Chapter 605 - Sixth Commandment XVIII

"Why do you love this fool so much, Sarah?"

"Zayne, please. Not now." Sarah glanced up and shook her head.

Zayne scoffed, his tongue touching his inner right cheek.

"Whatever, Sarah."

He said as he took a step back before turning around and continued to walk away. Only Sarah understood his actions and disappointment as she was the only person who knew Zayne's feelings for her.

Zayne was kind, understanding, and the complete opposite of Zach. However, Sarah only saw him as her little brother-in-law, despite the fact that Zayne had confessed to her. The reason Sarah often used Zayne's name to Zach as she knew Zayne wouldn't rat her out to her husband.

Sarah stared at Zayne's retreating back before a heavy sigh slipped past her lips. After a heartbeat, Sarah got up and followed him.

"Zayne, wait!" She called out, but he didn't stop in his tracks until he left the front door.

"Zayne!" Outside the house, Sarah raised her voice and he finally halted.

Slowly, Zayne turned around bearing an annoyed front. "What?"

"Don't tell Zach of what you heard tonight." Without thinking too much, Sarah didn't beat around the bush and asked him for a favor.

Zayne was rendered speechless. He arched his brows and chuckled shortly.

"What?"

"I don't want your brother to know that he was calling that woman's name in my presence." Sporting a strong front, Sarah remarked firmly. "I don't want him to feel guilty."

Sarah added after mustering up her courage to speak to Zayne. Aside from the old madam Kwan, Zayne sort of knew Sarah and her train of thoughts. It was not secret to Zayne how much Sarah loved Zach from the bottom of her heart.

After all, she rejected Zayne and married Zach. And yet, she had the audacity to ask such favors despite knowing it may hurt him.

"Hah, sure." Zayne nodded as he shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. "What else can I do? Not that I can ruin someone else's marriage."

"Thank you." Like usual, their conversation often ended with Sarah uttering these words.

After a minute of silence, Zayne let out a deep exhale before looking at her straight in the eye.

"Sarah, I won't ask, but I know you know the reason my brother was acting like this. I just hope you don't play too much with fire. You might hurt yourself along the way."

"Zayne, I won't." The corner of her lips stretched into a subtle smile as Sarah perceived his words as Zayne worrying about her. Thus, she reassured him despite knowing that Zayne already had a clue.

"I can only cover for you on small things, Sarah." As he stared at her dead in the eye, Zayne reminded her as he had guessed something vile was going on in this household. Although he couldn't blame Sarah as it was his brother's fault for cheating on her, Zayne didn't want her to turn into a complete monster.

That wasn't the Sarah Zheng he had known and adored. Especially, with kids involved. Zayne was aware that Beth was pregnant, but not Sarah as her tummy wasn't showing.

"Thanks for dropping my husband off." Sarah said, offering a subtle smile before Zayne nodded and walked towards his car.

Sarah watched as he sped away without looking back, biting her lower lip as a bitter smile resurfaced on her face. Before Zach, she was good friends with Zayne.

When the old madam and the head of the Zheng Clan agreed for Sarah and Zach's marriage, Zayne expressed his pain to her. He confessed his feelings, but Sarah didn't accept it.

Why? Because she already loved Zach since the first time she laid her eyes on him. It was foolish and unexplainable, but that's what her heart wanted.

"I don't know either why I love that fool so much, Zayne." Sarah whispered under her breath as she turned around and returned inside.

One week later in the Kwan Mansion. For the past week, Zach and Sarah's relationship sailed smoother than ever. Sarah felt that Zach gave her more attention as a distraction. Not that she minded as it was what she wanted.

Also, Beth was completely out of the picture. Sarah had tried to mention her name and despite his obvious unpleasant expression, he sported a nonchalant pose and told her Beth didn't matter anymore.

"Madam," While Sarah was enjoying her afternoon tea in the mansion's garden, she heard Jean's voice from behind.

"Hmm? Did the doctor arrive?" asked Sarah as she slowly turned and glanced at Jean.

Jean shook her head as she pressed her lips together. "No, Madam. Someone is looking for you; a woman."

Upon hearing Jean's last remarks, Sarah arched her right brow as she narrowed. By the look of Jean, her visitor was not someone Sarah wanted to see.

"Should I ask her to go away?" Without a second hesitation, Jean asked. Although she already wanted to do that, part of Jean wanted Sarah to put Beth in her place.

After all, Sarah and Zach were already in peace. Sarah had returned once again to her cheerful self and Jean didn't want to see Sarah hurting again.

"No, let her in. Zach won't be home any sooner." Sarah shook her head lightly as she ordered.

Jean stared at her boss for a minute before she bowed. "Yes, Madam."

With that being said, Jean left and welcomed their unwelcome visitor coldly. She assisted Beth towards the garden.

When they arrived in the mansion's garden, Sarah placed down her cup of coffee and smiled.

"Take a seat," Sarah invited, cocking her head to the direction of the vacant seat.

"It was you, right?" Yet, Beth didn't take her offer as she didn't have time to exchange fake pleasantries with her.

"You're the one who paid that guy to do that and ruin my relationship with Zach." Beth added firmly. Her jaw tightening as she curved her hand into a fist.

"Hmm. I don't understand what you're pointing at, Miss Zhou." Sarah feigned innocence as she frowned and knitted her brows.

"Don't feign innocence. He told me everything. I already know!" Beth's voice thundered as her eyes glinted. However, Sarah remained composed as a scoff escaped her lips.

"Miss Zhou, don't you have shame? Where are you getting the gall to confront me? The wife of the man you've shamelessly coveted?"
