“Lady Kahlua, you came to the right place. May I talk with you for a moment?”
“Hmm, who are you?”
After a while Kahlua had come into the guild as well. She and Rika meet here everyday before going to the dungeon but today Celestin called out to her.
“I’ll introduce you. Kahlua, this is our eighth member Celestin.”
“Nice to meet you Kahlua, I’m Celestin a [Butler]. I look forward to working with you.”
Celestin bowed gracefully as he introduced himself. It was actually pretty cool.
“Kalua, I’m a [Starcat] nice to meet you.”
Celestin didn’t seem to mind Kahlua’s plain introduction and continued with what he wanted to talk about.
“I have something I wanted to ask you if that’s okay?”
“What?”
“It’s about the donation that Sr. Zephyrus gave to you when you joined the guild.”
“The donation?”
Kahlua seemed uncertain about what Celestin had just said. Wasn’t that a contract fee? In the game that contract fee was required to hire a cat person, it was money you gave them so that they would join your guild for the three year period. It wasn’t anything official but was accepted and even expected by the player base. Is that not the case?
“…….I see, I will explain from the beginning then.”
I had the same confused look on my face that Kahlua did so Celestin began explaining from the beginning. It sounded bad but this was something that I had no idea about from my time in the game.
“The beast king Gartaiga?”
“Yes, It’s an A rank mercenary guild composed entirely of cat people. Did you not know of them Kahlua?”
“I feel like I’ve probably heard of them before.”
With him calling it a donation and not a contract fee I think I know what path this conversation is going to go down.
“Sir Zephyrus seems to have guessed where I’m going with this but I will continue to explain anyway. Originally it was customary for cat people to belong to that guild, for the purposes of studying to be a mercenary.”
So to put it simply Kahlua was supposed to belong to that guild as well. Most of the cat people are in the mercenary business since all of their available jobs are combat jobs. It seems that they normally join that guild first to learn how to be mercenaries. Seriously! I didn’t know about this! I have to pay attention to everything that Celestin says, missing even a single word would be blashpemous.
“Cat people have a strong sense of unity and sometimes form a group with others. But where the kids learn is from beast king Gartaiga. Now I will move on to the main subject. If you are enrolled in another guild, you have to go through the proper channels with Beast King Gartaiga. So the contract fee would have been the Mir paid by Zephyrus. However we’ve received contact from that guild saying that the proper channels had not been gone through nor had they received the Mir.”
“………?”
Kahlua was tilting her head curiously while I had started sweating.
To the point, Kahlua was supposed to automatically be assigned to Beast King Gartaiga. However she was already enrolled in a different guild, but the contract money was required for her to be able to do so. But according to Celestin, since I paid the contract money the problem wasn’t with me. The problem was…..
“Hmm, What?”
“Not what….”
Why was she unaware of this? Kahlua had already used the contract money on equipment. It’s possible that she just didn’t remember but if that’s the case please try a little harder to remember important things like this.
After that we had a long talk about consequences and went to meet a coordinator for the A rank guild.
“Kahlua you idiot!”
“Fufu, that didn’t hurt.”
The student we met with was a third year and an acquaintance of Kahlua. Her name was Mimina and as soon as she hear what happened she pounced on Kahlua and smacked her upside the head.
“Since it was Kahluas fault it’s fine but please be careful next time. The son of the beast king is guildmaster this year, what happens if he gets angry? …….Well probably nothing but….”
Nothing is going to happen? In the end the contract fee was to be taken from Kahlua’s income. She hadn’t use much of it so it wouldn’t take her long to accumulate it. However Kahlua was in tears over ‘her money’. It was never yours Kahlua….
Fortunately the contract fee remained at the 5 million because I would have had to bid her farewell if it had gone up to the 100 million for [Starcat]. Although the reason behind it seemed to be a thanks for taking care of her?
“Celestin you’re a life saver.”
“Thank you.”
“Kahlua reflect on this properly.”
“I’m sorry. “
I’m glad this was resolved easily though.
