C35 – This IQ? So Worrying!
Tang Yue was about to inquire about the commencement of the meeting when an elderly gentleman rose to his feet and queried, “Is this the young master of the Tang Family who cured Wang Zizhao’s legs?”
Tang Yue nodded and wanted to ask, “May I know who you are? Shouldn’t you introduce yourself first before asking others?”
“Humph! Since when did the Yueyang Marquis have such a son? Could he be a spy from North Yue?” the man sneered.
Damn! He had suddenly been elevated to the level of a country. How absurd!
“Excuse me…Sir, do you think I’m a spy just because my name contains ‘Yue’? If your intelligence is that limited, it’s truly worrisome!” Tang Yue retorted.
“You insolent brat! If you can’t even show respect towards your elders, how can you be a doctor?” the man spat.
“Sir, which one of your eyes saw that I don’t respect my elders? Did I hit you or insult you?” Tang Yue refused to back down from a fight. “I can’t accept your unfounded accusations.”
“You have a sharp tongue,” Tang Yue said. “Hmph!”
“Master, it is you who is being unreasonable. Addressing you as ‘Sir,’ you seem to think of yourself as a grandfather.”
“Let me ask you: who is your master? How long have you studied medicine? How many patients have you healed?”
The old man asked a series of questions, causing many present to sneer.
Tang Yue was young, and even if he had been studying medicine since birth, he had only recently graduated from his sect. Yet, he had the audacity to claim that he could cure Wang Zizhao’s leg.
Where did he get such confidence from?
Instead of answering directly, Tang Yue posed a question of his own. “Sir, you seem to doubt my medical abilities. Why don’t you wait for a month to see if Wang Zizhao’s leg recovers before making a judgment?”
The elderly man had an incredulous expression, as if to say, “Are you joking? Wang Zizhao holds such a noble position. How can you let a young, inexperienced person have his way?”
“Master, what makes you think that?” Tang Yue understood their lack of trust in him, but he wished they wouldn’t speak so openly.
He could be humiliated if he were to be slapped in the face.
Of course, none of the elites present felt the same way. Tang Yue’s young age alone was filled with drama.
Tang Yue glared at Wang Zizhao with resentment. He didn’t understand why he had called these elderly men to come here. He couldn’t have wanted to fight Wang Zizhao in the arena.
Although Wang Zizhao caught his disdainful look, he didn’t say anything. He had invited these medical experts over to provide their opinions on Tang Yue’s treatment plan.
After all, Tang Yue was young, and it was challenging to make him fully trust this inexperienced young man.
“The doctors here are all exceptional talents from Xing Lin. I invited them here today to provide them with a learning opportunity,” Wang Zizhao remarked, completing the slap on Tang Yue’s face with just one sentence.
The elderly men’s expressions were not favorable, and they were also somewhat unconvinced. They believed that Wang Zizhao was already fortunate to have regained the use of his legs to this extent. Did he still expect to make a full recovery?
Although they also desired to do so, they did not possess the expertise!
Additionally, Wang Zizhao was willing to trust an inexperienced young man who had not been able to cure his own condition. Wasn’t this a humiliation for them?
“Your Highness Ninth Prince, I am not targeting you,” Wang Zizhao clarified. “I merely believe that entrusting such a young and inexperienced individual is too risky. You should consider it thoroughly.”
Wang Zizhao signaled to the butler at his side, who left and promptly returned with four guards carrying a stretcher, upon which lay an injured patient.
Tang Yue raised his eyebrows and comprehended Wang Zizhao’s intentions immediately.
It was an ancient custom for the emperor to have his food tasted by someone else. It appeared that Wang Zizhao wanted Tang Yue to be the first to test his skills on this patient.
Though Wang Zizhao’s idea was sound, Tang Yue didn’t feel at ease.
“Tang Xiaolang, please take care of this patient first,” Wang Zizhao requested, motioning for someone to bring the patient to the prepared room. He then turned to Tang Yue with a smile.
Tang Yue shrugged and followed. The other doctors at the scene also wanted to enter and observe.
However, Tang Yue blocked the doorway with his hand and politely smiled. “If you have some free time, please stay behind. Thank you!”
“Why won’t you let us see? Are you worried that we’ll laugh at you if you can’t cure it?” The old men grew irritated to the point that their beards were standing on end.
Tang Yue sneered. “Where do you think you’re going? I’m afraid the big guys will try to steal my master!”
“……” This impolite kid! I could just slap him to death!
Each one of them was a renowned expert, even the nobles had to defer to them. They never expected to be provoked repeatedly by a youngster today.
Tang Yue was not afraid of them stealing his mentor. It was just that the operating theater needed to be free from external disturbances. While he could prevent these seniors, he couldn’t do the same for Wang Zizhao.
“Are you sure you want to witness it?” Tang Yue mocked him.
Wang Zizhao nodded in affirmation.
“Very well, you may observe, but you cannot say a word during the procedure. No matter what you witness, you must remain silent!”
Wang Zizhao was a soldier who had fought on the battlefield. He was not afraid of gruesome scenes. Tang Yue was only concerned that witnessing the treatment process might traumatize him.
