"Kazuya, don't leave. Please," Lyn somehow got her voice out. It was so quiet, but it was enough since he immediately ran back to her.
"Lyn…" Kazuya mumbled. "From now on, no matter what anyone says, I will treat you as my wife. The formalities can wait, I won't let anybody stand between us. I won't let anybody hurt you."
A flash of dark hair appeared in her head. That's right, that person said so too.
….
The next morning, Lyn woke up in a panic because she realized that Kazuya wasn't beside her anymore. Where did he go? Did he leave her again? She no longer wants to be left alone. Kazuya..where did Kazuya go? Just as Lyn panicked, she hears a voice from the door.
"The carriage is already at the front, sir."
"Right, thanks. I'll go fetch Lyn- the Princess, so head back out."
Soon the doors opened.
"Hey," Kazuya greeted. "Morning L-" she broke his sentence off when she wrapped her arms around him. Kazuya laughed, "What's the matter with you?"
"Kazuya, where did you go? Why did you leave?"
His gaze softened. "I just want to make breakfast arrangements. We're stopping by somewhere to eat breakfast before heading back," he stroked her hair.
"I want to...be alone with you." She doesn't want to see people right now. Or rather, her current state was far too unusual if anybody saw her like this, then they would undoubtedly exploit her weakness.
"Me too. Don't worry; we won't be disturbed."
"Kazuya, you know I think I might like Rhys." When she thought about the image from last night that overlapped after Kazuya's confession.
Kazuya chuckled. "Don't worry, Lyn, I already knew that."
"But isn't that strange?"
"Well, your partner isn't decided until…"
Lyn shook her head, "You don't find that tradition strange?"
"I do, but honestly, Lyn, the Empire doesn't exactly have normal traditions."
That's true; this isn't just limited to the Mist Kingdom alone.
"I won't say I don't mind, but it's just like you. Having such a big heart," Kazuya brought her hand to his cheek. "Lyn," he said softly. "I was actually surprised you picked me. I thought you'd chose Rhys, regardless of whether you remembered him, you naturally fell for him. Choosing me must be painful for you, but I'm pleased, you know?"
"Kazuya, I think your an idiot. Why do you think that is?"
Kazuya only laughed and then relayed some information to her. Lyn looked at him alarmed, why did he tell her this information just now?
"But, big brother said. ..If somebody strains their power, then that person will die." Even now, Lyn could remember the conversation clearly; due to the rare serious expression, he was showing then. "Please, give me your power! Don't strain your body any further!" she exclaimed.
Although her brother told her that, she won't mind bearing that pain.
"Calm down. I'm fine. Some people have survived my situation."
He made a point there. But in the first place, the reason why those people could survive is because their power levels are normal.
"I didn't know you had this many facial expressions."
"What?"
When Lyn saw a tender smile on his face, her heart skipped a beat. "All this time, you pretty much only showed one expression. But now, I see so many sides of you that I didn't before. I can't keep up with all this new stuff. I'm a bit overwhelmed with everything.
Lyn averts her gaze, "Because of my childhood." The reason the emotionless shell she had been since childhood; has changed this much is because of Kazuya. Ever since she met him, Lyn felt like she could be the real him. "You're the one who changed that."
"So, these tears are all mine too, huh. . .." Kazuya carefully wiped away her tears with his finger. "Don't you worry about me, I'm just not used to my power yet. Given time I'll surely be able to control it."
Even if he says that she will not stop worrying about him.
"Let's hug more."
"Why?"
Kazuya's lips brushed at the nape of her neck, as he places light kisses there.
"W—what are you doing?" Lyn expected this behavior from Rhys, not Kazuya of all people.
"Hey, you said you didn't mind."
"D— didn't mind what?"
"If I make you mine."
Come to think of it, two days ago; on their way back home. Kazuya said it to her if there was anything she wanted from him, and she had boldly declared it. 'I don't mind. . if you make me yours in the same manner that you have been testing with others. In fact, I prefer it if you do it that way. 'At that time, she had been filled with those feelings of not wanting to lose to her sister.
But Lyn didn't think that he was seriously considering it. Is it okay for him to touch her? As she was debating in her mind, Lyn felt his lips gently bite her lower lips.
Lyn looked at him, startled, "... .! S—stop!"
"You know, it's quite annoying when you hesitate like that. Don't run away, you crazy girl."
Is he angry? He sounds mad. Will she get hit?
Lyn braced for the pain only to feel Kazuya's lips on hers. What a fool...But Lyn has to admit that she loves being kissed by him. After a few minutes, she pulled away, "Kazuya, I don't deserve your kisses and your hugs."
She doesn't deserve to feel this warmth. A person like her does not deserve such happiness. But yet Kazuya still holds her so lovingly, "That's enough Lyn, even if you are cute when you cry. It pains me."
"But Kazuya, I'm so terrible…"
"Well, nobody is perfect, right?" Kazuya smiled. "Let's get going Lyn, I'm taking you out for a breakfast date."
"Date?"
"Mmm. We haven't gone anywhere in a while."
"But Kazuya, what about your work?" Lyn questioned. She really liked the feeling of his hands on her hair, and his cheeks - she liked to touch them.
"I have other people taking care of it. For now, let's focus on the present."
Lyn nodded. But, isn't the work necessary? She's a bit torn about this. After hearing what Shioka said the other night, Lyn knew that the situation isn't good right now. As the ambassador, Kazuya has the duty to work alongside the Mist Kingdom forces. To prove that he is serious about the alliance.
He has to prove himself, but right now, Kazuya is more concerned about her current state. How very foolish, maybe she ought to tell Kazuya about Shioka's plan. More than her brother's side, Kazuya would benefit more helping Shioka. If she brought it up to him, he would undoubtedly agree. He could use this chance to.
