"We don't have much time! Just do it! Trust me!" Keng shouted, dropping Hydrosphere as he turned.
'It's time to put this to the test.' Keng let out a breath. 'Let's see if that section in the God weapons book was worth the read…' Keng's mind pulled up the conversation about Hydrosphere wielders.
"So why is Hydrosphere rarely given out? Does it serve a great purpose? It doesn't have much Weapon Arts from what I've been able to figure out." Keng asked. Gorrum and Keng sat underneath the shade of the blue leaf tree as a breeze swept by. Gorrum was reading through one of the books in the Saviors library. It was about God Weapons and what the Saviors knew. Keng had noticed this and brought up the subject since Gorrum was pretty much the expert with the subject.
"Many texts say that Hydrosphere is to only be used when balance is off." Gorrum spoke as he put a bookmark in and shut the book. "Hydran, the goddess of the Moon and Waters, holds a unique position within the pantheon. She represents night as well as the bodies of water. Her moonlight is given to us, not because she wanted her twin brothers to feel less alone, but because it's a reflection of her power."
"Her power? She's a goddess of water… Water could give life or take lives. How is she powerful?" Keng asked, curious to know where the conversation was going.
"Water can give life or take it." Gorrum repeated. "Do you know how much water is on Daros?" He looked over at Keng. Keng shook his head. He barely had any knowledge on Daros' world. He may have seen maps before but it was specific to an area. He had never seen an actual world map of Daros, yet. "60% of Daros is water. Seas, oceans, lakes, reserves… They're all domains of Hydran. Those daggers were the culmination of 60% of the world. They represent her entire domain, not even counting their representation of the Moon!"
"This is a great history lesson and all, but what does this have to do with Hydrosphere not being given out?" Keng asked.
"To take a life and to give life is a heavy task." Gorrum kept his eyes on the curious boy. Keng listened attentively, looking at him with hungry eyes. "The four elements could very much give and take life, but Hydrosphere has always been a weapon that's held that title."
"To kill or live?" Keng whispered.
"Correct." Gorrum nodded. "Hydrosphere isn't given out often because it has both things the God Weapons all want. To take a life or to give. Asura's Blood Scimitars take lives. Dahlia's staff only is used as a weapon of healing, giving. You understand?"
"I… I think so." Keng nodded. "Not many people can fit into that category? To protect lives but to also kill a life? The soldiers protect the village and kill things. How is that any different?" Keng's mind was walking around loops. Life and death came hand in hand like night and day. Fire and water, earth and air. Things always had their counterpart. It was the way Earth and Daros worked.
"Hydrosphere is a trident. It's representation is used all throughout many cultures and lives. A farming tool. A weapon to protect. A weapon of war. A weapon for fishing. You could dodge one prong only to meet one of the other two prong's. It's form usually doesn't shift because it represents many people and cultures all throughout Daros, but it changed for you. Daggers represent betrayal, loss and danger but also can be seen as protection, sacrifice and bravery. The goddess represents life and death, her trident represents all, and the fact Hydrosphere shifted into daggers, represents the duality of all."
"Hmmm, life and death, protection and loss, people and culture… Basically an adaptable God Weapon." Keng summarized.
"Adaptability. Through the past, present and into the future, Hydrosphere will always adapt like it's Goddess." Gorrum nodded, letting the conversation sit for awhile before he spoke up, again. "Even though all of the elements technically can bring life and death, there's so much we don't know about water. Since Hydrosphere shifted into daggers for you, we need to figure out just how adaptable you can become at a moment's notice."
"Why? Isn't it already enough I'm trying to figure out what I can do with all of the tools at my disposal? It's kinda hard to constantly dip my feet into different things while also trying to work on what I'm currently learning." Keng complained. Gorrum chuckled, nodding.
"I suppose that's one way of looking at things." Gorrum replied. He pulled the book off his lap and handed it to Keng. Keng looked at Gorrum as he offered the book up to him. Keng grabbed it and set it on his lap. "I marked the spot where the Saviors talk about Hydrosphere. Apparently in the early days of the Saviors, there was a Savior who wielded Hydrosphere. Maybe you can learn a thing or two from them."
For the next few nights, Keng read through a large portion of the book. To his surprise, it was, maybe, a third of the entire book on God Weapons. During this time, Keng had learned of the previous Savior who had wielded Hydrosphere in the past. Their name was Am'e. She was in very early recordings of Savior history. Keng had found out from checking the library that Am'e was one of the first few soldiers that ended up in the ranks of the Saviors when the three leaders founded the group.
Am'e was a woman from the Jungles of Cara. She was from a tribe of Fox Spirits who lived their lives as close to the beasts in the same jungle. From what Keng gathered, she was 'primitive' in her fighting style which made her even more of a threat in the eyes of others. Am'e was found by Lady Freya when she was wandering from place to place in search of Saviors.
Am'e had natural athletic and fighting talent. It wasn't until Lady Freya fought her that she truly knew what Am'e was capable of. Am'e wielded a blue trident that could manipulate water, bending many things to her will while working in tandem with the dexterous Spirit's fight. Lady Freya bested her and noticed the Light within Am'e and told the Caran warriors she was looking far and wide for people like Am'e and it took some time, but Am'e soon joined after being taught how to wield a portion of that Light.
The strangest occurrence Keng read about Hydrosphere was that Am'e learned she could put Hydrosphere in a state of "Resonance." The weapon could take into its true form, pure water through passive energy gathering through use of the weapon. It would shimmer and eventually reach a point where the user could unlock the "Resonance" state. When paired with the power of the Saviors, spells and skills from the Light would increase by, what Keng assumed to be an exaggeration, 'a thousand fold.'
Am'e wrote, in depth, about the Resonance state but never really shared any spells with it. The last thing, of Keng's interest was what she left off with.
"Hydrosphere may not have much to go off of. I, the current wielder, had to basically learn all of the God Weapon Arts on my own. It's the most adaptable weapon in fights. Close combat, long range combat, and even control through the Light. Practice gaining the Resonance state and you might just unlock the secrets I found for yourself."
'Miss Am'e, I will take your teachings and use them.' Keng looked up at the Cursed Dryad. Her hands were purple and black as she raised them higher into the sky. Two large purple energies grew out of her hands, destroying the tree of Yggdrasil as the energies combined together.
"Die!" The Cursed Dryad shouted, throwing her hands forward. The large purple energy ball shifted forward, moving straight for Keng and the others.
"Now, Lily! Fill the space with your Light!" Keng shouted. Lily stuttered as she started to play the ukulele.
'A Radiant Bolt spread apart? How does that even look like?' Lily wondered as she began to pluck random chords.
"Resonance." Keng uttered. The field of Twilight rippled all around Keng.
"What's happening? The energy is growing stronger. What's he doing?" Jyu'so looked at Gorrum.
"Using the knowledge I gave him." Gorrum smiled. "Elder, let's protect them as best as we can until they're ready. I fear the corrupting energy is going to get us before the two of them are ready."
"Is that so?" Jyu'so raised his right arm up at the ball of cursed energy. They watched it destroy everything around it. The pure energy in the sky tore and burned away. "Void Curse: Leeching Curse." A blast of black energy flew straight into the purple ball, seemingly doing nothing as Gorrum pulled his swords over his head.
"Blood Art: Endless Fire!" The scimitars burned bright, changing from an orange-yellow color to a pure blood red color as he released the strikes, simultaneously.
'Radiant Bolt felt like lightning coursing through the air.' Lily thought. 'So this version will just have to be lightning scattering through the sky like a storm… Like a storm. I'll have to make it like a storm! Alright, let's do this!'
