Chapter 75 - Butterfly effect

Getting into the back seat of Jaehyun's car, Jinhee was astonished to see Chaewon on the seat beside the driver's seat.

Not understanding how to ask about it, Jinhee voiced out, "It is surprising to see you here!"

"I'm his assistant for now," Chaewon answered.

The butterfly effect— This definitely had to be that. In her last life, Chaewon was not related to Jaehyun in any way.

It could be that since Jinhee is friends with both of them, a stronger relation built between the two. Jaehyun's assistant could not be carelessly chosen, and therefore, it showed that he had some sort of trust for Chaewon.

Jaehyun being close with other females no longer bought a strong, bitter feeling within her heart, and in fact, she wanted him to move on from her.

'Could it be that I don't like him that much anymore?'

Jinhee's eyes widened in realisation, and this lifted her mood up. She was successfully moving on Jaehyun, and these little feelings she had left with disappear within no time.

"What are you smiling about?" Jaehyun questioned.

The usual nonchalant face that Jinhee tried to maintain disappeared, and she looked like a typical teen, who has achieved something precious, at this moment.

Naturally, she was in a good mood at this moment.

The smiling expression did not leave her face as she spoke out, "The weather— It just feels great."

"Hmm…" Jaehyun replied.

If she could prevent the scandal from her last life and reject Jaehyun properly, two more burdens will leave her shoulder, and finally, she could have some relaxing time.

With her prying side coming out, Jinhee asked, "How did you get to become his assistant though?"

Her happiness made her feel extra chatty today, and she did not hold herself aloof to the world today. One day of being free would not do much harm.

"He saved me and then offered it to me," Chaewon replied concisely.

Jinhee stared at Jaehyun with curious gaze. Jaehyun was not the type to save the damsel in distress or someone who'd easily hand out a position. There was definitely something sketchy about it.

'What is he actually planning?'

"Is that so? So, how are you finding work so far?" Jinhee asked while leaning towards the front seat.

"Just started at today morning so can't say much," Chaewon replied.

Just when Jinhee was about to open her mouth, the car halted all of a sudden. Due to inertia, Jinhee was about to get hurt if it wasn't for Jaehyun holding her waist and pulling her back.

"Sit properly," Jaehyun scolded, "Not like some kid."

"Ah! Thanks, Jaehyun," Jinhee responded with a simper. Being scolded by a male, who was younger than her mentally, was somewhat embarrassing.

"Once in Japan, stay with me and don't run around. Don't follow anyone who asks of you to and don't get persuaded by their words. It's not safe," Jaehyun expressed.

'Who does he think he is talking to? A five years old? And when did he become so talkative?'

Holding her urge to roll eyes at him, Jinhee obediently nodded. His concern for her was genuine, and unlike Taehee, she did not find him annoying.

Talking about Taehee, Jinhee found herself lucky to be away from Taehee for almost five days.

°°°

Why was luck never by her side when it came to Taehee?

Jinhee wanted to cry out. All she wanted was a trip to Japan without any Taehee. Was that too much to ask for? Could it be that Taehee shares bug's DNA?

The moment they got into the airplane with the crew members, Jinhee was surprised when she noticed Taehee was seated beside her with a smile plastered.

For a second there, she thought she was hallucinating, but it was not the case. Two hours of constant chattering from Taehee was what she had to endure, and after going through this, the good mood she had earlier disappeared.

During the entire trip, Jinhee couldn't seek for Jaehyun's help because he was busy with his matters and was seated way far from her.

If killing was legal, Taehee probably would have been dead by now.

Once they had landed, Jinhee thought that Taehee would leave her alone. But that was not the case. From the moment they stepped on to the airport, Taehee kept following her with a smiling expression.

Standing out of the airport, Jinhee waited for a taxi. Taehee, Jaehyun, and Chaewon stood beside her. Jinhee's bag was starting to feel heavy on her shoulder whilst she waited under the hot sun.

A taxi halted in front of them, and bending down, Jaehyun spoke out some words in Japanese to the taxi driver. The sunglass, hat, and scarf on his body made it hard for others to recognise him.

Standing up properly, Jaehyun voiced out, "The taxi driver will drop you at the hotel, and I'll be going with the crew. Just call me in anything goes wrong."

Grabbing Jinhee's shoulder, Taehee pulled Jinhee closer to her, and then, innocently smiling at Jaehyun, Taehee spoke out, "I'm here to take of her. You shouldn't bother yourself with this matters, Jaehyun. You have work. I'm sure Jinhee and I will enjoy our time here together properly."
