun.
"Yes, Madam?" Attorney Fu greeted, sensing the high energy from the other end of the line.
"Attorney, how was the settlement?"
"Unfortunately, Director Sun didn't agree on the other party's terms." Heaving a heavy sigh, the lawyer delivered the grim news.
"What? Why?! Do you have any idea that the Xi's finally agreed to sign the contract?! Oh my head...!" From loud shouts to a faint murmur, Madam Sun sounded as if she was about to faint on the other side of the line.
"Attorney, fix this now! Do anything to settle this problem today! Don't let my son's emotion control this situation — especially now is not the time." Regardless of how she was acting, Madam Sun ordered. She was determined not to let this opportunity to slip from her hands.
"Yes," with that, the line was cut short. Attorney Fu glanced at Richard Sun, who seemed a little unhappy about something. "Director Sun, we have to agree on Miss Zhou's conditions." To give some respect to the man, Attorney Fu still informed Richard Sun before he rushed outside to catch up with Zoey.
"She never run out of luck, huh?" Watching his lawyer leave, Richard Sun faintly scoffed.
