Chapter 131 - Scooter

A week had passed since the party, and everyone returned to their regular routines. Lewis had been busier than ever while Devon started researching while keeping in touch with Bella.

"Sis, you're not watching dramas anymore?" Dion asked, turning his head to her who was seated on the floor, reading an article on the laptop placed on the coffee table. "Did you lose interest in the dramas? Aren't you interested when the mother of the male lead will slap the female lead cash?"

"Lu said I can watch them later because everything is on the internet," she replied without taking her eyes off of the laptop's screen.

Dion's face twitched. "Hearing that from you sounds so weird."

"Please do not disturb me." Devon ignored him before snapping her eyes as she picked up her phone beside the laptop. The message came from Bella.

While she was busy replying to Bella using just one finger, Dion had this mixed emotions watching her. It felt strange to him after being with her for a while now. Devon was the type of person who would watch all the dramas all day. Seeing her do something that a 'normal' adult would do felt weird for him.

"Will she really accept that small gig?" he murmured, knowing that Bella offered Devon to play a small role in a movie where Bella would have a cameo. "She already said that she doesn't want to get famous… did Bella tell her about that part?"

Meanwhile, Devon smiled as she read Bella's reply. They had been in contact, and Devon was thrilled to do something else. By doing this, she was starting to forget the time waiting for Lewis. She still looked forward to his returns, though.

[To: Bella

Tomorrow then. ^^ ]

Bella replied, "I'm excited," but Devon didn't bother replying anymore. Bella already sent Devon the location of the taping, and the latter agreed.

"Where is CC City?" she asked, raising her gaze at Dion, who was scrolling through his phone.

Dion snapped his eyes and pondered. "Why? Is that the location Bella sent you?" her answer was a nod.

"Tomorrow. Bella said I have to go there tomorrow around six in the morning. She said that's the call time." Devon informed him, leaving nothing behind. "How will I get there?"

"I can accompany you?" his brow raised as her question was quite what he didn't expect. Did she forget they have cars, — tons of them — and he was her babysitter? Lewis even has a collection that Dion could only ogle from a distance.

"You will drive me there?"

"Of course! If you want to use a chopper, I can ask my big brother." He grinned, showing how his side tooth glinted as he raised his thumb.

"I see." Devon nodded, rubbing her chin as she pondered something over.

"Why, sis? Don't you want me to drive you there?"

She glanced at him, pressing her lips. "I read that there are different transportation in this world. The one we use is one of them, then there's this called a bus which my friends in the television. There is also a bird-like capsule that traveled in the air, a two-wheeled motorcycle, and ships."

"Hehe… is that what you've been reading all this time?"

"I was simply curious about this world, so I studied it."

"So… the point in telling me this is, you want to take the bus?" Dion guessed, as that seemed to be plausible. It could be she wanted a change and wanted to commute — that would be a problem, though. People will recognize him.

"No. My friends always cry on the bus while staring outside the window." She shook her head, letting out a sigh. "I can't ride on a transportation that requires such tough requirements."

"Tough requirements…?" his face twitched once again as it quite baffled him.

"Hmm. It seems to me that riding busses will require me to shed tears. Lu will worry if I return with puffy eyes."

"Ahh…" an awkward chuckle slipped past Dion's lips as he got the grasp of what she was talking about. He wanted to correct her that what she had seen on the TV was merely for dramatic effect, but he didn't. In this case, the bus was out of their option.

"So? Do you want to go there by plane? We don't need to take the boat, just so you know." Dion cleared his throat. "Actually, going there by car is the best option."

"Can we go there by a… scooter?" she asked, making him gasp as he gazed at her with a complicated look. "I've seen some scooters my other friend used with a flag on it."

"With a… what?"

"A flag! Just like that. There is also a box behind it and it looks convenient if I want to bring some things." Devon pointed at the television, making him look at it.

Dion's face distorted seeing a food delivery scooter! Not only she wanted to ride it even though she didn't know how to, but her choice was also a scooter! They had sports cars! Why would she want to travel by scooter that was cheaper than their car tires?

"Sis." Again, Dion cleared his throat as he exhaled sharply. "You see, CC city is a bit far, and traveling by scooter will be a hassle. Why don't we use the car and then practice riding a scooter when we have time? Hmm?"

She frowned but didn't argue. "Alright then." Still, Devon thought of telling Lewis about it. So she took a photo of that food delivery scooter and sent it to him.

[ To : Qin Lewis

Was riding a scooter hard? ]

She attached the scooter just to make sure he knew what she was talking about. Devon didn't wait for his reply, though, as she shifted her focus on reading more about everything in this world.

Meanwhile, in the headquarters of the Qin Empire, Lewis checked his phone only to see a delivery scooter and an odd question. Since he didn't know the entire reason for this question, Lewis forwarded it to Dion.

[ To: Insignificant One

? ]

Dion furrowed his brows as he immediately checked Lewis' message. It was merely a question mark with Devon's question attached to it.

'Dang it. She asked!' he scrunched his nose up, glancing at Devon, who was now back to reading. A sigh slipped past his lips and replied.

[ To : My generous big brother

Ge, sis wants a scooter just like that one! She wants to go to her first gig with that! I mean, why would she need to go to CC city with a scooter if we have cars? Please, stop this madness. TT.TT ]

"A scooter?" Lewis leaned back against his swivel chair, scratching his brow as he set his eyes towards the door. Just then, Derek entered the office with a stack of documents in his hand.

"Your Master, this is the…" as Derek placed the documents on the desk, he was cut off as Lewis raised his fingers.

"I need two scooters."

"Pardon?"

Lewis sighed with a dead expression. "Something like this — exactly like that. I need two of them." He showed him the scooter Devon sent him, making Derek frown.

"Young Master, is this really the time to buy a delivery scooter?"

"Yes. This is the time." Lewis replied solemnly. "I don't need to exert more effort with the De Luca than I am already doing. My fiance wants a scooter."

"Did she say she wants a scooter?"

Lewis averted his eyes, tapping his fingers against the armrest. "We will deliver food."

Derek wore a poker face, staring at his boss who was smitten enough to break a billion dollar deal. They had already problems dealing with the De Luca as the other party retaliated just as expected, and yet, Lewis wanted to buy a scooter and have the audacity to joke. Derek was displeased.

"Derek, please don't send your resignation tomorrow. I won't allow it." Lewis broke the silence, seeing the deadly expression on Derek's face.

"Young master, please take this seriously. The De Luca had more influence in the wine industry and the Qin Empire might have to forget entering the industry." A heavy sigh escaped Derek as Lewis was rather too calm about the situation.

"Derek, my dear assistant," Lewis cajoled, shaking his head as he chuckled in a low tone. When Lewis raised his eyes, a smug smirk appeared on his lips.

"Even without the wine industry, the Qin Empire will remain great. However, since we need to feed our egos and our pride is at stake, I won't let them dominate the industry. You know me, and I hate losing in the game I've played all my life."

Derek studied Lewis's expression and heaved a sigh of relief. That look on Lewis' face was the face of the boss he had known before Devon had an accident.

"Two delivery scooters then." He bowed and didn't argue with Lewis anymore. "It will be delivered to your place and an instructor."

"Thank you, Derek." Lewis smiled as he stared at Derek's back. His smug smirk slowly grew into a vicious smirk, swirling his seat as he looked at the city behind him.

"Quentin De Luca is surely an interesting man.. It's been a while since someone actually gave me a thrill in this boring game."
