Chapter 121 - Met Assistant Ye at the Airport

When Li Qin Yao arrived at the airport, she was surprised to see someone holding a signboard with her name on it. Upon closer look, Li Qin Yao thought that the man was somewhat familiar.

The man lowered the signboard and walked over to Li Qin Yao with a polite smile on his face. "Miss Li, hello!"

Li Qin Yao frowned. "You are?"

"Miss Li, I am Director Zhang's assistant, Xiao Ye. Do you remember me?" Xiao Ye secretly glanced at the woman before him.

Xiao Ye had seen Li Qin Yao before during his boss' last visit to Capital City. It was the first time for him to see his boss with a woman, and his boss had even instructed him to upgraded her room to an expensive suite in the hotel.

Now that he had received instructions from his boss to treat her well, naturally, Xiao Ye was curious about Li Qin Yao's relationship with Zhang Yu Han. However, he still knew that he could not ask and overstep his boundaries as an assistant.

Li Qin Yao nodded. "We met the last time I came to the Capital City. But why are you here?"

"Director Zhang send me over to fetch you and take you wherever you need to go," Xiao Ye said as he handed over his name card.

Li Qin Yao looked at the card and held up a hand, signaling Xiao Ye to wait for a while. Then she went to the side and dialed Zhang Yu Han's number. The moment the call was connected, Li Qin Yao lowered her gaze to hid her reddened face with her hair. She was not expecting Zhang Yu Han to spoke to call her name with a lower tone.

"Qin Yao?" Zhang Yu Han continued to call when she did not reply. He looked at the phone screen and was sure that the call was still connected.

At this moment, Li Qin Yao's body had turned rigid. As expected, she was still weak towards Zhang Yu Han's deep voice. Moreover, this time, he deliberately lowered his voice as if he was whispering, and his voice was full of pampering.

"Hmm," Li Qin Yao managed to answer after a while.

"Have you arrived?"

"Hmm… The flight just landed a few minutes ago. I met Assistant Ye at the airport. You send him over?"

"Didn't you say you were going to get a taxi from the airport?" Zhang Yu Han looked at the manager who stood in front of him. The elder man was still waiting for his answer to the report he submitted. "I worried that you will have to wait for a long time when you could not get a taxi. I hope you would not mind this arrangement."

Her lips subconsciously curved into a smile. "Zhang Yu Han, thank you. Okay. I have to go now. I'll text you later when I get to my grandparent's place."

Li Qin Yao walked over to Xiao Ye once the call ended. "Sorry about that."

Xiao Ye smiled. "Don't worry, Miss Li. It's fine." He glanced at Li Qin Yao's luggage and offered to help. Xiao Ye took her to Zhang Yu Han's Cayenne and drove over to Li's residence. Once they arrived, Xiao Ye reminded Li Qin Yao to give him a call if she needed his help before he drove away.

Li Qin Yao walked into the mansion, Auntie Han came to greet her. She handed over her luggage and asked, "Where're my grandparents?"

"Old Madam is in the kitchen, and old Master is in his study," Auntie Han said. "Miss, do you want to head upstairs and rest first?"

"No need. I'll go and see my grandmother first," Li Qin Yao said. She watched Auntie Han took her luggage into her former room and texted both her mother and Zhang Yu Han that she had arrived at her grandparent's place.

Then, she walked into the kitchen and saw that her grandmother was standing in front of the stove, cooking something that smelled delicious with her helper called Ah Xu assisting her.

Because she did not want to startle her grandmother, Li Qin Yao leaned at the door and watched as her grandmother move back and forth between the table and the stove. When Ah Xu noticed her presence, Li Qin Yao put a finger on her lips, to signal Ah Xu not to say anything.

Ah Xu nodded and pretended that she did not know anything.

Once it looked like her grandmother had finished, Li Qin Yao knocked on the door.

Immediately, Mu Ling Xi turned around. Her eyes widened and there was unmistakable happiness when she saw her granddaughter. "Qin Yao! You're here!"

"I have been standing here for a while, Grandmother," Li Qin Yao admitted.

"And you keep on standing there in silence," Mu Ling Xi washed her hands and dried them on a towel. Then she went over to her granddaughter that she had not seen for a while. Mu Ling Xi laughed when her granddaughter hugged her. "Quickly let me go. I probably smell after spending too long in the kitchen."

"It's fine."

Mu Ling Xi let out a helpless sigh. "How is your mother?"

Seeing the grandmother and granddaughter started to chat, Ah Xu excused herself to do other tasks.

"Mother is doing good," Li Qin Yao said. "Recently, she has been busy with her works. Right. My mother sent over some food and supplements for you and grandfather."

"Even though we have not seen each other for a long time, your mother would still remember us," Mu Ling Xi frowned a bit. There was a hint of regret in her tone each time she mentioned her former daughter-in-law.

"Mother always said that you have always been good to her in the past. Of course, she will remember you," Li Qin Yao said. She then looked around and saw a lot of dishes being prepared on the table. "Grandmother, why did you cook so much?"

Mu Ling Xi smiled. "Your auntie and her family are coming back for a short vacation. Since you are also in the Capital City, I have invited everyone to gather and have a meal together for dinner. It has been a while since the last time since everyone come together for a family meal." Mu Ling Xi lowered her gaze as she recalled the last time her children and grandchildren all gathered together.

At that time, her eldest son, Li Xuan had passed away from a heart attack, leaving her granddaughter, Li Qin Yao alone. It was always disheartening when a child died before the parents.

Li Qin Yao's gaze turned a shade darker at the thought that everyone else will gather for dinner. It has been years since the last time she had seen her youngest auntie's family. However, if everyone gathered together, then it would also mean that her Second Aunt, Zhao Wei will also be present.

When she recalled Li Ming Han's warning, Li Qin Yao wondered what will happen at the family dinner later.
