Chapter 266 - Regal Party IX

"Is that all?" Despite his calm tone, the already suffocating air around was enough for everyone to feel real.

"Do you think that woman will stay with you? Hah! Don't delude yourself that she wouldn't leave or forget you just because you're the great Xi Matthew!" Ezekiel Tang was even more mad as he hysterically shouted his words for everyone to hear.

If everyone here thinks they're all so great, then Ezekiel Tang would make sure they're not. This indignation and humiliation... he wouldn't let it all end just as they pleased.

"Zeke!" Olivia Tang who was trying to salvage their situation could not help but widen her eyes in disbelief. How come her son snapped just like that?

"Brother Zeke..." Clara Wei whispered, her face turned pale as her expression bore more horror than everyone else around.

Wasn't the humiliation he caused because of his big fat ego not enough for him? Must he have to drag this longer and humiliate himself further?

Clara Wei had always admired Ezekiel Tang as he often conducted himself properly in front of the public. That was why Clara Wei had watched her image carefully.

But why was he doing this? Why must he... just then, Clara Wei noticed that Ezekiel Tang had been gazing at Zoey. Zoey was just staring at him, as if she was ridiculing him as the sly smirk on her lips was evident.

As soon as Clara Wei noticed Zoey's smirk, her heart sank. Now, she realized why Ezekiel Tang just snapped.

It was not because of Matthew Xi, but because of Zoey. He snapped because he knew Zoey very well. Hence, Ezekiel Tang knew what was inside Zoey's cruel mind. Clara Wei might not have the ability to read Zoey's thoughts, but she was certain it was something that Ezekiel Tang understood that crushed his last straw of rationality.

"Is that all?" Repeating the exact same words, Matthew Xi bore his classic poker face as if whatever Ezekiel Tang said didn't matter anymore.

Whatever he spouted, Matthew Xi perceived them with zero value. For him, this was just his last struggle because of his impending doom.

Matthew Xi wasn't even mad at the slap earlier. What he was truly mad about was Zoey getting mistreated and slandered in his own territory.

"Lu," Since Matthew Xi only received a scoff from Ezekiel Tang, he called Lucas Xi without giving him a glance.

Lucas Xi was quick to respond, already guessed what his cousin's purpose was. "Yes, I'll file all the lawsuits tomorrow. Young Master Tang, Madam Tang, we'll see you in court." As if on cue, Lucas Xi bowed his head towards the mother and son duo which contradicted his words.

It was as if Lucas Xi was just asking them to go on a field trip, despite the lawsuits the Tangs would face. After all, a battle in the court was one of Xi's strengths.

It was a legal battle; a convenient way to humiliate the Tangs, to make them pay for the damages they had caused, and lose their business as this would be a long and dark tunnel for their company.

"Madam, please, madam! Give us a chance! My son wouldn't do it again! We know we're wrong not to recognize Mount Tai — please, let this go just once? We're friends, aren't we?" Upon hearing Lucas Xi, the elegance that was left in Olivia Tang's whole being left her soul as she groveled on Vivian Xi's feet.

She didn't care that she was kneeling and begging in front of Vivian Xi. This was considered nothing because if they didn't receive mercy tonight, it's the end for them.

Olivia Tang didn't think of apprehending her son for now as salvaging this situation was her top priority. She believed that if she coaxed Vivian Xi, the latter would remember that they're friends.

"Friends?" Vivian Xi snorted. "I don't remember being friends with you." Despite that Olivia Tang had been her lackey recently, Vivian Xi never let a grudge go easily.

First, Olivia Tang had called her son a nobody. Second, they slandered him and her daughter-in-law. And lastly, she harmed her dear son.

Who with the right mind would forgive such a feat? Well, maybe there were kind people who're willing to forgive, but not Vivian Xi. She's neither kind nor just. She's actually biased towards only the people she cared about matters.

As Zoey watched this unfold, a glint flickered across her eyes. Behind the sweet and motherly-like Vivian Xi lies a ruthless and unforgiving woman. Behind the elegance and status of everyone in this event, lies cowards who couldn't say a word and just watch the Xi's punish the Tangs.

Not that Zoey could justify the Tangs or she felt pity for them. It was just her realization how powerful and terrifying the family she entered was.

The display of power she witnessed right now... no wonder everyone wouldn't just dare offend any of the Xi's. They're a family of ruthless people who lack remorse towards those who've touched their bottomline.

'Why are you worried?' Zoey asked herself as her heart raised a beat. She had already expected how powerful the Xis were. But, why was her heart racing — racing in nervousness?

"Escort them out." Raising her chin then tilt it to the side, Vivian Xi ordered. Bodyguards who were already on standby dragged the pale Olivia Tang by her arms while Ezekiel Tang tried to struggle.

In the end, no matter what Ezekiel Tang shouted, it didn't matter. None of the guests bore pity towards them. If anything, they saw them as dirt who should be avoided for the rest of their lives.

"Forgive me for disturbing the peace, our distinguished guest." When the mother and duo were out of the hall, Vivian Xi took a deep breath and smiled while her gaze scanned the people around.

"No, Madam Xi. We're glad that you've personally dealt with those people." Returning a smile, Senator Wang laughed heartily and the event continued as if nothing happened.

Meanwhile, Zoey remained silent as she watched how the world moved on despite the disturbance. Right, these people wouldn't care about a person who wouldn't give them benefits.

Between the Xis and the Tangs, everyone would surely stand on Xi's side. No matter what they do or no matter how wrong they were, everyone would turn a blind eye.

This was Matthew Xi's world; from then and now. It was now Zoey's world.

"Are you alright?" Just as Zoey was deep in her thoughts, she snapped from her trance as she felt his cold fingers that bore such ardent touch.

"Yes." Slowly, the corner of Zoey's lips curled up yet he frowned. "I should be the one asking you that.." Ignoring the slight frown on his lips, Zoey caressed his slightly red cheek.
