94 Awkward
Shen Yin was stunned. Her heart, which had begun to thaw, suddenly turned froze again.
This man had threatened to throw her out of the car at their first meeting. Now that she had just escaped with her life, he was treating her so coldly. She felt so ill used that she turned her head to look out of the window and decided to ignore him.
The car stopped at the hospital entrance. Shen Yin stubbornly tried to open the car door herself, but her hands and feet had been tied too tightly for too long. Just a little exertion caused sharp pains to shoot up her wrist, forcing her to retract her hand.
Lian Jing noticed her actions and sneered. He got out of the car and opened the door for her. Just as she was about to stubbornly try to walk, he picked her up.
Shen Yin leaned away from his chest.
Did he think that she was an object? He was so fickle towards her. She did not want his treatment of her to be dependent on his fickle moods.
Lian Jing looked down at the unappreciative woman. He suddenly felt relieved. If she could still throw a tantrum, she could not be too badly injured.
Those were his thoughts but his expression grew even colder. “If you struggle, you can get down and walk by yourself.”
“Just leave then! I don’t need you to care about whether I live or die! Anyway, I’m nothing to you!” Shen Yin glared at him angrily and struggled to get out of his arms.
Lian Jing ignored her and carried her steadily into the emergency room.
The doctor treated Shen Yin’s wounds and arranged for her to be hospitalized for observation.
She was the only one in the silent and empty ward.
She curled up under her blanket and suddenly felt inexplicably sad.
What was she to Lian Jing? Did he really like her? Or did he just treat her as a plaything…
She closed her eyes. Her mind was filled with Lian Jing’s cold profile as he drove her. Indeed, she was not suited for relationships. Once she liked someone, she would take it very seriously. However, faithful men were too rare. Surely someone like Lian Jing must have met many women who suited his fancy.
“Are you trying to smother yourself?”
Someone suddenly lifted the blanket off her head. Shen Yin exclaimed in surprise and raised her head, her entire body trembling uncontrollably.
Lian Jing placed the thermos on the bedside table and touched her forehead with a cold expression. After testing her temperature, he sat by her bed expressionlessly. “Are you afraid?”
Shen Yin was still curled up. She was angry and lowered her head, unwilling to talk to him.
“Are you mute?” Lian Jing angrily opened the thermos and scooped some porridge into a bowl which he placed on the table. “Get up and eat. Surely you don’t expect me to feed you?”
Shen Yin glared at Lian Jing, whose attitude was extremely bad. She gritted her teeth and used her elbow to prop herself up. She had to use an immense amount of energy just to lean against the head of the bed. She wanted to raise her hand to take the spoon, but her wrist was burning with pain.
She took a deep breath and smelled the fragrance of the food beside her. Her stomach was growling with hunger.
She gritted her teeth and reached out again, but a large hand snatched away her bowl.
Lian Jing still did not look at her, but he blew on the hot porridge for her and brought it to her mouth. “This is repayment for taking care of Nian Nian alone for six years.”
Shen Yin’s heart constricted. She lowered her eyes, unwilling to let him see her disappointment. She still refused to admit defeat and continued to provoke him. “I don’t need repayment. Nian Nian is my son.”
“He’s also my son,” Lian Jing reminded her. He stuffed the next spoonful of hot porridge into her mouth without blowing on it.
This porridge had been prepared and sent over by the servants at home. In order to avoid scalding Shen Yin, they had already cooled it down a little. It would not scald her, but it was still uncomfortable to eat.
Her entire tongue went numb from the heat. She glared at this petty Lian Jing, who was waiting for an opportunity to take his revenge. She was so angry she slid down, ready to crawl back into the blanket without eating another mouthful of porridge.
Lian Jing put down the bowl and looked at the lump on the bed. He actually wanted to laugh although he was still angry.
He pursed his lips and pulled her out into his arms. He picked up the porridge bowl again and forced her to finish it before stuffing her under the blanket. He got up and turned off the lights in the ward.
Shen Yin originally thought that he would leave. She curled up under the blanket and pricked up her ears to listen for any movements at the door. After waiting for a long time, she still did not hear the door open. However, the blanket was suddenly lifted, and a hot body pressed against her.
