Chapter 46.1 - About The Days When Your Spouse Isn't Home 4 Part 1
Yang Mo had been away studying for over a week now.
Habit was a very terrifying thing. Yang Mo’s life had evolved to be very “resistant to annoyance” ever since he had tolerated Han Shi Yu’s presence. Just like the neighbor’s house that was under renovations continuously for 17 years, the same noises became something that accompanied Yang Mo to sleep every night.
If the renovation team had left suddenly one day, anyone would feel unused to it as well.
But Yang Mo was a very focused person. As long as he was concentrating on one matter, he would be able to cast aside any emotions for the moment. Time would pass by like an arrow, similar to the two years he spent abroad before too. As well as that one month where he almost broke up with Han Shi Yu.
However, the appearance of Alan, a foreign friend who was extremely curious about Han Shi Yu, completely disrupted Han Shi Yu’s adjusted mindset.
Yang Mo realized there was a problem with his brain. He wasn’t able to complete block out his name.
At nights when the lights were off, Yang Mo’s eyes remained open in the dark.
He couldn’t sleep.
He sat up, leaned back on the bedframe and picked up his phone which was charging.
There was nothing entertaining on his phone, only a Qu Di app.
Yang Mo tapped into the blue icon and browsed the literature column. He glanced at the list of chapters he had saved before.
Yang Mo did usually read, but he read with a purpose. His notes would be half as thick as the books he read. And he read many genres, but rarely went for ones from the internet.
Ever since he was recommended by Han Shi Yu the fanfic ‘As if a fish bone was stuck in one’s throat’, he thought that it wasn’t so bad. Then, he followed Aurora Leaping Towards North with his private account and started to wait on the updates like a fanatic. At the same time, he also followed after two Starry Rain fanfics.
In his bookmarked folder, there were also only these three fanfics.
Aurora Leaping Towards North is an author who fell into revolutionary work. Not only did she leave ‘As if a fish bone was stuck in one’s throat’ not updated, she fell into the Starry Rain pit and never looked back or returned.
Not A Programmer and Aurora Leaping Towards North both would never have imagined that the legendary Starry would one day be the little fanfics they wrote while wrapped under their blankets at late night. All the climaxes they wrote, their imaginations of how Starry would be held under someone and had this and that done on him as well as how hhk would do this or that to Starry and reducing him to tears…
Yang Mo read it all.
The legendary Starry furrowed his brows in one part puzzlement, two parts awe and seven parts of having his view on his world reshaped. Then, he would maintain this expression while reading all the comments one by one.
That night, Yang Mo had a newfound understanding of this world. How culturally diverse and inclusive it was, where hundreds of flowers could bloom in the same place. Something grew within his mind overnight.
He analyzed very critically the possibility of the thousands of weird tactics the commenters said. He concluded that if they were put into practice, there was an 80 percent chance that he would die in bed.
The corners of Yang Mo’s mouth twitched.
What kind of things filled the heads of these girls all day long?
Fortunately, they were mostly going crazy in the comments. The story itself was still heading towards a refreshing and simple direction.
Yang Mo helplessly returned from the comments to the main text before slowly read through this story that described their university years.
""
He recalled that one time when Han Shi Yu asked him out to a concert together. It was already night time when the concert ended. The two of them were within the crowd and their shoulders would brush against each other occasionally. Excitement echoed clearly amidst the noise and laughter around them.
Han Shi Yu asked if he was having fun and Yang Mo replied that it was so-so.
He gently touched the back of his hand and then grabbed onto three of his fingers tightly.
There were people all around them. Yang Mo let out a warning grunt, telling him to let go.
“If I’m standing up there,” Han Shi Yu refused to listen to him and said instead, “I can find you in one glance.”
This man was confident, flamboyant and truly born to stand in the middle of the spotlight. He truly belonged on stage in his future. That was what Yang Mo thought when he first saw him performing on stage at the food festival.
When your significant other shone too brightly, it can be really troublesome. A person with such looks, personality and status, combined with being romantic and sentimental, even if he didn’t actively get involved with flowers, he would still passively attract butterflies over.
Yet, the president of Ji Xun still managed to isolate himself completely from such things thanks to his lack of intelligence.
A friend once advised Yang Mo, “You have to be more passionate. A man like Han Shi Yu is too sought after. If you don’t get much of a response from him for far too long, it’s easy for him to gain the desire to cheat.”
Yang Mo: “Heh.”
Friend: “?”
When Yang Mo came back to his senses, he had reached the end of the latest chapter. The corners of his mouth were still curved up a little.
Somehow, when he saw the ending of the last sentence, there was a feeling of emptiness in his chest. It took him a while to identify what that emotion meant. It was like…a longing.
He seemed to be, sort of, missing that foolish idiot.
This was a first.
