As soon as Lu Shaoting left, Lu Aotian sat Wan Jia on his lap and looked at her seriously.

"Where were you planning to go?" he asked.

"To my former family. I was going to ask them something but I thought you were really sick and rushed here." she said, not at all angry that he had tricked her. Her man was not one to do unreasonable things, he must have had a plausible reason.

Lu Aotian nodded gravely. Indeed, that was where she was going. "Why?" he questioned.

Wan Jia fell into thought.

The previous night, Yun Jifeng had told her things that made her really want to find out the truth about her birth once and for all.

"To find answers." she finally said.

Lu Aotian understood the answers she was talking about better than anyone. He had watched their conversation.

Lu Aotian replayed the video from the footage. She had guessed about it already, there was no point hiding anymore. Right now, he wanted to see if there was something he had missed out when he played it before, as well as use it as a starting point to explain some matters to her.

...

Wan Jia was humming lightly as her hair swayed in the breeze when she felt someone approaching. She looked over then arched her brows in curiosity. What was Yun Jifeng doing outside? From the looks of it, he seemed to have been looking for her.

"After not seeing for a while, someone became more beautiful and elegant." Yun Jifeng complimented.

Wan Jia thanked him in a rather distant manner.

Yun Jifeng smiled at her and said, "So that certain someone learnt to keep their distance too? What happened to being brother and sister forever?" he looked pained.

Wan Jia kept quiet. She couldn't help but recall that almost four years ago, Yun Jifeng had indeed made such a promise. That was on the day she was sent away from the Yun family mansion. He had said that he would protect her to the end of the world.

Although Wan Jia trusted him because he was Yun Xuan's most beloved brother, she had never asked him for help no matter what she faced. She had kept a further distance especially when she noticed that the man had started to develop romantic feelings for her.

"What brings you here?" the girl asked him.

"I didn't expect you to come." he said. Then he looked at her with a serious expression. "After all, you and my sister should logically be enemies. After setting each other up who would think..."

Wan Jia rolled her eyes. She had heard this statement from Lu Aotian before but she didn't find it this annoying. Furthermore, she was trying to find ways to distance her relationship with Yun Xuan. What was her brother doing, striking a conversation with her?"

Wan Jia turned to the side and ignored him.

Yun Jifeng scoffed. "Tsk, truly like mother like daughter. Although you don't look alike, your character is in sync. Even the way you turn away to ignore people is similar."

Wan Jia's heart skipped a beat. "What did you say?"

Yun Jifeng seemed to realize he had said the wrong thing and turned to leave. "Forget about it, I was just speaking mindlessly."

Wan Jia's heart was beating with quick loud thuds as she rushed to block his way. "No, Yun Jifeng, repeat what you just said."

This was the exact effect he had hopped for. He appeared cornered and unwilling to speak. "Well, I said the wrong thing. Just forget it. It's not related to you."

Wan Jia was annoyed. "What do you mean not related to me?! You clearly said "like mother like daughter and that our character is similar. How is that not related to me?"

Yun Jifeng tried to get away but was pulled back easily by Wan Jia. It's not that he was really trying to get away in first place; it was just an act.

Wan Jia knew nothing of this and was determined to force information out of his mouth. She turned him, pushed him to the wall and held her fair palm against his neck in a chocking position. Her eyes were the highest degree of murderous he had ever seen. They were not paling too much in comparison to Lu Aotian's when he was angry.

To other people, those eyes would be scary enough to give them a lifetime supply of nightmares. However to him, they were simply too alluring.

"Speak." she ordered.

"It's really not related to..."

her glare intensified. He thought he had had enough fun playing around with her and told her. "It's really nothing. A woman just approached me recently and told me to help her speak to her daughter."

It was brief, but she understood his words. "And that daughter is me? Why then did she contact you and not the people close to me like Lu Aotian?" she raised an eyebrow.

Yun Jifeng blinked like it had nothing to do with him. "That woman does not know who her daughter is. She just recieved a photo of her child and mistook my sister for you. You and Xuanxuan look alike after all." he shrugged.

"Recieved a photo? How is that a way to find to find your lost daughter? Where did she even get it?" Wan Jia thought none of it made sense.

Yun Jifeng shrugged again, as if he was just repeating what he was told. "Who am I to ask? She said she got it from the He family."
