Chapter 123 - Family Dinner

After a few hours of rest, Li Qin Yao went downstairs and helped her grandmother to set up the table.

The first to arrive was her youngest auntie, Li Chun, and her family. Once her youngest auntie saw her, she immediately pulled her into a tight hug. After a while, she pulled away, looked at her niece from top to bottom and suddenly, her eyes reddened.

"Yao Yao, you've grown up," Li Chun touched her niece's face. "The last time I saw you were five years ago, right?"

Li Qin Yao's surprised expression faded and her gaze softened.

Five years ago, her father had died and the last time she had seen this aunt was on the day that she followed her husband to C Country.

In the past, because Li Qin Yao and her father had stayed in Li's Residence, she was quite close to her youngest aunt. Because she married quite late, her auntie had treated her very well and doted on her.

"I bought you and everyone else some gifts from C Country," Li Chun said. She turned around to look at the helpers who were carrying the items she bought home inside and coincidentally saw her teenage son behind her. "Right," Li Chun waved her hand to her son. "Yao Yao, you remember your cousin, Nan Feng?"

Li Qin Yao looked at the teenage boy and saw him nodded to greet her. The last time she saw this cousin, he was still a little boy. Right now, the small boy has grown up taller than her. He looked at Li Qin Yao with an expression that clearly said, 'don't talk to me'.

Seeing that expression, Li Qin Yao greeted him before she turned to her auntie to chat about their life abroad.

Not long after, her second uncle's family arrived.

As Li Qin Yao saw her second aunt, Zhao Wei, and her cousin, Li Mu Chen walked through the door, she subconsciously tightened her hand into a fist. It was only when her second uncle, Li Jing, her worry disappeared. This was because, she knew that whenever her second uncle was around, the mother and daughter would always behave themselves.

Li Mu Bai intended to have a talk with Li Qin Yao regarding the project in B City, but when he saw that she was chatting happily with their youngest aunt, Li Mu Bai went over to his grandfather's office instead.

Her third uncle's family was the last to arrive, and when they arrived, Li Ming Han did not appear together.

Initially, her grandmother, Mu Ling Xi wanted to start the meal once everyone had gathered, but once her third son, Li Sheng whispered something to her, Mu Ling Xi's eyes brightened up before she ushered everyone to start having their meals without Li Ming Han.

The scenery was lively as the family chatted while having meals. Because it has been a while since Li Chun and her family returned home, she became the center of attraction. Their conversations revolved around her life in C Country.

No one would dare to talk about company matters with Mu Ling Xi's appearance in the dining table.

Li Qin Yao was having her meals in silence when she felt as if she was being watched. When she looked up, her cousin, Li Mu Chen was staring at her with an intense gaze.

Although she could guess what Li Mu Chen was upset about, Li Qin Yao decided to pretend as if she had not seen her anger.

The family was in the middle of a meal when Auntie Han appeared and announced that Li Ming Han had appeared.

Mu Ling Xi's expression brightened up upon hearing the news and soon, Li Ming Han walked into the room with a girl beside him, causing almost everyone to look at him in surprise.

"Ming Han, you're here," Mu Ling Xi beamed as she stared at the lady beside her grandson.

Li Ming Han led the lady towards his grandparents and introduced the girl, "Grandmother, grandfather, let me introduce you," he looked at the woman beside him and smiled. "This is Bai Qing Qing."

In just a few seconds, the atmosphere in the dining room turned livelier at the news that Li Ming Han was planning to hold a wedding with the woman soon. Because this will be the first wedding among their grandchildren, the grandparents were extremely happy.

Mu Ling Xi asked Auntie Han to prepare another seat for both of them and chatted up with the lady.

Of course, as the eldest grandson, Li Mu Bai could not escape his grandparents' nagging to find a partner soon.

Once the dinner ended, Li Qin Yao went out alone in the garden to have a walk and help digest the food she ate. Unfortunately, she stumbled into the mother and daughter, Zhao Wei and Li Mu Chen. Just as she was about to turn around and evaded those two, Li Mu Chen had noticed her presence.

"Li Qin Yao, you stop there!"

Li Qin Yao took a deep breath, rolled her eyes and stopped. Actually, she could have chosen to walk away, however, since the one who asked her to stop was an elder, Li Qin Yao chose to stay. She turned around with a smile on her face and greeted, "Second Aunt."

Zhao Wei stopped in front of her and forced a smile. "I heard you won the bidding project in B City. Congratulation."

Of course, this congratulatory does not sound sincere.

"Thank you."

Zhao Wei narrowed her eyes. "Just tell me, how did you get those people to agree and invest? Who are they?"

Zhao Wei had worked with QL Group for years and naturally knew almost everyone connected to Li Qin Yao. Previously, she had heard that everyone that Li Qin Yao had reached out to had pulled out before they could sign an agreement to invest. Zhao Wei had thought hard and in the end, she still could not figure out who did her niece had sought out for help.

Even when she had asked her son, Li Mu Bai regarding the investors, he had refused to say a word and only told her to wait until the meeting with the boards of directors before she figured out the truth.
