"Browny, if you're afraid of skydiving, we can do other stuff..." Pouting while sitting on the front passenger seat, Zoey murmured with a sigh.
"We're going to do other stuff," Without casting a single glance at her, Matthew Xi focused on the road as he drove.
Earlier, he somehow managed to sabotage her plan. Not that he was afraid of heights; he was just concerned about the distance of the nearest location for the activity. If his estimation was correct, by the time they would've arrived at their destination, it would be nighttime.
Therefore, not only would they just waste their time but also get tired due to the long travel time.
"Like...?" Knitting her brows, Zoey inquired.
"We'll watch a movie." Matthew Xi gave her an indifferent side eye as he uttered in a matter-of-fact tone.
Although he didn't have any dating experience, Matthew Xi had read a book a couple of days ago about dating. Still, watching a movie together, going to a theme park, and all sorts of 'romantic' dates mentioned in it didn't interest him at all.
Yet, it was still a better choice than driving for hours for nothing. Perhaps once he finally got to introduce himself properly to her, Matthew Xi would be able to take her to places that the two of them would enjoy.
"A movie?" For a second, a conflicted look flashed across her face. Studying his side profile, Zoey sighed. "Movie, it is." She agreed, fixing her position on the front passenger seat.
"You don't want to?" Her slight change in tone made his right brow arch.
"I don't think it's romantic, but if I'm there, everything will be romantic." Sounding a little cocky, Zoey shrugged her shoulder.
In all honesty, Zoey was never fond of doing dates like watching movies together. She would rather watch it at home where she could comfortably lay on her bed.
But if that was what he wanted, Zoey didn't mind too. It was just a shame that they would be watching just a movie together instead of skydiving.
"If you don't like it, I'll just drop you home."
"No way!" With a tone full of conviction, Zoey refused as she slowly turned her displeased gaze to him. "Darling, we'll have to stick together like rice on our dates, okay? This is our second date and we'll only have one more!" Grinding her teeth, Zoey spouted facts which didn't impact him.
"You," Glancing at his side, Matthew Xi slowed down and stopped at the stoplight. "You'll stop bothering me after the third date?" Slowly, Matthew Xi turned his face to her.
He saw her ponder, rubbing her chin lightly before a deep exhale slipped past her lips. "Err... it's part of the deal and I'm a woman of my words." Shrugging her shoulders, Zoey frowned.
"So when is our third date?"
"Darling, are you that excited to get rid of me? Don't you really like me? I mean, even if it's just a tiny bit of attraction?" Zoey gasped, assuming his intention differently.
Just then, Matthew Xi glanced up at the green light and resumed on driving. He didn't answer her because he didn't feel like it.
"Hmm..." Zoey constantly glanced at Matthew Xi as he didn't say anything anymore. Suddenly, an idea flashed across her mind that made her eyes light up.
"Darling!" Excited, Zoey exclaimed as she turned to Matthew Xi who nearly jolted from his seat.
"Hmm?"
"Let's not watch movies together — I finally know where to go!" The side of her lips stretched from ear to ear, fluttering her lashes beautifully which was slightly suspicious for him.
"Where?"
"To a very special place!" Still bearing a bright grin, Zoey winked at him which heightened his suspicions. Still, Matthew Xi gave it a go and drove to the direction as instructed.
*****
Almost an hour of travel time, Matthew Xi found himself staring at a familiar high-end bar. His brows twitched along with his tightened jaw.
'This place...' He muttered internally, alas, he couldn't continue the next words as disbelief clogged his throat.
This particular nightclub... special was not the right term; it was horribly memorable. The night where he spent a night with a stranger; the very memory he tried hard to bury.
It took him a while to forget that night, but now, in an instant, it all came back to him. It wasn't a pleasant memory to recall.
"Browny, this place will open up in a few hours, but I know a few places to kill time!" Her grin stretched wider, glancing at his mortified front before averting it to the club's front.
"No, not here." He said in great difficulty. Matthew Xi slowly turned to his side, where Zoey stood with her hand on her back. "Choose a different place, not here." Without a pause, Matthew Xi uttered, not showing a bit of opening for negotiations.
"Eh? I won't drink, I swear!" Feigning innocent, Zoey blinked her eyes many times as she raised her right hand to make an oath. However, it didn't work with him.
"Not here." This time, Matthew Xi's tone was firmer and adamant.
"Why?" Staring at his determined front, Zoey frowned as this wasn't the reaction she expected. "Unless you tell me the reason, I won't change my mind." She added, jerking her chin up as her gaze challenged him.
Obviously, Matthew Xi only kept his silence while his gaze grew piercingly cold. He couldn't say he f*cked someone in this place, right? Or should he?
After all, no matter what term he would use, the meaning was still the same. Moreover, Matthew Xi has a problem with sugar coating his words, and Zoey might misunderstand him.
"If you don't like this place, fine. I won't force you." Heaving a heavy, frustrated exhale, Zoey averted her gaze from him. "Just when I thought I could share a secret with you — forget it! Don't blame me if I go wild!" Glaring at him for the last time, Zoey stomped her feet away from him.
However, after taking several steps away from him, Zoey stopped and looked back at his unmoving figure. Gritting her teeth, Zoey cursed herself internally as she took large strides back to Matthew Xi and grabbed his wrist.
"When a woman gets upset, you follow! Whatever! I'm taking you by force! Damn it!" Through her gritted teeth, Zoey dragged him with her as they headed to the nearby KTV bar that was open during the day.
