Chapter 272 - First On The List

Bzz! Bzz! Bzz!

The vibrating on James' left pocket makes him scrunch a little. He then steps a bit far from Barbara before he picks up the call. "Hello?"

"Mr. James…I have good news for you and also bad news." The man on the phone chuckles before he continues again. "Which one would you like to hear it first?"

"Whatever," James replied while glancing at surrounding him. The guests of the party in the ballroom was still shocked by the incident that happens to Sarah and the bombarding on the opposite building.

With so many people rush in and out of the hotel, he decides to stay inside the hall. Well, at least until his bodyguard secures a way out from this hotel. He couldn't care less about the person who died nor the attack on the opposite building.

"Well, you really are no fun, Mr. James. So, hmm…let me go with the good first." he silent for a few seconds, which makes James grunting a little. "You bastard, say it now!" 

Chuckles, the man continues again. "We got you the intelligence device, Kiera, but…here comes the bad news is.."

James smile contently. Finally, there's no evidence about the accidents five years ago if he just wipes out the intelligence device from the earth's surface. The deal is that if he gets Kiera, the other party will get the Gen-x that has been in their hunt list years ago. Kiera leads to the Gen-x. There's no doubt about that.

"We have two of your grandsons. Apparently, either one of them is the testament of Gen-x. And it seems like one of them really pro how to handle the intelligence device."

Frowning, James thinking for a second. "My grandson? Which one?"

"I believe his name is Sky, and the other one is Alex."

Upon hearing the name of Alex, James grinning before he burst into laughs. He's been long to find his 'lost' grandson. This means he was right from the start.

The woman who brings that kid to the world is the one who dares to control his own son and make his son so useless like now. Now, he sees a new opportunity. A new creation of him will be implanted in that kid's future.

"Just spare me my beloved grandson, Alex. You can discard Sky as you want," he said with excitement. He can't wait to see his 'new' grandson. 'Who he would look like, huh?'

Since the boy is in his hand now, there's no way he will return it to his parents. Alex is now his new possession to create another 'him' to be the top of the clan. Since Raymond is a failure son, he thought Sky will be easier to control, but he was wrong. That brat is too hard to handle as he got more brain and always talk rudely to him, the elders.

"You're a cold old bastard. Well…I need that boy, Sky. He'll be my ace card in my group. So don't beg me in the future huh old man." the man said and ended the call.

Meanwhile, Barbara was so startled when she saw what Sarah has become. She was totally not like herself. More like a crazy person just now. And…how could Elanor trick Lawrence by engaging Sarah to Brian? Does she do not fear that she might offend so many people in this hall that is full of prominent figures? Even though they are Rochester, they should know which household is superior and which one she shouldn't mess up with.

It is so embarrassing to be humiliated like this. While Barbara was lost in thought, one lady younger than her in a few years walked to her while holding her phone.

"Mm, Madam Wayne.." she whispered in a low voice, which make Barbara turn her head to the woman who looks a bit anxious.

A few high-class society ladies are grouping at the corner of the hall while looking at their phones and looking immersed in their world.

"Yes?" Barbara replied in a short sentence while looking back at the girl in front of her.

"Uh..I'm sorry, but I would like to ask you something. Um...Is this your daughter? It's all over the news just now." the woman sneers a bit before showing her the contents of the news that is quite hot now in the search engine.

Upon reading the title, 'Daughter of the high-class socialite, Ramona Wayne detained in Mexico, for illegal drug trade with the largest cartel mafia.' Barbara gasp loudly. Her eyes almost pop out from its socket.

The photo that shows on the news is really Ramona's face. 'What the f.u.c.k is this stupid girl do now?' she wants to scream in anger. Still, she held it back when seeing everyone peek on her expression, like they expecting something that would embarrass her in front of many people.

Obviously, they were gossiping about her, and just what the hell with this day?? It's such a stroke of bad luck for all of them. Sarah dies, and now …Ramona is getting detained at another country for dealing drugs??

While trying to sustain her composure, she smiles at the woman from before and clearing her throat a little. "Ahem...I think there's must be a fault with the news. My daughter will never do anything like this. She's a good daughter." she still smiling and walks to her husband, who just ended his call.

"James, we're in trouble," Barbara said while trying to keep her voice low.

"What is it?" James lift up his eyebrow and yank his arm from Barbara's grasp.

"Ramona..she.. she got caught in Mexico. We need to clear this matter. We have to go there now."

Scoffed, James look at her with disdain, "She's useless like you too. Why would I need to help her? I told you, didn't I? She's not my daughter. So, you better solve this by yourself. If you weren't able to solve it at the end of the next week, I'd kill you since you have no use for me anymore." 

Gulped, Barbara bit her lips. She was totally abandoned by her husband. But what's make him act this cruel? Ah, that's right..it's all start with her.

She's the one who plants the evil seed in his personality and changes him into what he is today—a pure devil in disguise as a human. Even now, she can't control him like she used to. All of it starts after he found out that she was having an affair with one of her butlers back in the days.

When he was away, she uses this opportunity to have an intimate session with the man who works as her butler. After she got caught, the man has been murdered brutally by James' men.

A month later, she knew that she was pregnant with Ramona and started to actively have s.e.x with James every day to erase the baby's suspicion inside her w.o.m.b. She keeps telling herself that James did not notice that Ramona is not his daughter, but who knows that he knew since the beginning and just play along with her act?

Now, everything has been like this, there's no turning back. Barbara needs to find a great resource to help her daughter. James gives her limited time for a week, so she'll use her power to release Ramona.

While she was in deep thought, someone was approaching her again. This time it's their bodyguard. "Madam, Mr. James said that he needs to go somewhere, and he asks you to find your own transport back."

"What??" Shocked with what she just heard, Barbara almost throws her purse to the innocent bodyguard. Today is really a bad day for her.

"Find me a taxi then!" She glared at the bodyguard, and he squirms a little. Afraid of her probably.

"Er…it might take a little time since all roads to the hotel have been blocked with heavy traffic due to the accident just now."

"Ugh!!" Barbara slams her hand on the wall before she went to sit down on the chair. She really hates when people keep talking behind her back, but what worst is…she could see them clearly and had to pretend like she was okay with it.

"Where's Raymond?" she asked. Maybe she can get out of this hall by following his son, she thought.

"Mr. Raymond and Miss Luna are currently at the hotel rooftop. I heard Mr. Brian already book them a helicopter to send them home."

Barbara grit her teeth. Such an unfilial son she had! Why he always does whatever he wants and forget about his parents? Just whose behavior is he taking after?

He becomes a total idiot when it comes to someone he loves. Barbara keeps cursing both her son and her husband. While keep staying inside the banquet, she also saw a few people from Madeline's forces came and cuffed Elanor with her husband for fraud the engagement.

It made her realize that Lawrence always had been the first on the list that you shouldn't mess with, and no one can take that position from them.
