Chapter 615 - Last Struggle

"Motherf*ckers!!!!!" Angelo screamed at the top of his lungs. It was his first time shouting this loud until he felt a seething scratch in his throat. Not to mention, the wound on his shoulder spurted with overflowing blood.

"Hahaha! Damn right, we are." Inigo chuckled as he looked down on where Angelo was at.

Currently, Angelo, in an open coffin, was being reeled down in a deep hole which Matthew's men had dug the night before. He was tied down, and his struggles only caused the pace of the coffin to go down faster.

"I am not." With a poker face, Matthew chimed in as he glanced at Inigo's playful countenance.

"Except one." Inigo raised his hands to his shoulder level, rolling his eyes as Matthew never failed to correct him even on the smallest things.

What a weird fellow! Matthew's humor was truly complicated. After all, this was Matthew's idea to 'bury' Angelo since the latter chose the latter option.

"I will kill both of you!" Through his gritted teeth, Angelo threatened. His eyes glinted with a stronger killing intent.

"Yeah, sure. But you already tried just now, didn't you? Yet, here we are, holding your funeral!" Inigo sighed as he shook his head.

"This is what they call the last struggle, huh?"

Inigo added, sporting an apologetic expression as he watched Angelo's coffin reach the lowest surface till where they had dug the night before.

Ten minutes ago, Matthew had given Angelo a chance to choose. However, he chose the hard way. Ang,,,,elo immediately took action after the rope he was cut loose.

There's a difference in what Inigo had guessed, though.

Instead of Angelo assaulting Inigo first, the former hopped and took Matthew as an hostage. With his agility plus his experience, Carter was not enough to protect his boss. Instead, Carter was also held captive along with Matthew.

Angelo didn't have any weapons. Or so, what they had believed. Alas, they all thought wrong. Angelo's thick ring -- which Zoey gifted him with -- actually had a hidden blade beneath.

With just a snap of his finger, the blade resurfaced which he used to take Matthew as hostage. Thus, every weapon that pointed at Angelo was lowered when he ordered, "Drop your weapons or I'll slit his throat."

Even Inigo couldn't do anything with Matthew as his hostage. Well, Inigo knew he didn't need to anyway since Matthew had more reliable men watching him from afar to keep him safe.

Just like what Inigo thought, seconds later, a bullet from a sniper struck Angelo's shoulders. The sudden pain caused Angelo to lose his composure. Owen, one of the most reliable men who was close to Matthew's vicinity, was quick to seize him and pinned him back to the tiled-floor.

And now, here they were, burying Angelo alive who was also suffering from his fresh injury. Matthew only had a scratch from the tip of the blade, but it was not deep enough to leave a scar.

"I will f*cking kill you!" Desperate and furious, Angelo kept on shouting, cursing, and leaving empty threats.

Everyone, even Angelo, was aware that his threats were just irrelevant noises. Obviously, if they truly buried him alive, and he dies from suffocation, no one would know. Well, Zoey and Ivan would probably remember him, but they would never guess who was the culprit that killed him.

Angelo would never get his justice nor his revenge on Inigo. That thought was what made Angelo more furious.

Never mind the pain he was enduring. He couldn't die now. He shouldn't!

Matthew studied Angelo's expression and waited until the latter went silent. When he was certain that Angelo finally understood his goal and the reason he shouldn't die, Matthew spoke.

"I can see you're finally ready to listen." Matthew nodded in satisfaction while Inigo shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.

"What you've assumed so far: me, betraying Zoey and spoiling your plans is entirely wrong. I would betray the world, but I would never betray her even if it means death." Matthew stared at the pale complexion of Angelo who was listening to him blankly.

"Hah!" Upon processing Matthew's flowery words, Angelo could not help but scoff in mockery. "Betray the world but not her? For f*ck sake, you knew that man's head who is standing next to you is what she wants!"

Angelo's voice echoed that grew subtle when it reached Matthew and Inigo's ears. There was no way for Angelo to believe that Matthew was not betraying Zoey because their enemy was standing next to him!

"You're right. Zoey wants this scoundrel's head, but that would never happen." Unfazed, Matthew nodded.

However, his lack of clear explanation only added confusion to Angelo. He wasn't even trying to clear things up, is he?

"Talk about empty promises and twisted lies." Angelo scoffed to himself as he felt Matthew was just trying to twist everything to make him feel guilt-free.

Matthew remained silent as he stared at Angelo's taunting smirk. Even if he was at the brink of death, Angelo's spirit would remain proud.

"I said I won't betray her, but I didn't say I will not correct her." Matthew paused, catching Angelo's attention with his last remarks. "I understand the roots of her grievances, and yours as well. However, they were aimed at the wrong person."

Matthew added in a matter-of-fact tone. Angelo could not believe what he was hearing.

Understand them?

Wrong person?

Angelo chuckled at the level of ridiculousness he was hearing. No. Angelo wasn't directing his vengeance to the wrong person. Inigo was the person who killed his little sister and he was certain about it.

"Bullsh*t," Angelo muttered sarcastically, convinced that Matthew would just give him nonsensical and twisted explanation.

"Your sister…" Just when Angelo had lost all interest in Matthew's words, Matthew mentioned her which means he also knew about it.

Slowly, Matthew glanced at Inigo. Inigo clicked his tongue as he didn't quite like how Matthew acts as if he was Inigo's boss. Heck.

"That little psycho is smitten by that damn Nikolai. She would have slit your throat upon your planned visit. So, I beheaded her before that happened." In a matter-of-fact tone, Inigo explained indifferently as if his crime was justifiable.

It wasn't.
