"We'll be expecting good news then." Clara Wei chimed in, scanning the smiling people around the table.
"Indeed, I would love to attend Miss Zhou's grand wedding." Joining in the conversation, Olivia Tang commented. She emphasized the word 'grand', setting a high standard for everyone to expect.
Olivia Tang disliked that the conversation had slowly shifted to Zoey's wedding instead of her son's. After all, this event was Ezekiel Tang and Clara Wei's engagement party.
It was only natural that they should talk about the wedding plans and everything about the couple. However, Zoey and Matthew Xi were being too extra and garnered everyone's attention.
'Madam Tang, don't even dream of being invited to the wedding of the century.' Commenting internally, Richard Sun shook his head and sighed.
His stress level always skipped to new heights whenever Olivia Tang opened her mouth. If not for the fact that the Sun's and the Tang's have good ties, Richard Sun would let them be on their own.
After all, Matthew Xi could crush them in a blink of an eye. The man could even finish everyone's career without lifting his finger!
However, if the Tangs faced such a dire situation, the domino effect would affect the Sun Corporation. Therefore, he had been trying to stabilize each situation. Yet, Olivia Tang was starting to get on his nerves.
"Oh, please... you make me blush~" Despite knowing Olivia Tang's intention, Zoey still giggled as she patted her blushing cheeks.
"Why are we talking about my future wedding when it's Miss Wei and Mr. Tang's engagement party~?" Still, Zoey's tone displayed zero dissatisfaction as she pointed out the obvious. Well, she's an interesting person, hence everyone was interested.
"If a grand wedding guarantees a peaceful and happy marriage life, I will surely send Madam Tang our invitation." Meanwhile, Matthew Xi turned to Olivia Tang, who was concealing her annoyance towards Zoey's lack of shame.
Now, what Matthew Xi was insinuating displeased the old witch more. Yet, for a woman who had lived most of her years cooking up schemes for others yet still displaying her elegant shell externally, Olivia Tang just smiled as she picked up her glass of wine.
"Of course. A great start such as a grand wedding will definitely bring forth a blessed career and marriage." In a matter-of-fact tone, Olivia Tang replied before sipping the wine. Since she couldn't directly pick on Zoey with Professor Meng and Richard Sun on her back, Olivia Tang found someone she could vent her anger on.
After all, even though he was Zoey's date, she believed that Matthew Xi was a nobody. Hence, he had no value apart from being Zoey's toy.
"You think so too, Mr. Tang?" Before Matthew Xi could respond, Zoey smirked as she set her eyes on Ezekiel Tang's dashing mien.
Ezekiel Tang kept his eyes on Zoey before a smile formed on his lips. "No," he answered, retracting his gaze from Zoey, and scanned the countenance of the people around the table.
"A grand wedding is not a guarantee of a long lasting marriage. Even having a child wouldn't guarantee people from staying together." He paused, setting his eyes on Matthew Xi. "However, a wedding is a gesture of a man's effort to fulfill his bride's dream. So, mother and Mr. Xi both have some interesting points. The decision still depends on the couple, though." Sharing some words of wisdom, Ezekiel Tang voiced out his opinion with a gentle smile.
Obviously, his long answer made his guests nod in agreement. Some were impressed as Ezekiel Tang was indeed a wise man. No wonder he was one of the most remarkable businessmen in the industry — Matthew Xi aside, as that man was on a different level.
Even though her son disagreed with her, Olivia Tang bore a satisfied smile seeing the impressed looks cast upon Ezekiel Tang. "Indeed, my son is right." She agreed, nodding her head as she accepted her meaningful defeat.
"The bride's dreams... Darling, just so you know, I prefer a whirlwind marriage." Contemplating about Ezekiel Tang's keywords, Zoey leaned towards Matthew Xi as she whispered.
Her words, though spoken in a low tone, were heard by some people near her. That includes Ezekiel Tang, causing his mood to drop immediately.
"Brother Zeke..." Sensing the sudden mood transition of Ezekiel Tang, Clara Wei placed her hand on top of his fist.
All this time, Clara Wei should be in bliss for marrying the man of her dreams. However, ever since yesterday, Ezekiel Tang answered none of her calls and completely shunned her.
Thinking that they would be publicly announcing their engagement, Clara Wei shrugged it off. It was not the first time that Ezekiel Tang treated her coldly anyway.
Still, after Zoey's appearance on her special day, insinuating crap about how she was invited, and purposely 'trying to make Ezekiel Tang' jealous, Clara Wei felt suffocated.
She had been whispering Ezekiel Tang's name throughout the night, and yet, he never looked at her like how he stared at Zoey. Hence, Clara Wei's hatred towards Zoey slowly intensified to another degree.

"Wait, darling. I need to go to the restroom. I'll be back." As the dinner ended, Zoey whispered as she felt the need to pee. Matthew Xi just nodded his head and watched Zoey scoot away from the table.
"I remember I have to make a call, excuse me." After several seconds, Ezekiel Tang also excused himself politely.
His guests, of course, nodded their heads in understanding and continued their conversation about their businesses. But Matthew Xi and Clara Wei just stared at him with discretion.
Meanwhile, Olivia Tang just glanced at her son as if she knew where he was heading to. Regardless, thinking that her son was pretty stressed lately, she might allow him off today. After all, even if Zoey and Ezekiel Tang would be involved in an affair, Olivia Tang could settle it privately.
Matthew Xi narrowed his eyes as he watched Ezekiel Tang's departing back. He didn't like the feeling that suddenly surged inside his heart.
"Mr. Xi, can I have a minute of your time?" Alas, before Matthew Xi could ponder hundred of ways to torture Ezekiel Tang, Clara Wei approached him with a smile.
As usual, Matthew Xi responded with nothing but his aloof glance. Hence, Clara Wei repeated once again.
"I want to discuss something important with you.." She added, luring Matthew Xi to agree with her request.
