The next day...
"If this model is fine with you, it'll arrive by tomorrow." Kenneth Bai stated tonelessly as his eyes scrutinized Zoey's figure who was sitting on the chair near the hospital bed.
Zoey glanced at the catalog once again before she raised her head, beaming him a grin. "Thank you very much! This is all I need." She uttered bearing the blinding smile plastered on her lips.
"Anyway, that's all I need. I'll be taking my leave." She slowly rose from her seat, tossing the catalog back to the edge of the bed. Upon getting back on her feet, Zoey studied Kenneth who was lying on the bed, seemingly doing better than her from two nights ago.
"Tell me when you have funds for a house and lot — let's bet on that next." Zoey giggled at the humor. She then saluted briefly and began taking her leave.
However, just as she took several steps towards the door, she halted upon the call of the man on the hospital bed. "Wait!"
"Hmm?" She turned, raising her brows in bafflement.
"Are you..." Kenneth paused, pursing his lips into a thin line. "Nevermind." He shook his head, waving his hand as a gesture for her to leave.
Yet, his sudden change of mind caused the side of her lips to curve into a frown. "What?" Annoyed, she asked, turning her whole body to face him from a distance.
Zoey crossed her arms under her chest, clicking her tongue as her right brow arched. "Don't say anything if you're not going to say it in the end. Damn, now I'm curious. Spill the tea!" She commanded, her tone still laced with annoyance.
For a minute, Kenneth remained silent, keeping his lips sealed as his gaze examined the figure standing not far away from him. "Are you..." When he opened his mouth, he trailed off as he cleared his throat.
"Are you dating Brother Matt?" He finally asked, mustering enough courage to ask such a question for obvious reasons.
"Yes. What about it?" Without batting an eye, Zoey answered in a matter-of-fact tone and then asked out of pure curiosity.
'Don't tell me you're against it.' Yet, inside her mind, she incorrectly guessed the reason behind that question. After all, Zoey wouldn't conclude on the part where this conversation was bound to go.
"Why?" Instead of giving her a clear answer, Kenneth asked once again causing her brows to knit.
"What do you mean by 'why'?" Just like him, Zoey didn't answer but questioned back as she tilted her head to the side.
"Why are you dating him?"
"Yes, I know what you meant by that but why are you asking me such a question?" With a tone laced with sarcasm, Zoey stated as her hand moved to her waist. "You know, Mr. Xi is very pretty! Who wouldn't want to date such a man?" In the end, Zoey gave him a pretty lame answer.
It might be lame, but it was half of the truth. After all, who wouldn't want to date Matthew Xi? He's probably the only person that could attain the standard perfection of the society.
He has the riches, influence, not to mention good-looks! Who wouldn't want that deal? Even the most idiotic person wouldn't need to use their slightly used brain before dating such a man.
Alas, unbeknownst to her, her answer made Kenneth ball his hand that was beneath the blanket into a fist. Briefly, his jaw tightened as his gaze roved over her.
Upon the move of his Adam's apple, his words slipped away from his lips. "Is that so?" There was a mix of mockery in his voice that didn't go unnoticed by her.
"Hah! Are you jealous?" Just for the lulz, Zoey humored followed by a devilish laugh. Little did she know, her joke caused his shoulder to stiffen.
"Jealous that your Brother Matt wouldn't have time to babysit you?" To clarify the joke, Zoey added and then wheezed again.
Dismay at how she perceived this situation, Kenneth's brows twitched. 'How the hell did she conclude it this way?' He clicked his tongue, his eyes judged her from head to toe.
'She's smart and capable, but... also insensitive.' Inside his mind, Kenneth commented as she was an odd combination of those traits or so he thought.
If Kenneth knew what she had in mind, that's why she wasn't concluding about silly thoughts like him, he would understand. Sadly, humans couldn't read each other's thoughts.
"Fufufu~! Don't worry. I'm pretty sure your BFF will still have time for you~!" In between her amused chuckles, Zoey reassured — the back of her hand covering her lips.
"Anyway, I got to go. This delicate lady still has a lot of business to do. Ciao~!" After a while, Zoey bid her farewell and then waved her hand as she departed the room.
This time, Kenneth didn't stop her as he watched her leave. The second she closed the door behind her, a heavy sigh escaped his lips.
"Damn it..." Through his gritted teeth, he cursed as his clenched fist trembled.

At the LN Medical Group lobby, Zoey's eyes glittered upon the sight of the majestic man sitting on one of the lounge seats. Without further ado, Zoey skipped her steps as if she wasn't a patient an hour ago.
"Your friend said he'll meet you in the office." When she stopped in front of him, Zoey was welcomed by this information delivered in a chilling tone.
"Oh, Ivan? Okay!" Not surprised, Zoey nodded her head in understanding. "Me too. I'm off to the office. Thank you, by the way..." Zoey didn't beat around the bush as she also needed to tend to Z Image Group's business affairs and then to Milo.
However, she was unable to finish her appreciation as he disturbed her midway. "What are you saying? I'll be dropping you off. Save that for later." He remarked, furrowing his brows as he looked up at her. His eyes, somehow, glistened with inexplicable emotions which made her wonder what he was thinking.. Nonetheless, Zoey shrugged it off which she would wish she didn't, in the near future.
