"...I call that a reminder." The moment she spouted those words, a faint knock came from outside before the female attendant entered holding the menu which she handed to the two of them.
"Hah!" Jimmy Feng scorned, his eyes grew sharper as he stared at that pair of cunning eyes. He did a background check on her three days ago; gathered some relevant information about her and her relationship with the Kwan Family.
Although Jimmy Feng was certain he could scare her after sending her his man, he was surprised to hear that it was unsuccessful. However, he didn't get the proper details about how it failed as the person whom he sent to threaten her just fled without a word.
Obviously, he had done that because he was more afraid of facing Jimmy Feng's wrath. After all, the man was almost fully paid, enough money for him to leave even though he hasn't gotten the rest of the payment. Not that Jimmy Feng would pay the man after a failed job.
Therefore, Jimmy was clueless that the woman whom he thought was a sheep could make him feel utter discomfort. Regardless, he managed to retain his stoic front before her. Still, his heart was restless, acknowledging the fact that he should take her seriously from this point onward.
"Tell me, Miss Zhou, what do you want?" Without further ado, Jimmy changed the subject to the main concern why they're both here.
"Oh, Master Feng… you make me sound like I am holding someone a hostage." Zoey humored, chuckling at her own joke. Shortly after, Zoey looked at her bag.
There were two folders in it. After she smiled, she picked up the right one, opened it up on the last page, and then placed it on the table. She then slid it towards him, right in front of him.
"Please," Zoey gestured her hand for him to read.
Cautiously, Jimmy exhaled sharply before he dragged the folder towards him. He then opened the folder, seeing a contract offer as the title of its content. "Tch." He snickered, shaking his head and continued to skim through the documents.
However, just as Jimmy Feng reached half of the contract, he raised his head towards Zoey. "I can't, Miss Zhou." Firm and unwavering, Jimmy Feng refused of what the contract stated. "Even with the trick on your sleeve, I can't agree with the prices you want." He frowned, his eyes ridiculing the offer before reflecting on it.
"Master Feng, the prices I have given you are justified by the materials we're going to use for the signs you need." Zoey argued calmly, offering a kind smile to him.
"Even so, it is twice the rates I am paying for the signs I've been purchasing." The frown on his lips grew gloomier, staring at Zoey blankly as he argued his point. Not that Jimmy Feng wouldn't want to make a deal with her; he only wanted to pay less.
After all, what he had been saying since the beginning of this business discussion was all true. They all came from his insight as a businessman. Who would pay something when he could get them at a lower price?
"Like I said, Master Feng, the quality of our products justify our prices." Yet, Zoey only repeated her argument with a smile.
Slowly, Zoey linked her hands together, resting her chin over the back of her hand. "It will also be my company's proof if ever something happened to your estates." She added, casting him a knowing look.
"What do you mean, Miss Zhou?" Jimmy Feng's expression sullened, staring at her peaceful front.
"You know what I mean, Master Feng." Zoey giggled. "So have we reached an agreement?" She asked, feigning ignorant to his previous argument.
"Like I said…" He trailed off, seeing her raised her right brow as her eyelashes fluttered slowly.
"So, it's no deal?" Zoey tilted her head to the side, her visage innocent. "I don't mind, Master Feng. Unlike your impression of me, I am not as wicked as you think and won't force you to do business with me." She beamed him an understanding smile, shrugging her shoulders nonchalantly.
"Anyway, since Master Feng had decided, I'll be taking my leave." Zoey paused, retracting her body away from the table. "It's my pleasure meeting you, Master Feng." Zoey slightly bowed her head courtly, slowly assisting herself up.
"Wait, Miss Zhou…" When Zoey stood up, a slight of panic crossed his eyes as he looked up at her. "What about the…" Once again, Jimmy Feng didn't finish his sentence as the ringing of the phone of his assistant behind him interrupted him.
"Answer it, Master Feng. You'll have your answer." Zoey smiled, darting her gaze from Jimmy to his assistant.
For some reason, Jimmy's heart pounded loudly. The smile on her face caused him to break out in sweat, soaking his back as he gulped down. Meanwhile, his assistant glanced at his boss. When Jimmy nodded his head, he answered the call.
The next several seconds, the entire private diner dawned in silence. Jimmy turned around, his heart beating so fast while his hand involuntarily trembled. He stared at his assistant for eternity, and witnessed how his assistant's eyes widened in disbelief.
As the assistant got the grasp of the news from the other end of the line, the assistant held his eye contact with Jimmy while his eyes shook. "What?!" The impatient and panicking Jimmy asked.
But, instead of answering immediately, the assistant averted his gaze away from him and looked at Zoey. "You…" His lower lips trembled while she smiled with a lively gleam in her eyes.
"Like I said, I won't force him to do business with me." Zoey didn't avert her eyes from the assistant, but remained her gaze with him. "But I never said I won't force the real puppeteer of this phony Master Feng." Her smile grew wider to a grin, the gleam in her eyes gradually turned twisted as she slowly unravelled the truth behind the truth behind the Feng Estate.
At the same time, a harsh wind blew inside the well ventilated private diner room. Ivan darted his gaze from Zoey to the Master Feng that was sitting opposite her earlier, and then to the assistant. 'What the…' Ivan muttered internally, bamboozled at the conclusion dropped in front of him unannounced.
Ivan: 'There's two Master Feng?! Wut?'
