Chapter 95 - I'm Not A Child, Lewis.

"This is what I meant when I said you might feel uncomfortable if I continue acting the way I want to, Devon. I am about to lose my mind, and I might just snap if you keep doing this."

His tone was low and their distance was close enough for her to get a whiff of his breath mixed with wine. Her hand tightened as she could hear the pounding of her heart in her ear.

"See?" Lewis' brows slightly creased as his jaw tightened. "You don't know what I can do and what I want to do, so don't provoke me."

Lewis warned in a firm tone while his chest moved in and out heavily. Even right now, it took him a lot of self-control not to get blinded by his desire to shower her with his overwhelming affection.

"You…" Devon pursed her lips, studying his pair of menacing eyes as if he would kill anyone. "… look mad."

"I'm not, just a little frustrated." He clarified.

"To me?" she asked while raising both her brows, giving him that innocent look.

"No, silly." Lewis let out a sigh and could not help but cup her cheek, finding her cuteness hard to resist. His thumb gently caressed her cheek as his eyes slowly fell on her lips.

'This close…' he thought, thinking that they were this close, but he couldn't bring himself to lean forward and have a taste of her.

Lewis breathed out heavily as he hung his head low, resting his forehead on her shoulder. How could she be so carefree around him, despite all his warnings?

"Are you alright?" Devon asked cluelessly, tapping his shoulder as his mood suddenly made a huge turn.

He remained silent, not thinking, as his arms snaked around her waist. Devon slightly flinched from the heat of his arms.

"No, I am not," He answered, closing his eyes as he didn't plan to say anything. However, his lips parted, and he blurted out, "I want to taste you, but I can't."

When Lewis realized the words that slipped past his lips, he froze with his pupils dilating. Did he really just admit his thoughts just now? Lewis blinked and raised his head, wanting to see whether he just imagined it or he really had a slip of the tongue through her expression.

Devon didn't look that surprised, or rather, she was taken aback but not overwhelmed. Her reaction was quite complex that it confused him even more.

"Did I say something weird?" Lewis inquired, as he couldn't get the answer from her expression alone.

"No. You didn't."

A sigh of relief slipped past his lips as he nodded. However, Devon's next words made his mind short-circuit.

"Although I didn't understand what you mean by wanting to taste me." Devon cocked her head to the side. "Did you mean you want to kiss me? Or something entirely different?"

His mouth opened and closed like a fish. "Don't mind me."

"How can I not mind you?" she frowned as she squeezed his shoulder lightly. "Let's do it if what you meant is the former."

"What?"

"If you want to kiss, let's do it." Devon repeated as it seemed Lewis was overworked and his mind was not working anymore. "I do not mind, although I'm not good at it."

Her welcoming attitude about the matter confused him on many levels. Did she know what kissing really was?

"Wait." Lewis took a deep breath as he closed her eyes briefly. "Do you know what you're saying?"

"Mhm! My lips." Devon placed her forefinger on her lips and then moved it to his. "To yours. It's what lovers do, isn't it? An intimate act."

"But we're not lovers." He uttered in disbelief, blinking as he was slowly starting to believe he was dreaming. This couldn't be reality, right? If she said they were lovers, he would really think he had fallen asleep and was having a wonderful dream.

Devon went silent for a moment before she puffed her cheek and averting her eyes. "That's right. How silly of me to assume that's what you wanted when I'm not your lover."

"Then, what did you mean then?" she asked as she shot her eyes back at him.

Lewis stared at her for a good minute before he muttered, "I mean…"

"Hmm?" Devon raised her brows once again as she waited for his explanation.

"If I kiss you, what will you do?" were the words that didn't cross his head but escaped his mouth.

"Your brother also asked me the same question." Devon chuckled, as Lewis and Dion might not resemble each other, but they had something similar in their personality.

"What answer did you give him?"

"I told him, I'll close my eyes." She bravely and honestly answered without hiding anything, despite feeling a little weird about the entire conversation. Well, Ghost Lin kept telling her to kiss Lewis ever since to make him feel better, so Devon was trying out this method.

"Really." Lewis let out a soft chuckle as he cupped her cheek. "Then…"

He trailed off as his eyes glinted, staring at her straight in the eye. Devon pursed her lips, swallowing down a mouthful of saliva as her heart suddenly raced.

As his face went closer, Devon shut her eyes while he studied her expression. He was still unsure if this was reality or a dream, so it left bittersweet emotions in his heart.

"Don't close your eyes," he said under his breath, and Devon slowly opened her eyes. "I might really think you have an idea what you are saying."

She frowned, puffing her cheek as she squeezed his shoulder. Lewis continued on expressing his sentiment, which made her feel more upset.

"You shouldn't offer your lips to just anyone, you're not giving out candies. Kissing can only be done with someone special to you and…" The rest of his words were thrust back to his throat as Devon leaned in, tilting her head to the side and her lips landed on his lips for a second.

"I'm not a child, Lewis," Devon whispered, her eyes glinting sharply as she drew an inched away from him. "Do you want me to prove that?"
