"Phew. Why is my urinary bladder such a b*tch? The closer I get here, the stronger is the urge to release it." Zoey complained as she exited the cubicle.
She thought she wouldn't make it to the restroom. Fortunately, Zoey made it nevertheless.
Just as Zoey closed the cubicle, a slender figure retouching her makeup in front of the mirror caught her eye. "Isn't this the pretty Miss Gu?" Zoey greeted, striding slowly to stand beside her.
"Urinary bladder only stores urine, we release it through the Urethra." Isabelle Gu smiled slowly as she turned around to face Zoey, correcting her of the innocent organ she seemed to be blaming.
"Wow, I never imagined your inclination towards urine talks, Miss Gu. But thanks for the information! I've been blaming the wrong organ for as long as I can remember." In awe, Zoey chuckled as she shrugged her shoulder.
Well, she's not perfect! She made mistakes here and there. Still, Zoey welcomed any additional knowledge, no matter how little it was.
"No problem." Chuckling at Zoey's easygoing remarks, Isabelle Gu resumed retouching her lipstick.
Zoey, on the other hand, washed her hands while checking her face in the mirror.
"So, I see you're still Miss Wei's Bestie, huh?" Zoey said, staring at the bubbles on her hand due to the soap.
"Miss Zhou, sister Clara might be a little harsh sometimes, but she's a good person." Letting out a sigh, Isabelle Gu pursed her lips together as she glanced at Zoey through the mirror.
"Mhmm, I'm not saying she's not... it's just that her love is a tough cookie." Humming a tune, Zoey rinsed her hand and sighed. "So, you should be grateful." She added after all the bubbles were rinsed off.
"Of course, I am."
"You are?" Slowly, Zoey raised her gaze and set her eyes on Isabelle Gu's side profile through the mirror as the latter was facing her.
"Are you insinuating something here, Miss Zhou?" Chuckling at Zoey's rather suspicious tone, Isabelle Gu raised her brows as she smiled in amusement.
"Oh, Miss Gu, I am not insinuating anything." Zoey chuckled, shaking her head as a memory flashed across her mind. "However, a woman's instinct is terrifyingly accurate. Don't get caught playing with fire." Zoey added, as she dried her hand and searched her purse for her lipstick.
The instant Isabelle Gu heard Zoey's last remarks, she froze. She watched Zoey put on her lipstick and posed as if she didn't drop a bomb.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Isabelle Gu's complexion paled, her lower lip trembled as she scoffed and denied the insinuation.
"Huh? Why do you look so surprised, Miss Gu?" Glancing at the trembling Isabelle Gu, as if her darkest secret was exposed, Zoey chuckled. "I'm merely just a busybody who loves gossiping on my free days, so I thought I should share some with you. Don't worry, I don't have any evidence and you can treat my words as utter crap."
Isabelle Gu took heavy breaths, staring at Zoey who was chuckling like a demoness. "I'll see you around." Mustering her shattered energy and confidence, Isabelle Gu skirred the restroom.
"See ya~!" Zoey's laughter resonated across the restroom, causing the latter's heart to race in panic. Isabelle Gu's instincts were telling her to avoid Zoey at all costs, afraid she would harass her.
Just as Isabelle Gu opened the restroom door, she bumped into a broad, solid shoulder, snapping her back to reality. Slowly, she raised her gaze and gulped as soon as she recognized Ezekiel Tang.
"Brother Zeke..." She whispered, biting her lower lip as the corner of her eyes slowly welled up.
Isabelle Gu was scared. She had been very cautious and careful, but Zoey definitely knew something. What scared her the most was the uncertainties. Isabelle Gu was unsure of the extent of Zoey's knowledge about her secret.
Ezekiel Tang slowly looked down at Isabelle Gu. Seeing her on the verge of tears, his brows knitted.
Alas, before Ezekiel Tang could ask what happened, Zoey suddenly exited the restroom. "Oh my, what's going on?!" Purposely spouting her words slowly and loudly, Zoey gasped as she covered her lips.
"You..." Ezekiel Tang raised his eyes at Zoey, his gaze darkened. "Zoey, did you bully Miss Gu?" He asked. His jaw tightened.
"Ah?" Puzzled at the sudden accusation, Zoey blinked her eyes as she altered her gaze from Ezekiel Tang to Isabelle Gu's trembling back. "Well, bullying is a big word that shouldn't be used recklessly." Scratching her jaw by her forefinger, Zoey pondered on the right term to be associated with the situation.
"Miss Gu, I need to talk to Miss Zhou privately, please." Locking his eyes onto Zoey, Ezekiel Tang spoke.
"Y — yes," Biting her lower lips as hard as she could, Isabelle Gu nodded her head. She didn't even give Zoey a single glance before she left the two alone.
"Why are you doing this?" As soon as Isabelle Gu left, Ezekiel Tang asked firmly.
"Doing what?" Baffled at the sudden turn of events, Zoey blinked her eyes as she raised her brows.
For a second, Ezekiel Tang stared at her innocent front before a sigh escaped his lips. His adamant and strict front slowly crumbled down.
"Z..." he whispered, closing his eyes as another heavy sigh slipped from his lips. "You don't have to do all this." As he mumbled those words, Ezekiel Tang extended his hands towards her.
However, Zoey instinctively pulled her hand to her back before he could touch it. "Woah! people might get the wrong idea." Taken by surprise, Zoey took a step back as she glanced towards the restroom's entrance.
As his hand was left in the air, Ezekiel Tang slowly balled his other hand into a fist as he scoffed and nodded. "Let them have the wrong idea, then."
"Huh? Don't you care about your image?" Arching her brow, Zoey peered at him in disdain. He had lied too many times to her; why the hell does he think she would believe a single word he would say again?
"I don't. Let them write about me ruining my own engagement party — I don't care, alright?" Letting out his frustration, Ezekiel Tang exclaimed.
"Z, I let things end the way they ended in the past because I didn't have the courage. But now, I don't care anymore! All the things I've said before, I meant it. I love you, and I still do." Saying his piece in one go, Ezekiel Tang's shoulder stiffened as he expressed his feelings for Zoey.
He watched Zoey blink her eyes, seemingly surprised, before she pursed her lips and chuckled. "Oh, Mr. Tang... I'll treat this incident as if it didn't happen. I'm sorry, but my date is waiting for me." Shaking her head, Zoey tucked her hair behind her ear.
However, as soon as Zoey took a few steps away from him, Ezekiel Tang grabbed her wrist and dragged her inside the restroom.
